About The Barn Caravan Park

The Barn is the only campsite on the coast between Brighton and Worthing and is well placed close to the all-important beaches. Being beside the sea and the South Downs and within walking distance of bus and train services, its location is a big draw. It offers a great family atmosphere and suits campers who like to avoid the crowds and background noise of the largest sites. As a family and dog friendly site, it offers a range of level grass pitches with good drainage, suitable for caravans, tents and motorhomes plus a play area for children. There's the option of electric and group bookings are allowed.

The Barn Caravan Park is open from 14/03 to 30/10 in 2024 and from 11/04 to 19/10 in 2025.

A note from the site themselves...

We opened the site back in 2003 and have continued to grow and develop ever since. Fret not though if big campsites aren't your thing, the site is still peaceful and medium-sized and is always carefully maintained to avoid overcrowding even in busy periods.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our sunny part of Sussex, Joe

FAQ

Check-in is between 1pm-6pm and you must vacate your pitch by 11:30am on day of departure.

Yes, a maximum two dogs are welcome to join you per pitch, provided they are kept on a lead whilst onsite and are not a breed/crossbreed listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

BBQs are welcome provided they are kept raised off the ground, so as not to damage the grass, and self contained campfires in a chiminea or fire pit are also permitted.

The South Coast is just a stone's throw away from the site with Brighton, Worthing and Bognor Regis providing the seaside action. South Lancing beach is a short stroll away, and it's just two miles before you reach Shoreham-by-Sea. Wander west along the coast and spend the day at Littlehampton Harbour Park, complete with thrilling rollercoaster rides, crazy golf, dodgems and more. Brighton's Lanes are sure to tempt shoppers or admire the aquatic life at the Sea Life Centre before watching the sunset from the pier.

Awnings can be brought, free of charge. Sorry no pup tents or gazebos.

The main attractions on this coast are beaches, beaches, beaches! The nearest beach, South Lancing, is within a short walk, with the beaches of Worthing and Shoreham-by-Sea each a two mile walk from the site, why not take a walk on the beach at sunset? Or head west along the coast for some fun at Littlehampton's Harbour Park or to see the beauty of Bognor Regis.

For active campers, golf and swimming are all close by the campsite. Go Karting is available just outside Lancing and you'll be able to get up some serious speed on a 450m track.

Travelling east? Brighton's Lanes will tempt you with shopping and those who are brave can try jellied eels down at the front. Don't miss George IV's Royal Pavilion, the Sea Life Brighton Centre or all the great budget places to eat in the city.

Just under a mile from The Barn is Lancing which hosts a nature reserve, Lancing Ring. Worthing itself is worth mentioning as the home of Oscar Wilde and Harold Pinter, and has its own pier and seafront to rival Brighton.

There are a host of listed buildings in Worthing to explore plus the biggest museum in West Sussex, an undercover shopping centre and for mystery buffs, there's quite a legend surrounding a local haunted oak tree that dates back to the Domesday Book.

Further west Chichester offers a Norman cathedral, but also bags of Roman history, and Fishbourne Roman Palace, the biggest Roman home in Britain, is Chichester's close neighbour.

Popular festivals in the Sussex area include:

  • Wildlife Music Festival
  • Glyndebourne Opera Festival
  • Goodwood Races
