Amazing place, so peaceful, everyone was so friendly. My daughter (8) made friends with owner's daughter so she was happily playing all day. They are doing amazing work there, the kids playground is brilliant. Ideally there'd be more shower blocks but talking to the guy who was doing work around there, that is on the to do list. I honestly can't fault the place it's such a beautiful spot.

Overall, a nice one night's stay at The Gate Hangs High, although we personally wouldn't stay here again. As this is a pub with just a field attached to the back, the facilities aren't great. There is only one outside toilet and one shower room which means in the mornings, the queues are very long although during the day, the pub toilets are open for use which is better. At weekends, the pub doesn't open until midday. There was a smell down the bottom end of the field which was quite unpleasant to smell. The ground is also very uneven and on a slight sloping hill, which can make things difficult. Overall, we did enjoy our stay but just wouldn't return.

Nice site, grass is uneven but managed to find an okay spot. Option of using the toilets in the pub when it's open with is nice. Music at the pub was loud but as we were up late, it didn't bother us too much.

This was an ideal place for us to stay. It as handy for the Whichford pottery and for some good walking. The pitch was a little sloping although easily overcome with levelling blocks. The food in the pub was good and the beers well kept. Some noise from the waste transfer station next door, especially in the morning, nothing major for us.
Catered well for our needs

It's a simple campsite and worked well enough for us for a couple of nights. Staff/reception was very friendly and as helpful as could be, but didn't all have knowledge of the facilities and where to find them. Very handy having the pub right there with great food (dirty steak fries! Yum!) Nice play area for the kids, despite some of it being still under construction. For the shower, we had to go out onto the road basically; we didn't use it. No washing up facilities/sink. Unclear where to get drinking water. Unclear where to put the rubbish.

The site is at the rear of a lovely pub in the Oxfordshire countryside. Nice country walks from the site including the Hook Norton Brewery about 20-30 minute walk away. The pub serves good food and beer but no longer has the campers budget menu. The site has pitches with electric hook up but these are on a slope. The site is noisy at times being adjacent to the pub garden and backs onto a recycling centre that starts work early in the morning. The facilities are limited with one shower and two toilets for campers. There was plenty of hot water and the shower is a good size. It appears as though the owners are developing the site and its facilities which certainly have potential.

Nice site, still a work in progress. Pub is excellent with good food. Water and electricity to some pitches (check if you need it) levelling ramps useful for some pitches. This is our second visit and we will return. Notes that it's only 1 mile flat walk to Hook Norton brewery - a must see if you like the odd beer.

Great campsite for a sunny evening when you just want to relax in the country and not drive home from the pub after a pint or two of Old Hooky. Particularly good location if you are visiting the classic car rally at Hook Norton Brewery the following day and want a Sea Bream and Samphire with cheesy mash dinner treat.

Nice place, lovely food, friendly staff. Shame it's on a hill and needs a washing up area, but still a lovely stopover.
Very noisy from road next door

Ridiculous amount of noise from 6am with crazy, speeding vehicles right next door and work getting done on the car park. I realise upgrading needs to be done, but a heads up when booking would have been appreciated! We left a day earlier than planned as we barely got any sleep. However, the pub food was excellent and it was a lovely bar, which we really enjoyed.

A little bit noisy as they are having improvements doing. Bar staff very friendly. Once they have improved the campsites and facilities, it will be a first class site.

We stayed here just for a night on our way down to the south coast. Fab stop over, we had dinner and breakfast in the pub. The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Adequate at best!

Adequate at best. I would say the site is more a pub stopover not a campsite. There were 50 plus units and only 1 shower available for the whole site & 2 24hr toilets (only 1 if someone is using the shower). Certainly not worth the £25 a night charge for camper 2 adults & 1 child. Sewage stench at the bottom corner of the site. Needs a decent shower/toilet block building if they continue to trade as they are.
Great pub - minimal facilities

Lovely pub with amazing staff and amazing food. There is only one shower for the whole campsite and no washing up facilities. Nice location, however it is a half hour walk to the next pub and no shops nearby. Would go again for the amount of time we spent, which was four nights.

One night stay. We had pre-booked a table in the pub for food which was needed as no other tables inside available. The site was busy but not packed. We arrived 7pm, set up, then ate at the pub, by which rime the single shower room was free as it was at 9am the next morning. Food in the pub was great as was range of beers. Nearest small shop is a 5 minute drive into the village. Well stocked. Brewery in the village is well worth a visit also.
Very nice

Nice location with the pub right on site. Great food, myself and partner had steak and cheesy chips, which I recommend. Only issue, which was not the sites fault, was the snoring, haha. But and all round nice place.

Excellent experience, campsite and pub with food both great. Set up tent, no problems. Pub is great, excellent beer and food. Lovely area. One toilet, plus new shower room with extra toilet and pub toilets. All good. Good children's area, new wooden castle to play on. Not too noisy. Camping ground is on a slight slope, but not a problem. Staff were very helpful. Had cooked breakfast (Fri, Sat, Sun). Will be back.
An okay experience.

Our stay was average at best. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower for the whole campsite is nowhere near enough. But, they were always clean and well stocked up. The staff themselves were very friendly & the food in the pub is a must-try! The pitches themselves are on a bank and quite uneven. Some time and care needs putting into the campsite side of the business, but overall it served us well as a pit stop on our journey!

Good location, but only 1 toilet for the entire site. Really not good enough, in the mornings, it was very busy at the 1 toilet during busy periods. Would suggest hiring in some toilets.
Good site, nice staff, great pub

It's cheap, it's a pub car park and field. Pub is awesome, staff very friendly. Could do with more than the 1 shower but can't fault the price. It's not the flattest but for the money, location and nice staff it's good value.

Booked The Gate Hangs High for the Hook Norton beer festival which we have attended regularly in recent years. Booking was easy. Very relaxed atmosphere on site. We had some excellent food in the pub. They laid on a mini bus to transport us too and from the festival which made everything easy. The only slight down side was that we had some noisy neighbours who stayed up till 2:30 am but that's not the campsites fault. However, I will stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.
