About Catgill Farm Camping and Glamping

At this dog-friendly campsite, you have a choice of camping with or without electric, and don't worry - they are all just a short distance away from their 5-star facilities. If you book the non electric pitches you can choose your favourite spot, and pitch up when you arrive. If you are booking an electric pitch you can choose from the standard pitch measuring 6m x 6m or large size pitch, measuring 8m x 6m. For a warm and cosy camping experience, why not hire a fire pit from reception to light up the evenings whilst you toast marshmallows or enjoy a family BBQ! If you love sleeping underneath the stars but prefer a taste of luxury, choose either the timber pods or bell tents. They are designed to maximise the views, outside space, and privacy and give the illusion that you're almost totally secluded in your corner of the Yorkshire Dales. Glampers will have plenty to do whilst they let their worries float away. - whether it be chilling in a private hot tub, reading a book, or enjoying a family BBQ or homemade pizza by the fire pit/pizza oven. Designed by the owner and architect Oliver, the timber pods are much bigger than most glamping pods, are entirely bespoke and are fully insulated with central heating. Pods can sleep up to six people, perfect for four adults and two children. They include a fully equipped kitchen, ensuite shower room, WiFi, smart TV, sofa, dining table and cabin style bunk beds that the kids will adore. Three of the pods are dog-friendly so feel free to bring the whole family. There are also three pods that come with an added geodome and private hot tub! Sleeping up to six, inside is a built in kitchen, double bed, bunk beds, sofa bed and ensuite facilities. Outside is a fire pit and pizza oven, perfect for some alfresco dining in the evenings. The site also has two luxury bell tents for guests who want an under canvas experience. These four-person bell tents create a magical feel with fairy lights over a large driftwood bed, futons for the kids, and, on those chilly nights, enjoy warming yourself around a toasty log burner with your hot water bottles and heater. The bell tents are fitted to the highest standard and have a separate toilet and shower block. With plenty of storage, cooking equipment, a sink with cold running water, electric and WiFi. The bell tents have everything you need and more. Unfortunately, the bell tents are not dog friendly.

The campsite and bell tents are open from 1st April until the end of October. Timber pods are open all year.

A note from the site themselves...

Catgill Farm has been our family home since the 60's - once a traditional dairy farm run by my grandad Ken, you can still see today's cows neighbouring the campsite!

The idea for our campsite came from my travels to Italy, seeing how many campsites there were and how my lovely little home town of Bolton Abbey had none. Knowing how loved our village was, I knew I had to pitch this idea to my grandad, which wasn't an easy task for a through-and-through traditional farmer! Luckily he trusted me and a year later in 2014, Catgill Farm Camping was opened.

I'd be lying if I said it was easy and I couldn't have done it without my partner Cat, her mum and, of course, our dogs to take away the stress. Getting to share our slice of Yorkshire heaven with hundreds of people has been incredible.

We've been so lucky to have many campers return year after year, my grandad loved getting to know the regulars and talking of old times. He was always involved in the business until he was 86 - he even became a legend amongst guests!

As a family, many hours have been spent and being perfectionists, we have thought of the tiny details that make this such a memorable and special stay. As we grow our mission stays the same - to be friendly, and down to earth and always keep that family atmosphere and traditional welcoming Yorkshire charm.

Oliver, Cat and the dogs, Zara, Molly, Luna and Marley!

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesSep 2024

Fantastic! All the people who run the site are so helpful and friendly, the campers that we met were helpful and friendly. Being brand new campers we did need some help with tent. The amenities were really good (I want to say fantastic but I've said it too many times 🤣) Nothing was too much for the staff. I honestly would recommend to anybody it's such an amazing place. We will definitely be back!

Brilliant end of summer camping trip!

Large Tent - Large Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

Just returned from a short 2 night camping trip at Catgill with my 9 year old son. We had a great weekend, with lovely weather in the day and a fire pit at night when it got colder. The campsite is in an amazing location with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Highly recommended.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

Fantastic location within walking distance to Bolton Abbey. Beautiful site with super friendly and helpful staff. Nice facilities which were very clean. The only let down was the actual pitch. Booked a grass pitch but was given a gravel pitch. For that reason, I wouldn't go again, I only want to pitch my tent on grass, which is why I look for grass pitches! But everything else was perfect!

You're welcome to bring up to two dogs per camping pitch, provided they are well supervised and kept on a lead whilst onsite - dogs are not permitted in glamping accommodation.

Hasketh Farm Park is a short walk from the site with tractor rides, animal encounters and more to entertain little ones. This is walker's country too, with the Dales Way running nearby while keen cyclists can pedal the Tour de Yorkshire route too. Pay a visit to the Bolton Abbey Estate for afternoon tea before exploring the Priory ruins dating back to the 12th century! Ideal for riverside picnics by the River Wharfe too. Located right in the heart of Yorkshire, it doesn't get much better than this! The site provides an outdoor experience that all ages can enjoy. A natural playground for kids, the site itself has a small stream in woodland where they can safely play and there is plenty of space for ball games and fooling around!

You can forget the car as soon as you arrive, as there is just so much to do right on the doorstep. Bolton Abbey village is just a ten minute walk away and has tea rooms, a visitor shop and of course the famous 12th century ruins of the Priory by the meandering River Wharfe.

Feeling brave? Try crossing the river using the historic stepping stones, or just while away the day on the sandy beach watching the children (and dogs) paddling in the river. Hesketh Farm is literally on the doorstep offering tractor tours, animal feeding and much more.

The Devonshire Arms Brasserie and Bar is a short 15 minute walk across the fields and serves good food and local ales. Billy Bob's American diner is popular with families serving all the favourites for breakfast lunch and dinner while the children can run wild in the play barn.

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is just over the hill with the route meandering through the Yorkshire hills to Embsay where the Cavendish Arms is a pit stop well worth considering.

Close to the Dales Way footpath and on the famous Tour de Yorkshire route, the site also has much to offer for walkers and cyclists along with many local attractions for families.

There are some stunning market towns and villages within easy reach such as Skipton, Ilkley and Grassington, all with a variety of friendly pubs, award winning restaurants, cosy coffee shops and many local seasonal events.

It's a perfect location for either an action packed family holiday or a magical and relaxing break.
