Pleasant stay- great location

Nice quiet and very clean site, in a great location - with easy access to local shops and a bus service into York - which was what I wanted.

Lovely weekend away

Stayed for two nights in our motorhome, very peaceful site right on the riverside. Weather wasn't too good but that didn't spoil our break. Lovely little village, a short walk away. Had pizzas from Bosuns oven, which were lovely. Tried to book the restaurant but we had our little dog with us so we were unable to go. Site is immaculate, showers looking quite tired but the owners are planning on renovating these soon. Once these are updated, this will be a 5 star site that'll be hard to beat. We'll definitely be back!

Toilet block could do with cleaning more frequently as it was very smelly.

Since our owners acquired the site late last year they have commenced an extensive refurbishment programme throughout the entire site and although the toilet and shower facilities have been improved and are cleaned more regularly they are yet to be fully renovated. This work is scheduled to take place during the coming winter period in readiness for our guests in 2025. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

Good site

Just arrived home from this really great site. Be aware they don't have a reception but there are people about to help and they are lovely. The site has had a revamp, from what has been said. Shower block lovely and heated. Showers have a basket for putting your gel and things in, very uncommon for sites but no stool or bench to sit on to dry your feet. Very convenient for walks and nearby bus service into York. Café on site, good restaurant next to site Bosun, not tried but looked expensive. Pubs in the village very friendly and Ebor served nice food. Be aware they all stop serving food at 4pm on a Sunday.

Will go again. Had a great time. Boat hire was good fun.

Pretty campsite by the river

Lovely site in a beautiful location, we will be back. Great little takeaway breakfast and pizza, lovely restaurant on site.

Lovely place

Lovely setting. Quite busy but peaceful all the same. Nice pitches and online check-in is good. Thought the café and pizza place was a little on the pricey side but the food that we tried was good. Good vibe to the place.

Lovely place

Stayed 2 nights. Weather was great and the boatyard was a beautiful setting to relax. Easy trip into York on the bus, nearby service. Quiet site but that was perfect for us .

A quiet corner just outside York

A great location, very quiet. The pitches are excellent, as well as the services. A 45 minute walk along the river into York was great.

The Boatyard, York

A wonderful 2 day break staying at The Boatyard. It was our first visit, such a lovely, peaceful and clean site. The layout was nice, lovely canal side benches and there was availability to hire boats/canoes etc. There was also a restaurant and small eatery that offers a variety of food. Toilet, shower and washing up facilities were always clean. It is possible to walk to York (approx 2.5-3 miles) and it is mostly away from traffic. We will definitely return!

Wonderful place

Beautifully situated on the River Ouse, The Boatyard is a great choice for any length of stay. With kayaks and motorboats for hire, the river is there for exploring, Kingfishers flash past in all of their glory. The tables and benches on the riverside provide a wonderful view, as you tuck into the delicious breakfast sandwiches served at the hut. Pizzas, soft drinks, tea, coffee and a good mix of alcoholic beverage are also available. An hours walk takes you into the wonderful York with all the city has to offer. We stopped for 3 nights initially and then came back for another 3, that should tell you how highly we rate this site. The owner also has plans to refurbish and improve facilities next year so we will be back!

Great little site

We just had a brilliant few nights at The Boatyard. It's only a small site, but it was next to the river with a restaurant and handy snack bar that does lovely pizzas and bacon butties in the morning. The facilities were clean and all that you needed. The pitches are a good size on hard standing with a grass plot alongside. The local village is a short walk away with a few pubs, a Co- op and other shops. We caught the bus into York one day and hired a boat from the campsite the next, to cruise up and down the river. All absolutely perfect, as was the weather.

Little gem

Amazing little campsite with amazing views of the river. The restaurant was a little pricey, but the food was amazing, staff very friendly and service was good. We didn't use the pizza hut but the dog loved the doggy ice cream. The walk around the site was good for him as well. Toilet and shower really clean, could have done with ventilation for the disabled toilet but that's a minor issue.

Last stop off before home

This is a lovely site, pitches are small, facilities are ok. We'd just been spoilt with previous sites visited.

Great relaxing stay

Great place to stay for relaxing and hiring a boat to sail up and down the river Ouse. Showers were good but needed a deep clean. All in all a great place to stay.

Boatyard - a great time

What a lovely clean site. Don't be put off by the entrance off ferry lane, as it all changes at the bottom. Bosun restaurant was a delight, which is next to the site. Also we caught the bus up to York for the day and visited the Shambles for the first time, and stopped off at York gin, which was great …hic! She recommended the restaurant before I told her we had already booked. Great couple of days, thanks.

Wonderful campsite

Lovely site on the river, which was ideal for visiting York and chilling out. Hired a boat for the morning and had a leisurely sale down the river Ouse. Highly recommended

Few tweaks and it would be great

Stayed on pitch 25. The actual site, as in pitches, was very well kept, but we got the impression it has just recently been done. Pitch size quite small, and didn't seem to be 6m between each pitch. There is nobody on duty, which is odd. Toilet block okay but showers not very powerful or hot. Plus, the loos were not very clean, there is a code for the toilet/shower block, but if the door is left open, anyone visiting the boatyard can enter. Food, disappointed that the main cafe does not open half of the week, so left with the little hut for snacks. However, Tuesday 16th, a lovely day, it was closed. I emailed the park to query and they said it was shut due to bad weather, very odd. So, nowhere for food and as we were in a motorhome, were stuck, unless we packed up and drove. A Co-op nearby did have some provisions, but it's a 10 min walk. The washing up area, as in the sink area was dirty, with old cloths and sponges all over, so it's obviously not cleaned often as they should have been taken away, they were covered in food bits. Workmen, I know work has to go on, but there was no warning that work was being done. We were on a corner pitch and it was so annoying when others walked on our grass right by the camper, on their way to the shower block. Perhaps some sort of fence on corner plots would help? This could be a good site, but needs finishing touches.

The owners did only complete the purchase of the site late last year and have a put in place a comprehensive refurbishment process which indeed did include the caravan park pitches. We are constantly reviewing the feedback to help with the immediate prioritisation of works. We have decided to review the access to the toilet and shower block and make those only accessible to those staying on site. We have also increased the regularity of the cleaning in this area. The toilet & shower block is also scheduled for full renovation during the winter ready for visitors in 2025. We hope that you will visit us again and see the continuing improvements we are making to our site.

Lovely site

All information for the site was received in advance of arrival, including Wi-Fi code, toilet block code and pitch number. Online check in was very straightforward. The site is lovely and clean and is well laid out. Toilet block was very clean and warm. Easy access in to York by bus. We didn't use the restaurant or take-away on site but it seemed very popular.

A nicely laid out site, close to conveniences!

The site was very nicely laid out, clean, and tidy. There was access to the river, a restaurant, snack bar, some nice walks and close to a number of pubs, and a local Co-op. Apparently there used to be a water taxi into town, but not available during our stay. The showers/toilet block was kept clean and tidy, if a little dated, water power, disposal facilities were all clean and tidy, grass and hardstanding all well kept. The only disappointment was the restaurant/bar was not open on a Sunday evening.
