We had a lovely stay at Wolford Wood campsite, and Petra was an excellent host. The toilets and showers were very clean, the field was lovely with tall grass providing a nice feeling of enclosure and privacy. We stayed close to the woods where there was a very handy little table underneath a silver birch tree. Overall a great camping experience, would highly recommend! Thanks Petra :)

We found the campsite a great place to camp. The grounds felt wild and nature was all around. We used the site as a way to visit family in the area, so we're not around much. The facilities were clean and the wash up area useful in the rain. The electric kettle was a great help. The down sides for us were the two large mounds of dog mess we found as we were about to pitch our tent. Secondly was the wasp's nest which had not been managed and had been knocked to the ground, leaving a swarm of angry wasps which stung a small child. My husband is severely allergic to wasps and as a matter of safety, wasps nest should be removed in such public areas. While the use of fires is great, we chose not to have one. However, the proximity of other campers with fires left us concerned about fire safety and the use of a lot of water to put out a fire which sent steam smoke and ash across out tent. We would stay again but not on a busy August bank holiday.
Site's response
Thank you for taking time to leave us a review, Liz- we really appreciate your feedback. A wasp nest was not reported to any staff by campers over the weekend so to help us identify where it is for safe removal please could you get in touch. Rules regarding fires are fire pits are sent out in the arrivals email as well as posters around the camping kitchen and wood shed. We're sorry to hear that your tent was affected by other campers extinguishing their fire. Kind regards, the Wolford Wood Team

We had a lovely stay at Wolford Woods. Relaxed set up, where you are free to choose wherever you would like to pitch. We chose a secluded section in the woods which was perfect! Some campsites feel quite strict and like you are being watched over however not here! We were left to our own devises, everything we needed was available, like a self service log and fire pit area. The toilets and showers were clean and the site is really accessible to local Cotswold towns. I would definitely recommend this site to fellow campers looking for a wild camping style set up. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. Charlotte and David xx

Overall a very good experience. Not having a camping stove, what was offered (including the electric kettle!) was a big benefit. The facilities were good (but only 2 showers for the men) and I like the seating area where it was possible to sit and meet other campers. It took me quite a while though to find pitch amongst the long grass and I didn't meet the owners once.
Site's response
Hello Roger, Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. As a small business we really appreciate honest and detailed reviews as it helps us improve our services. We are a wild camping site hence the non designated pitches in the camping field with long grass but of course, we completely understand that sometimes it can be a bit tricky to seek out the perfect spot! We apologise that you didn't get to meet either of the owners, Marcus & Petra, but as it is the summer holidays they have been spending some time with the children so may have been off site when you arrived. We loved our stay, the location is fantastic. Very close to lots of things to do, we visited two National Trust properties and the Aboretum. Moreton-on-Marsh is also very close and lovely for a stroll and plenty of places to eat. The only downside to the campsite is as it is left to mostly meadow grasses there are limited areas to pitch tents, and some of the grasses are very tough and spiky and create little mounds, therefore very uneven and uncomfortable ground. We did really like the long grass but if tracks and pitches were mown, this would make it much more pleasant.
Site's response
Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. We really appreciate your feedback and will take onboard your suggestion for mown tracks to flatter and less prickly areas. We promote Wolford Wood as an area for 'Wild Camping' but with the luxuries of a toilet block with hot running water hence the long grass in the camping field. This also links in with ensuring the environment is as natural as possible to keep the biodiversity of flora, fauna and species thriving.

Our stay was lovely. We went with 3 kids (aged 2, 4 and 5) and stayed in our tents, they all loved it there. There was a small outdoor kitchen area where you can wash up use the fridge and kettle. The toilets and showers were lovely and clean. There is a field with a few different ball games so you can spend some time with the kids in there and the host is lovely and leaves you to enjoy your time. We walked around the grounds and the cabins look nice too. We will be coming back and would recommend.

A lovely site with lots of space. Great facilities - kettle, fridge, freezer, cups, hot water and tables & chairs to use! Host was very friendly and helpful. Although lovely to see a wild meadow, grass was a little too high. But would come back again :-)

Great campsite. It had everything we could have asked for. Remote-feeling location, but close to a small town for shopping. Open field to pitch where you want. Clean kitchen and shower facilities with running hot water. You can rent fire pits and buy fire wood with a QR code for payment. Lots of woods for kids to explore and they loved running wild. We were lucky to be there when it was quiet, we even had one night with the place all to ourselves.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review, Benjamin! We are so glad to hear you had a great stay and all facilities met your expectations.

A lovely place to stay in a gorgeous location. It was easy to get a taxi into town, which has lovely coffee shops and restaurants. Lots to explore in the local area and the cabins are the perfect home to return to after an adventure. Friendly owners, who are more than willing to help you with anything.

Had a great weekend at Wolford Wood and would recommend it to anyone wanting a slightly wild/back to basics camping experience with the backup of real loos and showers. The site is exactly as described and I was met by the owner who explained how everything works etc and I had complete freedom of choice to choose where to set up camp. At this time of year (Jan) it was very easy to be completely secluded from the other campers (should you so desire).
Site's response
