This is my third time of visiting though for various reasons I hadn't been since 12 years ago. However this has to be an absolute favourite for myself and family. Though it doesn't have any entertainment or play areas on site, it has a huge rugby pitch next to it where children can run round and tire out! Its facilities are clean, the staff are friendly and nothing is too much bother! A short walk to Langholm and there are plenty of places to eat and a couple of supermarkets, and lovely independent shops! There are 2 great play areas, one by the riverside where there is safe (be careful of course!) padding (providing the river is low!) but the other is tucked behind the church on the other side of the river, and is definitely worthy of a picnic! Within driving distance is Hawick (lots to do including the teviot leisure centre) Jedburgh and Galashiels. Well worth a visit!! Thank you!

Tap for drinking water and filling up, could do with a better fitting as I have a variety and not one would fit the tap to use hose...
Site's response
Thank you for the review. Good news, the tap is getting a new fitting this week, we've been waiting ages for it to arrive. We hope you will come back and visit us in the future.

Just finished a 5 night stay, (family of 4, with friends who were also a family of 4) it's a basic site but excellent value for money. A very peaceful stay, with basic but clean washing facilities. Lovely quiet villages around with not too far of a drive (30-40 minutes). Plenty of room for the dog and kids to run around on the rugby pitch. Great section of river in the village, ideal for swimming with younger children. Good climb up to the Sir John Malcom monument, too. Would definitely stay here again for a short and very reasonable get away.

I am inclined to keep this review to myself because I do not want this excellent site to become too busy! I enjoyed a relaxing three night stay. There is a mix of tents and caravans, which I quite like. The pitches are small but big enough. The site is very dog friendly (perhaps too dog friendly for someone who has no particular love of dogs) with dog bags available at every pitch. They do ask that dogs are kept on a lead while on site but that rule was ignored by some dog owners and, as usual the dog owners appeared to think it acceptable that their pets could pee against various site furniture such as water standpipes etc. I did not check out the toilets or showers as I always use my own facilities but the toilet cassette emptying point is well designed. There are a sufficient number of water taps. The site management insist on 'quiet' after 10.00pm which is good. It is a short walk from the site into Langholm town, which is a very interesting place and in a beautiful area. The site pricing is refreshing! In an age when caravan sites seem to think it reasonable to charge huge sums of money for an overnight stay, I would say that Ewes Water is very good value in 2023. All in all, a very pleasant site which I would recommend.

Small quiet campsite that was booked as it was cheap as chips for camping compared to the many who have increased their prices massively in recent years. Run by volunteers from the adjoining Rugby club and kept clean and tidy. Toilet block is a tad old but was kept spotless with great hot strong showers (think they are planning on updating soon). Will definitely be heading back in the future.

Loved well-kept site. Well maintained, level and plenty of dog bags around to hopefully ensure that people clean up after the dogs. The small site is next to the Langholm Rugby Club and from what is seen is maintained by volunteers, to their credit. It's just a short walk to Langholm (which is again a well-kept place). There are some shops, cafe and pubs (but most of the pubs were closed at the time of our visit).

Wonderful little site! My husband myself and our dog stayed for 4 nights. Site nice and quiet and a perfect spot to watch the Red Kites soaring overhead. Pitches were a good size with a mixture of small and larger sized pitches and hard standing for motorhomes and caravans. A supply of doggy bags hanging from your site number was a lovely gesture. A short walk through the lower field took you to a path which led into town, which took around 10-15 mins at a leisurely pace, where there was a Co-op and Londis store for supplies if needed. I was super impressed with this 'beautiful' little town, it was so clean and the locals were really friendly and happy to chat about their history. We will definitely be back again, but for longer next time. Huge congratulations to Michael (one of the camp caretakers) who celebrated his jubilee while we were there, and was super helpful with his directions. Another mention to the lady who covered for him for his big event, so chatty and friendly. The site is definitely a hidden treasure and we are so glad we found this, definitely our new favourite place. The toilets are a bit tired but I understand they are getting a revamp. 100% highly recommend this site for a lovely quiet getaway. Such value for money too. Can't wait till our next adventure.

Great site, very well kept, in a wonderful location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and the walks in the surrounding are. Definitely be back. 5 stars on all but facilities for two reasons 1. there is no drain to dispose of grey water and 2. the fresh water tap has no hose connector and is an unusual size, not the usual 1/2 or 3/4. Needs 7/8 for a "farmers tap" apparently (after a bit of internet research). Many thanks again for the stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely, quiet site, ideally located off the A7 with good transport links to the M6 at Carlisle, Hawick, Galashiels, Edinburgh and the entire borders area. The site is flat, well kept, with good facilities and is run by friendly and dedicated volunteers from the adjacent Rugby Club. I highly recommend this site and will definitely stay again when next in the Scottish Borders as it is an ideal base for touring the area or for those just wanting a relaxing, site based stay.

This was a gorgeous little site. We were greeted the morning after our first night by a lovely volunteer who was very helpful about what we could do nearby etc. The toilet and shower facilities were kept clean, there was never a dirty smell which was a pleasant surprise. The washing machine on site was available to use and working, washing up facilities were available and clean too. Grass was kept short and tidy which was also handy for tent staying. Pitches were adequately sized and electrics worked exactly as they should do. Bins on site and drinking water on site. The park is perfectly situated. Nearby Langholm was just a very short 1 min drive. Local amenities included a café (very good food and cheap prices!) a chip shop/Chinese food and another few little shops including a Londis and a Co-op. I stayed here as a family of 5, myself, my partner and children aged 12, 2, and 7 months. We felt well accommodated and would absolutely stay again.

This site was a hidden gem. Found on a random search of places to go last minute with family. We were a Campervan and a tent in our party. Pitched together with a hook-up. Communication was fabulous from booking to arrival. The site is run by volunteers and what an excellent job they do. The toilets are a little dated but they're super clean, excellent shower with high pressure warm water. Laundry facilities, wash up area and toilets all clean and cared for well. The town is a 10 minute walk. The play park is about a 7 minute walk. You can cut through a field to it or walk the main road. The river runs to the side of the site and from what I could tell you can't access directly from the site without a bit of a ramble and a climb. There is a fabulous little café as you enter the site opened from 9am till 3pm where you can get breakfast/lunch/brunch. The staff here are lovely also. There is a Co-op in the town that's well stocked, it's about a 15 minute walk to get to, 25 mins with kids. We used the site as a based and drove to different locations daily and for this it was perfect. Things that you could do extra with the site but this is my personal opinion. A drying area for clothes. A little homage to the rugby club by leaving little rugby balls out for the kids to play with on the field when not being used by training sessions. I thought you could perhaps use the stands a little when the Scottish weather takes over and have some family games or something out for entertainment. However that said, it was pretty perfect how it was and now that we know how much space there is on the site next time we visit we'll bring some balls and games to play with at night. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we will return xx

Lovely site and pitches were immaculately kept. Inspired to use the rugby ground and great that it is manned by volunteers. The showers were a bit sad and in need of updating but the water pressure and heat were excellent.
