Things to do in Colwyn Bay
Find a spot to relax at Colwyn Bay’s beach. Kids can build sandcastles on the golden sands as you top up your tan under the sun before taking a family stroll along the three mile promenade on your way to a scoop (or two) of ice cream.
If you want to take to the water in style, try out some of the exciting watersports on offer at the Colwyn Bay Watersports Centre. Take one of the taster sessions in windsurfing, powerboating or sailing.
Afterwards, treat the little ones with a visit to Totally Ape. Kids can ride down the slides and dive into the ball pool. While they’re enjoying themselves, relax with a cuppa in the café, set around the play area so you can still keep an eye on them.
When the kids have finished running wild, spend the afternoon looking at the animals at Welsh Mountain Zoo. You’ll see all kinds of creatures, such as snow leopards and sea lions, while also enjoying the views over Colwyn Bay as well as the North Wales Coast.
For a change of pace, wander through the beautiful woodland at Pwllycrochan Woods Local Nature Reserve. Spot the wildlife as you stop for a picnic amongst the greenery before walking along one of the four trails that take you through the reserve’s history.
Alternatively, head to Bodnant Gardens and admire the colours of its plantlife. At eighty acres, there’s plenty to explore within the magnificent gardens, sitting above the River Convy which also makes for some splendid views.
After roaming around the gardens, have some indoor fun at Eirias Park and Waterpark. See how many lengths you can swim in the 25m pool until you’re ready to unwind in the steam room and sauna.
Those looking to do more sightseeing should head to the Great Orme, a spectacular headland. Walk up to the limestone grassland by foot or take the tramway for a more relaxed ascent to the top. While you’re there, take a tour of the Ancient Mine – the world’s biggest Bronze Age mine!
When you’ve finished exploring the town, head up the towers at Conwy Castle or walk along Llandudno Pier and overlook the beautiful coast.
