About Woodfire at Westerlands

Set amongst the rolling hills of the South Downs, the site is centred around food, family and enjoying the outdoors. This is the camping that summers are made of with glorious views, wonderful walking routes, campfires and delicious meals on offer. Bring your tent and you can pitch up anywhere you like on the field, regardless of the size of your tent - this site keeps things relaxed and easy. There are a total of 21 non electric tent pitches with five pitches also catering for small campervans, all allowing up to six guests. If hammering in tent pegs doesn't suit, you can have a holiday under canvas that's blissfully hassle free. The site offers four stylish pre-pitched tents with beds provided inside and cosy bedroom lighting. It's all the fun of camping, without bringing a car boot packed with equipment! The water for everything on the campsite is the purest natural spring water, taken from deep underground. The site's facilities are designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible. This campsite is about living lightly on the land for a few days, enjoying the environment that surrounds you while making as little impact as possible. Don't forget the delicious food too. The heart of the campsite is at the camp kitchen where on most days the site will be cooking up a feast over fire. Expect hearty home cooking where you can dine with family, friends or fellow campers at communal trestle tables. Dogs are welcome to join you in your own camping tent, but sorry they cannot stay in pre-erected tents.

The site is open from April to the end of September for weekends and the school holidays.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include instant hot showers, a covered washing up area and clean compost toilets. On most days, breakfast and dinner will be available at an extra cost. To preserve the park's Dark Sky setting, the only electricity is in the camp kitchen, which you can use to charge your gadgets.

Jeeva and Vasu run the friendly Graffham Village Shop, which is a 30-35 minutes walk away and well-equipped with everything you could need for your stay. It also runs a small cafe with teas, coffees, delicious cakes and homemade samosas. Heath End Shop is a few minutes' drive away on the A285 towards Petworth, selling locally sourced fruit, vegetables and other produce.

The site is also within walking distance of four lovely locals, The Cricketers, The White Horse, The Three Moles and The Foresters Arms. The Fosters Arms is the closest, just a 25 minute stroll away.

A note from the site themselves...

We set up Woodfire in 2018 because we love camping, cooking and being outside. We've both camped all our lives and we know that, done right, it's the most luxurious holiday you can have.

Inspired by the Italian agriturismos that we have stayed on ourselves, we wanted to create a great site with fabulous facilities and a generous welcome with Woodfire touches to make the perfect stay.

We cook locally sourced, delicious food to provide for guests to eat alfresco with friends. Our reputation has grown over the years and we are honoured to have received rave reviews from The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, BBC Good Food and Time Out.

We're passionate about the environment, living lightly on the sites that we occupy, and we're proud recipients of a Gold Award from the rigorous Green Tourism Sustainability Certification Scheme in association with the South Downs National Park Authority where we have worked to create action plans around three goals: people, place and planet.

Woodfire Camping is all about a conviction that life is better outdoors. It's growing in ways we couldn't have imagined - a testament that others feel the same way. We love nothing more than meeting the huge variety of people who come to Woodfire and are always open to new suggestions and collaborations, Stella and Griff

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

Great location, easy to find and loads of open space, although quite exposed, so gets the sun and wind in equal measure. Check in was smooth, on-site bar, kitchen was fab. Great place for the kids to roam. Loved the weekend we spent here.
