Grass Roots Caravan and Glamping offers an all year round getaway, a five minute drive from Milford Haven and Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Tents and tourers can pitch up on grass and hard standing pitches with the option of electric. For a little more luxury, opt for the furnished bell tent with a wood burning stove. Never saw owners. There was no 'service' as such. No personal touches at site. Facilities cold, depressing (black paint everywhere) and not well maintained. Hinges on chemical facility broken. No heating in shower block which smelled damp. Does not appear to have a waste water facility except for sink in utility room. No specific dog bins, so you have to collect your dog mess and put in black bag for unrecycled waste before putting in their bin. Would not like to be there in hot weather for a couple of weeks collecting dog mess at your van to put in black bag for disposing at end of stay. We put ours behind back wheel until end of stay. For us, the site is not suitable for all round cold weather use and overpriced. Entrance is narrow. Emails overly long, and insincere comments considering we never actually spoke to anyone. Will definitely not return.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We purchased the site 12 months ago and have worked hard to make improvements, including a full renovation of the shower block to a high standard. It is disappointing to hear that this did not meet your needs, and we will review your comments to identify areas for improvement. Regarding waste management, the recycling area is clearly labelled, and we provide bins for all types of waste, including dog waste, in the designated area. Guests are not expected to hold onto waste during their stay, as there are accessible facilities for disposal. I also want to address your comments about not seeing us during your visit. Unfortunately, my husband has been diagnosed with Lyme disease and has been very unwell, which has been a challenging time for our family. We strive to ensure the site runs smoothly even during personal difficulties, and I'm sorry if our absence impacted your experience. The grey waste drainage point is located outside our house for easy access, as outlined in the pre-arrival information. We encourage guests to refer to this information, but we will review how this is communicated to make it clearer. We understand your feedback about the site's suitability for cold weather and other elements of your stay. While we aim to cater to all guests year-round, we will take your comments on board as we continue to improve our facilities and services. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We are committed to creating a positive experience for all our guests and hope you will reconsider staying with us in the future. Best regards, Chloe
Welcoming, although site location and showers were off putting

We should have researched the location prior to visiting as we felt it was an unsafe walk into Milford Haven. Initial thoughts on arriving to the site were good, however the mould on the wallpaper in the toilets made it feel unclean. The shower shape was not the easiest to fit into. I may be tall, but am a size 14, I should be able to use it comfortably. Grout in this area was unclean looking too, along with the mop provided. The staff did seem to be working hard on the place although missing critical elements. The campsite has potential with the farm element, however Milford Haven isn't a place for us. Sorry.

Our stay was beautiful and peaceful. Chloe and her family live on-site and work hard to maintain it to ensure campers get the best experience. We had two large tents and pitched them within a large area that allowed us plenty of space. The site has alpacas, goats, and bees which the family take great care of. Our daughter absolutely loved the alpaca trek and we learnt a lot about them. The site is situated at the perfect location between a lot of natural beauty spots. We visited Angle Bay, Dobby's Grave, Barafungle Bay, Pembroke town and Tenby, just to name a few! he cleanliness of the site was spot on! With facilities to recycle, wash up and shower. At present, there are only two male and two female toilets and one shower each, but I know there are big plans for the site which include extending the size of the facilities. Fire pits are £5 per night and a big box of logs and kindling for £7, great addition to the stay. We don't normally stay at the same site twice, but we can't wait to visit again when the new facilities, including the outdoor cinema and playground, are installed :) Thank you so much for letting us share your space.

Lovely place to stop on our travels. Basic amenities but very clean and tidy. A lovely warm shower was just what we needed. The location isn't ideal as walk to Milford Haven takes an hour or so. The Alpacas were a great addition if you have little ones. Very quiet camp site with lots of outdoor space! Thank you!

Before we even arrived, Chloe had messaged welcoming our upcoming arrival and gave directions on where to set up. The site was very clean and large space for kids to play. We obviously immediately went to look at their alpacas. The shower and toilets were lovely and clean. We liked the added extra of renting one of their fire pits. We did the meet and greet with the alpacas and fell in love with them. Thoroughly recommend the meet and greet, love Frankie's cheeky attitude. Chloe and Neal, the owners, were very friendly and you can see they put a lot of love and work into their site. I hear they may have a play park coming and if it was there already, I would have given it 5*. We will be back.

A super site. Whether you are a family, couple or solo traveller, you will love it. The campsite has great pitches, facilities and is in a great location. It's a 12 min drive to Milford haven and approx. 30 mins drive to the stunning Tenby and Saundersfoot. It was also close to other attractions, we just did not enough time on our holiday, this is an absolutely fabulous place to stay Chloe, Neal and family have worked hard to make the site lovely, with lots more visions in the pipeline. It was a great pitch, with stunning sunsets and beautiful well cared for alpacas (you must do Alpaca trekking). Missing our little friend already can't wait to see you all again soon thanks a million. - Jo, Si, Emilie & Zach xx

Superb site, everything was very clean and the shower and toilet facilities were clean and useable. The owners were friendly and approachable and they sell good price bottled gas too (bonus). Very quiet site with lots of room. We had a large caravan with an awning, plus 2 cars - plenty of room for everything. The alpacas were beautiful and the goats too.

We had a lovely stay at Grass Roots this weekend. Brought our 1 year old for her first stay in the camper and we all thoroughly enjoyed. Beautiful site, with really clean facilities. Added bonus taking our little one to see the Alpacas too! Would most definitely recommend and return. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Really lovely campsite, good facilities, and added bonus to wake up to Alpacas and Goats. The owners and site manager are just amazing people, so friendly and helpful, they spent a considerable amount of time with us to help us with a motorhome faux pas and we're eternally grateful for their help. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

First experience of camping in the UK, site was lovely and the host was very welcoming. Facilities were clean (fabulous wallpaper) and plenty of hot water. Site is quite remote but there is a lovely pub within 20 mins walking distance. Would recommend and would return.

Lovely welcome, really friendly owners and really well kept site. I would worry about the number of toilets and showers if it was busier though. Only downside was the inconsiderate couple who let their dog run loose while we were there, despite being asked to keep it away from our nervous dog. We kept finding it outside the van door when we opened it, and had to remove our dog as it followed us, even though we asked owners to control it.

I have been staying at this campsite for several years as a convenient stop off point on my regular trips to see family in Ireland. I stayed twice last summer and most recently in February 2024. The transformation is amazing. The new owners have put so much effort into refurbishing this site, it really is a different experience. The shower and toilets block have been gutted and refitted to a much higher spec than previously. More importantly, the electric hook up pitches have been totally dug out, widened significantly and relaid with quality material. So much easier to park our large motorhome onto. The grounds have been cleared, the outbuildings cleaned and painted and all looks good. We also pitch a tent for the grandchildren to stay in, although last summer the kids stayed in one of the site's bell tents. The family owners have several young children who are very entertaining and good company for young children visiting. Will definitely be back.
