Perfect location both for the town and lovely hillside walks. The site was very well maintained, with good-sized, flat pitches. Friendly staff, happy to offer info about the local area. We would highly recommend Ewes Water.

I wanted to go camping for my birthday. We choose this park as it is not too far to drive. It was easy to find great spot for relaxing and easy distance for local town. We used shops and hotels in town for shopping and eating. Also the café within a stones throw for breakfast on the morning we were leaving. Friendly people always making sure we were happy. I would have given it a 5 stars all the way if we could have purchased bread, milk, eggs and butter from the site, but we did not mind going into town. We will be back later in the year.

Loved my stay. Friendly and helpful people running the site. Kept neat and tidy and facilities clean. Luckily those staying respected others by being quiet and no noisy music all hours. It's getting harder to find places where tired hikers can rely on a quiet night! This helped made my stay a good one Ideal for walking as you can walk on the hills (and other lower walks) straight from the site. Town merely minutes away and don't have to road walk to get there. Excellent and very popular café about 100yards from the site. Do sell vegetarian/some vegan meals too. Totally recommend and can't wait to go back. Recommend for a few friends if the type who are there for peace and quiet, not a jolly being loud etc. Same for couples.

Lovely, quiet site and staff very friendly. Well maintained and first time I have seen free poo bags on every pitch, what a great idea! Never used facilities as had my own. The only thing lacking was Wi-Fi, but would definitely use again.

This site is run by volunteers and helps to keep the local rugby club going, so apart from being a hidden gem it also feels nice to contribute. Would suit all ages, all families, and it's dog friendly. A gentle, low-key, quiet site within walking distance of Langholm that has great walks all around. The Ewes Water River is stunning and the sign as you enter the town says it all, 'Here Comes Langholm'. It's a friendly wee Scottish town with loads of Geordie accents around. Loved it.

Enjoyed our 4 night stay, easy to walk in to Langholm and lovely breakfast at Whistlers Café. Good site for dogs, able to cool off in the river. Although toilets etc are dated, they're clean and usable. Overall a very good park, esp. for the price. It is run by friendly, helpful and conscientious volunteers. Would definitely recommend and will be back in the future.

Enjoyed the site apart from pesky midgies, also a little disappointed that the clubhouse was not open. We were told that it was not open until August.
Site's response
Thank you for the review, the bar in the clubhouse is only open on match days but our site warden is more than happy to open up the clubhouse for a tour for any caravan site guests anytime.

We had no idea what to expect as booked the overnight stay on route the night before. It was a lovely setting, within an amazing, sunny valley. Easy to book on to on line, though, google maps played up with the post code so we initially struggled to locate it. However, after we spoke to a lovely guy on the phone, we got there; a stones throw away from were we thought we were lost. We later texted the (I think) owner for where to go for food, and we were signposted to various venues and shops. Most helpful 🤗

Lovely little site on the edge of Langholm, which is a small little town, with great walks around the area. The site itself has very good flat pitches, which are spacious. The showers are nice and powerful and clean throughout. Thoroughly recommend this site.

Fantastic campsite for us to introduce our children to camping- no play area, so take your own entertainment. Very easy to access from the M6, close enough to the town of Langholm for shops, and very large pitches. A bonus of a campfire being allowed.

This is a lovely quiet, peaceful site with a nice atmosphere. The welcome was excellent and the pitch was spacious and almost perfectly flat. Langholm is a short walk from the site and a book of walking maps can be purchased from The Paper Shop which details the many superb walks around the village and local area. The electric hook-up (on pitch number 1) had a 10 amp breaker but was sufficient to run the microwave! The toilet and shower block is basic but perfectly clean, with hot water in the showers, Not the most luxurious facilities but quite adequate and well maintained. All in all, this is a really nice site for a quiet break. We shall return.

Absolutely amazing place, just a short walk from a lovely village with everything you need. Absolutely class for the dogs with a river just at the side and a massive field for them to run. Not to mention the amazing sites nearby that you can drive to. We will be booking again very soon.

Lovely, quiet site that provides everything you need. Electric points, beautifully kept grass and a very attentive warden. Showers and toilets are a little dated, but spotlessly clean and well maintained. Site sits in a dip and is cocooned by high trees all around. Pitches are level and flat. There is a bus stop just outside with buses going to Hawick and Carlisle regularly. Langholm is a 10 to 15 minute walk away. We will certainly return.

Nice site but no rules about dogs on a lead

Lovely site, volunteers very helpful and friendly. The site seem to have no policy regarding keeping dogs on a lead. This was not good as there were dogs running around leaving their mess and running up to other dogs who were on a lead, which led to some altercations. This in turn proved to be very unsettling, especially when you have a small dog always on a lead, but is afraid of other dogs running up to them. Unfortunately this means that we won't be visiting the site again as it is not relaxing. If there was a site policy and stated on the site that dogs must be kept on a lead then we could have reported this but it seems to be a free for all, with no respect for other campers.
Site's response
Thank you for the review and the feedback. We fully agree we have a fantastic bunch of volunteers who run the site and strive to make everyone’s stay at Ewes Water the most enjoyable experience. We have now introduced a policy where dogs must be kept on the lead at all times and not left unattended in the park. We are very lucky where the site is situated, within the grounds of Langholm Rugby Club, where there is ample space to exercise dogs. Additionally, we are in the process of installing signs displaying the new policy and we are also providing doggy poo bags free and available for everyone. These are situated at the site entrances and we intend to make them available on all individual pitch markers.
