This site is in a lovely location at the top of Birchover village. It's a huge site with vast fields for events and also a large camping field. There are 2 areas of hardstanding pitches, one quite large, which we opted not to go on as the pitches were all very sloping. The other area is just next door, with just four pitches and facing the camping field. We found the pitch quite level and the facilities were only seconds away. When we were there, the site was hosting a charity event on the main field which meant there was a lot of activity as marquees and a stage were put up, but it was interesting to watch. The 'mega marathon' the entrants were taking part in kicked off at 6am on the Saturday morning, so we were woken by the loudspeakers as the groups were given their countdown before the off! There are plenty of showers and toilets located around a courtyard near to the reception. All facilities were clean, even with the hundreds of extra guests they had to accommodate. In the village there are two pubs, only a few minutes walk away. We tried both but much preferred the Druid Inn at the edge of the village. Would fully recommend their Sunday lunch, absolutely delicious, with loads of thick juicy roast beef, freshly cooked veg and lots of it. There is the 172 bus service which was very reliable to take you into Bakewell or Matlock, our journey to Bakewell took the 'scenic' route so we got to see so many quaint, tiny villages! If you walk to the top of the camping field, you come out on the bend of the road that goes out of the village. From here, you will find the footpath that takes you to the Cork Stone and the Nine Ladies stone circle - fabulous walk! From our pitch, we had views across the dales and as we were blessed with sunny weather, each morning we woke to beautiful sunrises. This site is fabulous, very well maintained with a rustic charm - would definitely recommend.

Stunning location for walking. Great pub 5 minutes walk, Druid Inn. As it was end of season it was very quiet and shop and reception not manned. Pitch was roomy, electric hook up. Alpacas and lovely Jacob sheep, peacocks and cows! Would to come back in the spring.
Loved it - stayed 3 nights, 2 people and a dog!

Amazing scenery, beautiful walks, quiet nights. Friendly staff, very helpful and always around when you need them and the on site shop has everything you need for camping. Cleanliness of toilets and shower rooms was spotless every time. We didn't use the games room but for kids, that looked so much fun! Totally recommend to every camping family. We will definitely be going back! And the peacocks there were friendly and beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and our dog enjoyed himself too! Thank you Barn Farm x

We've just had 3 nights in the wettest, windiest weather, but had a great stay at Barn Farm. They've thought of everything, lovely facilities and in an ideal spot for Rowtor Rocks and other walks from the campsite. Thanks so much Barn Farm team!
Very well kept site

Very clean toilets and showers. Not many level pitches so take ramps and some pieces of wood to level up. Nice site shop which had enough food and camping items. There's 2 pubs in the village which are very good and do food.
Friendly and peaceful

Buses to Matlock 9 miles away, very big 2 hour gaps. Ours didn't turn up to bring us back, and it's the only service. We had to wait 2 hours for next one with no information! Shop on site felt was very understocked, as especially as there's no shop in village. It could stock food essentials. Toilets and Showers very clean. Nice surroundings and views, alpacas and peacocks were nice to see. Red Lion one of 2 pubs there, closes Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Little else to do, so as you would have to travel out, don't rely on the bus.

Overall, a good quality stay, but I do have a mixed opinion on this campsite. The site itself is very picturesque and the toilets and showers are clean, no issues with sanitation here. However, the shop was closed the whole time, despite its opening times stating otherwise. I do understand that it was the end of summer (September 2nd) but never stated that its operation was dependent on business, unlike the bar and food trucks which had been stated to not be open if it wasn't peak season. To add, the camping field was on a slope so challenging to sleep at times. Despite this, we did enjoy our stay very much and the local area including walks was good.
Happy campers

This is a lovely site with great facilities, tucked away in a quiet part of the Peak District. Very friendly staff and a super location for walking, visits to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and many other well known sites in the wonderful Peaks.

Been quite a few years since we stayed at Barn Farm. It is still a great site for every age. Very clean facilities and plenty of them. Friendly reception from site staff, happy to give information. Great location for good walks, and easy access to bus for visits to other towns. The two pubs in Birchover are within a few minutes walk and serve good food. We love the Druid Inn! We will definitely be returning to Barn Farm next year.

First time staying at Barn Farm, located in a great area close to Bakewell and Matlock. It was very easy to get around the local area. Some great walks close by too. The site itself was good, facilities were good and kept clean, children made good use of the playground which was kept in a good safe condition. The staff on site were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we would definitely recommend to anyone. We will be returning again.

This was our second stay at Barn Farm camping and we will definitely be returning again. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and the facilities were very clean and well kept. We loved the games room and enjoyed multiple games of table football, air hockey and pool. We were a bit disappointed that the table tennis table had disappeared. There was lots of space for outdoor games, which is always a bonus!

We loved staying here with our granddaughter. The facilities were excellent and very clean. She loved spotting the peacocks roaming around. I really liked that there were no extra annoying costs for awnings or children. The local pub was within walking distance and very welcoming. We enjoyed the local walks very much and it was great to have a bus service between the nearby villages.
