Cow Close Caravan and Camping offers pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes as well as a number of cosy camping pods. Hardstanding pitches with electric hook up are available, along with a tent camping area with optional electric hook ups. Dogs are also welcome and will enjoy the beautiful woodland setting at this friendly site.

About the site
You won't be disappointed if you choose Cow Close for your holiday, whether it is for a short weekend away or a longer visit. A short walk away is the vibrant market town of Leyburn, which can be accessed by a footpath directly from the site. You'll be ideally situated to access many local attractions here, as well as the neighbouring towns of Richmond, Middleham, Bedale and Masham. Leyburn is known as the Gateway to the Dales after all, with easy access to The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the beautiful scenery and villages within it. There are hardstanding pitches with electric hook ups for caravans and motorhomes with pitch sizes of around 9m by 9m. There's also grass pitches with electric hook up for tents, caravans and motorhomes, and a selection of non electric grass pitches for tents too. For those looking for a touch of luxury, there are four camping pods that can sleep either three adults or two adults and two children. Please bring your own bedding. Each pod is complete with a kitchenette equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and utensils. There's an electric heater to keep you toasty warm as well as a USB charging point. Up to two dogs are allowed in each pod and outside you'll find picnic tables and benches for some al fresco dining. For long term stays, there are a number of seasonal pitches on site too. Dogs are welcome as long as they are supervised and kept on a lead at all times on site.

Site rules and policies
We hope your stay at Cow Close Caravan and Camping will be a very enjoyable one, so ask for your compliance with the site rules for your own safety and the safety and comfort of other guests around you. The proprietors reserve the right to refuse admission or ask any guest failing to comply with these rules to leave the park immediately without refund.
People:
Bookings cannot be accepted from persons under eighteen years of age.
Minors (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times on site.
The number of persons at your pitch should correspond to the number of persons stated in the booking. Additional overnight guests are chargeable.
Day Visitors - we do allow day visitors to site but ask that they leave by 9pm. There is a charge for visitors in vehicles. All day visitors must sign in at the information kiosk.
Arrivals:
Arrivals only between 2.00 pm and 7.30 pm. Please advise Cow Close Caravan and Camping Ltd if you are likely to arrive after this time.
SATNAV advice. We do NOT recommend that you access site from the A684 at Harmby. Access should be from the A6108 Bellerby/Richmond Road
Please report to reception where you will be guided to your pitch. If no one is available, there will be a message for in the site information kiosk indicating your pitch number and any other relevant information.
Assistance with setting up your pitch is available if required. Please mention this at time of booking.
Departures:
Pitches must be vacated by 12.00 (midday) on the day of departure.
All vehicles should turn right when leaving the site entrance.
Vehicles:
Vehicles used for sleeping should be a caravan, motorhome, campervan.
Sleeping in a car or van is not permitted unless it is registered as a Motorcaravan with the DVLA and has this shown on the V5C registration certificate.
A speed limit of 5 mph must be observed throughout the site. Please take care on the approach to the site as it is a single track road.
One vehicle per pitch is permitted.
Please refrain from driving on the grassed areas (unless on a grass pitch), and use designated parking areas.
Vehicles are only to be driven by persons holding a full driving license and valid insurance policy.
Noise:
Noise (including music) should be at a personal level at all times.
Quiet after 10.00pm for the comfort of all our guests.
Generators are not permitted.
Please be aware that to maintain the site well the grass needs to be cut and some areas strimmed frequently during the summer months. We apologise if this disturbs you.
Dogs & Pets:
Dogs must be supervised and kept on a lead on the site.
Please clean up after your pet.
Please respect the signage that has been put up by our local farmers asking that dogs are kept on leads over some fields and footpaths. This is to protect livestock and crops.
Dogs must not be left unaccompanied in caravans, motorhomes or tents.
Fire Safety and Security:
In the event of a fire, RAISE THE ALARM which is situated at the information kiosk and go to the assembly point which is at the pod car park just outside the site gate
Due to surrounding farmland open fires and fire pits are NOT permitted on site.
Barbecues are permitted but must be raised on bricks away from grass, plants, trees and other combustible materials. Hot ashes to be put in galvanised bin provided.
Fireworks and Paper Lanterns are not permitted
Electric heaters are not permitted in awnings and tents
Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly into a metal container
Splitters are not allowed on EHU's to share power supply with others
EV Car Charging is NOT available on site.
Showers and Toilets:
Please leave toilet and shower areas clean and tidy following use, as courtesy to other users. There is a mop available for wet floors
No smoking in the toilet and shower block
No dogs in the toilet and shower block.
Children must be supervised.
Children:
We welcome children at Cow Close, but do not specifically cater for them.
Children must be supervised at all times, including when using the toilet/shower block.
We do not allow ball games or Frisbees on site for the comfort and safety of everyone and to prevent damage to vehicles.
There is an assortment of Board Games and DVD's in the information kiosk which you are welcome to use.
Running around caravans, motorhomes and tents is not permitted.
Climbing on the dry stone walls is not permitted.
Surrounding Area:
The site is surrounded by farm land which is NOT owned by Cow Close.
Please ensure gates are closed behind you when walking or driving through fields with animals in, and that dogs are always on a lead
Please do not climb on/over the dry stone walls including those on site. There are a lot of footpaths in the surrounding area and all of them have stiles/wall gaps in appropriate places.
Other:
We are unable to accept forward bookings for the next season. Our booking sheet for the following season will open on 1st January. Please email requirements.
Pitch requests will be accommodated where possible but cannot be guaranteed
Accidents & Insurances:
Caravans and vehicles enter the site at the owner's risk. No responsibility is accepted for loss, damage or injury on the site, however caused.
We strongly advise guests check that they have appropriate insurances for the period of their stay.
All accidents or incidents on the park must be reported and recorded at reception.
For the pods:
Hire of the pods is on the understanding that:
• Guests will take all reasonable care of the accommodation and its contents
• Guests will NOT smoke in the Pods
• No candles/naked flames to be used inside the pod.
• Guests will leave the property in a clean and tidy condition on departure. This includes the microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery.
• Guests will empty the bin into the large bins on the caravan site
• Cow Close Pods reserves the right to enter the pods at any reasonable time for inspection or for necessary repairs or maintenance. We would contact you to make arrangements in such circumstances unless it was deemed an emergency. If a pod is left in an unsatisfactory condition or damaged in any way, we reserve the right to charge costs via invoice to guests following their stay.
Things to do on site and in the Leyburn area
Wensleydale and its neighbouring Swaledale provide walkers and cyclists with a plethora of opportunities to get out and about and explore. Cow Close sits on a footpath between Leyburn and Bellerby and there are maps on site to help you on your way.
Why not try a walk to Tan Hill - England's highest pub - which starts and finishes in Keld? Or, explore the delights of Richmond on a town circular, visit Aysgarth Falls or just walk along the river to Middleham or Wensley. There are dozens of good pubs, restaurants and cafes for those who like to eat out, too.
Opportunities for cyclists are just as varied. The site is near previous Tour de France routes and the infamous Buttertubs Pass. Neighbouring Swaledale is a mountain bike mecca with suitable routes for all riders. Richmond Cycling Club offer time trials (summer months) and weekly mountain bike rides are available with Leyburn Bikes and Dales Bike Centre.
