A very lovely place to camp. We booked the woodland pitch for 3 nights and had an amazing time. One thing I would note is the pitches aren't spaced out as far as we assumed (this is not a bad thing) but overall the experience was amazing and we would definitely go again.

A nice campsite, quiet and relaxing. You can start some really cool hikes from the camp. The facilities are simple but had what we needed. The little On-site shop had essentials available. The Host/Owner was really nice, they gave us lots of advice on the surrounding areas. He was just generally a nice guy, who wants to help and make your stay great. Also they do Thai takeaway in the evening which we really were not expecting, but was a really nice treat after hiking all day!

Nice area but lacking in facilities

Beautiful place with a great service but the facilities are lacking in quality and quantity. There is no waste disposal or toilet emptying and, with only 4 toilets on the site and 3 showers, it could leave you in trouble. The ground is very hard and loaded with slate so you can't get a peg in the ground properly for an awning in on the campervan sites. Also the ground is covered in large bits of slate, so isn't suitable for chairs or ground sheets.

Friendly and accommodating. Natalie, Adrian and Vaughan always near by to help. Lots of spots to camp with great views and local walks on your doorstep. Open field or enclosed woodland wild camping hideaways. Walk to Barmouth via the estuary path (stunning) and head up to the mountains near by. Dolgellau is lovely friendly town not far by car. Loads of places to eat and drink. Go up the local mountain walks or visit anywhere in the Snowdonia National Park. We went to Castell y Bere. Super walk from Abergynolwyn which has a gorgeous steam railway and cafe.
Incredible location!

We absolutely loved our stay at Cefn Coed! It is very wild and rough and requires a minimal level of fitness to hike up the steep road to get to the toilets, showers and washing up areas, which are all in one. Showers are lovely and hot with great pressure. Toilets are much to be desired and always wet, but to be honest its only a few minutes a day to suck it up and get on with it. It's so worth it (and I love my comfort). Once you get used to that bit, you start to appreciate what you have around you. We booked mainly for the private areas under the trees, but our daughter wanted to do cartwheels and we couldn't park the car nearby, so we ended up on the field. Just as fabulous with valley views, and the car right next to your tent. The fire hire was brilliant, and wheel barrows available to help lug it down to your site. The only other thing to note, there are no plug points or bins. Might be worth investing in a power bank for phones. The staff were very helpful and friendly! Overall would highly recommend it as it is also very close to beautiful walks, restaurants and Barmouth beach!

Wanted a bit of a get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. What an absolute beautiful campsite, with lots of lovely walks just minutes away from our pitch. Facilities were extremely clean, and pitches were well maintained. Their little shop was a life saver as even sold mosquito repellent. We was lucky and even got to see the northern lights. Would definitely recommend, we've found our new special place. Will be returning, thank you. And thank you for managing to squeeze us in for the extra night.

We stayed Friday through Monday. We unfortunately got the wrong field that was booked entirely and then did the same on a different one. We asked the couple that booked the second, after finding out we were still wrong, and they were fine with us staying where we were so we didn't have to move a second time. We were only given vocal instructions to where to go. So I want to highlight what we believe helped with our unfortunate confusion that lead to these incidents. First I felt there's a lack of signs, it's not very clear where people need to go, what pitch is which and what is reserved. The directions given only go so far, especially on the strip of road with offshoots. The signs that are there don't clearly show what is what and which is which. Also most signs are grey text on slate, so are a bit hard to read. I think maybe a Map would be good as it can be complimentary to the vocal instructions given. Lastly, on a different note, we were a bit confused as to why there was no lights in the showers and so was another resident as we were asked where they were while cleaning teeth, surprisingly. There's only a slit for light unfortunately and it isn't enough, especially in the evening times. Silver lining, we do really like the scenery and it looks like a nice place. We have enjoyed the time spent here and appreciate the accommodation. However I will not be returning to this campsite as I felt it was just too much stress for me and my partner.

Site is great, would recommend if you need somewhere to stay on a budget and are looking for somewhere in the wild. The facilities provided are fine for a few days, but gets very busy in the mornings and after meal times.

Very happy with my long weekend at Cefn Coed campsite. All amenities required with no frills #vanlife. Fantastic location, Mawddach Trail on doorstep. Will definitely be returning. Price of pitch based on two people, felt that solo is a tad expensive for 1 person, hence 4 stars on value, but don't let that put you solos off.

Beautiful oak woodland filled with birds - calm & peaceful location - nice private sites - spacious location. Great hosts. We took up the offer of Thai food and it was hot fresh and served to the camp pitch. Very good quality, authentic and cooked with Thai magic - highly recommend!

I recently enjoyed a great getaway on a woodland pitch here. The pitches are off a main path through the trees and have more than enough room for a tent and chairs around a firepit (available for hire). They're isolated enough from each other for some privacy, but close so you don't feel totally cut off. Be aware that some of the pitches a 5 minute walk away from the main buildings. You need to take a wheelbarrow to and from your spot with your gear too. The main buildings are where you'll find the only toilets, showers and sinks, so be prepared if you're on one of the lower pitches in the woods. This is the only place you get drinking water too. Remember to take a torch after dark as there's no lighting anywhere outside. It would be good if the pitch name signs could have some solar LED lighting on them to navigate after the sun has gone down. Same for the fire point too. A sink and a toilet closer to the majority of the pitches would be brilliant but this isn't an easy thing to do. This also shouldn't stop anyone from choosing to stay here.

We decided to chase the last of the sun and visit Wales the first weekend of September. I found this campsite online and I couldn't help but book a woodland plot. These really live up to, and exceed, all expectations. You have so much more privacy than a usual camping spot, as well as the feeling of being fully immersed in the woodland and all of the creatures that live there. The woodland is gorgeous and you can do a nice little walk down to the estuary and onto the Mawddach Trail. It's easily accessible to lots of lovely places (we went to Cregennan Lakes, Barmouth Beach, Coed Y Brenin forest park and then Blaenau Ffestiniog on the drive back to Sheffield). We had many beautiful nature encounters here but the best was hearing three tawny owls conversing one evening! I would say for those who aren't used to this kind of camping, make sure you bring head torches/lamps as it will obviously get very dark! As well as lots of bug spray as I was bitten a lot :) but these are just common sense things!

This site is in a fantastic location. Beautiful site with absolutely stunning pitches in a beautiful woodland. The woodland pitches are only accessible by foot but they do have wheel barrows to cart your gear to the pitch. However, on the field pitches, cars can stop at your pitch so you can choose where you want to camp. We chose to be in the woodland. All the pitches in the woodland, and there are quite a lot, are all big enough and very private. They are also close to the estuary. My husband and I are retired and elderly, yet we managed to walk quite easily to the estuary with a beautiful clear stream along the walk. Then, to top it all off, they deliver home cooked authentic Thai food to your pitch at a chosen timeslot before 8pm. Brilliant for the night before departure, no dishes need washing up. The Thai food delivered to our pitch was better than the Michelin star restaurants that we go to. This lady (Natalie) is an exceptional cook. I would order take away from her on a weekly basis if we lived closer. We felt it could have done with a rubbish disposal point. It was not nice having to take my 3 day old black bag filled with left over food and rubbish home. Exceptional value for money, both the site fees and food. Thank you for an amazing experience and relaxing stay. Thank you to the both of you for everything and to all the other amazing campers. We had an amazing, relaxing, beautiful stay that will be a topic of conversation in future. We will be telling all our friends and family about your site and we will definitely be back.
