Things to do in Pwllheli
Begin your stay by checking out the two gorgeous beaches on offer at Pwllheli. Just 4 miles from Gimblet Rock you’ll find the shingles of South Beach. Head to the back of the marina and you’ll find the sands on Glan y Mor. Whether you prefer sand or shingles, either beach is a great place to top up your tan and admire the stunning scenery.
If you’re looking to see the beautiful beaches from above, you can connect with the long distance Lyn Coastal Path at Pwllheli which offers superb coastal views overlooking the town.
Those not looking for a long trek can stroll along the Hafan Pwllheli Marina, perhaps even treating the kids to fish and chips at one of the many cafes, pubs and restaurants available.
Head to the centre of Pwllheli for a day of entertainment at Funland. Kids can enjoy driving around on the dodgems before hopping onto the bouncy castle. Carry on the fun at the amusement arcade – ideal if the kids aren’t quite ready to head back to camp.
Race with the kids at Glasfryn Parc Bowling and Activities. The centre has multiple circuits to choose from whether you fancy go karting or quad biking and if driving behind the wheel doesn’t do it for you, perhaps archery and ten pin bowling will.
For a more peaceful day out with the kids, visit the National Trust property Plas yn Rhiw. Enjoy a pleasant stroll through its orchards and meadows whilst soaking up the interesting history occupying its corridors. The pretty gardens also have great views over Cardigan Bay.
Just a short drive away is the Pen Lyn Lusitano Stud and Riding Centre. There’s a wide choice of hacks and treks for skilled riders as well as lessons for beginners.
Those wanting to extend their travels can take a short drive to the village of Abersoch for even more great beaches or hop on a boat trip to Bardsey Island, the “Isle of 20,000 saints”.
