You can have the sunset, sunrise, a spot by the water or a secluded space with a campfire. You'll also have heated glamping which is ideal year round, such as a stylish 1960s Airstream, yurts, a gypsy caravan and cabin. About Cotswolds Camping at Holycombe

Relax and soak up this special place, set on tranquil land that dates back through time and the sounds of nature. At night the stargazing is something to behold, away from urban light pollution, and the site's stone circle has long been believed to create a special energy. Cotswolds Camping is set in the grounds of Holycombe Holistic Retreat Centre, which is the setting for weekend residential retreats, weekday classes and holistic therapies in the wilds of nature. It's also sited on the ancient site of a Norman castle - a Scheduled Ancient Monument, with a water-filled moat to boot. The site's ethos is to provide a peaceful, rustic, outdoor experience surrounded by nature and steeped in history. A big part of that is keeping the quiet atmosphere for guests. Aside from that it's relaxed, unallocated pitches - and you don't need to decide where until you get there. Just book a pitch and choose when you arrive. Campervans must be under 7m long to stay here. If you love a fire while camping, there are fire baskets for hire and fire wood for purchase on site. For those looking to get glam, why not try one of the beautifully furnished yurts (one with ensuite!), a 1960s Airstream, or an authentic gypsy caravan. All these glamping units come with a wood burning stove and heating, so they're toasty all through the winter months. The Airstream has been totally refurbished and has everything you need for a romantic getaway, a relaxing weekend with friends or just some time alone. Bell tents are a spring and summer only option, furnished with rugs, soft furnishings and a double futon with memory foam mattress. They also have a wood burner to keep you cosy. Or perhaps you'd prefer the Little Dutch glamping cabin, fully equipped with a double bed, a kitchenette including gas cooker, fridge and all cooking utensils and crockery. Unwind on your own patio with a table and chairs, complete with a fire pit. You can watch the sunset, or get ready for the sunrise - you could be by the moat, watching the wildlife or pick a more private spot. The choice is yours. Although older families are welcome, sorry, children under 12 are not allowed on site.

Camping and other glamping options such as the gypsy caravan and yurt are open year round. Bell tents are available from May until September.

A note from the site themselves...

We are thrilled to share our peaceful camping and glamping site on the serene grounds of Holycombe Holistic Retreat Centre, the home of our owners, Sally and Andy Birtwell.

Our ethos is simple - we want to provide you with a peaceful, rustic, and outdoor experience surrounded by nature and steeped in history.

We love our location here at Cotswolds Camping. Guests love to stargaze, and you can head to our stone circle area, which is said by dowsers to emit high amounts of electromagnetic energy!

We can't wait to have you experience our site with us,

The team at Cotswold Camping

Medium Tent - Grass PitchesAug 2024

Lovely little spot! Entrance is slightly secluded - when you turn off the main road you need to do another turn instantly to enter the campsite. Lots of spacious camping areas for tents and grassy areas between camping spots allowed for privacy. Very close to a path through Whichford Woods. Facilities were clean and easy to find. Surprisingly , the church bells did not disturb our sleep that much, but if you are a light sleeper then earplugs are advised.

FAQ

Check-in is available from 3pm and you must vacate your chosen pitch or accommodation by 11am on day of departure.

A full layout of the site can be viewed here.

Fire pits can be provided for use on camping pitches while the yurt, airstream, gypsy caravan and cabin all include their own outdoor fire pit. Firewood is also available to purchase onsite, or you can bring your own.

Whichford Woods is parallel to the entrance of the campsite and truly is a magical place, with lots of nature and wildlife. If you're lucky you'll spot grazing deer and muntjac. In May, the woods turn into a sea of bluebells and it's dazzling for nature fans.

There are plenty of alternative treatments on offer at Holycombe, such as massage, reflexology and hypnotherapy whilst you are camping, so be sure to book one of these before you arrive.

Whichford Pottery is also a wonderful place to visit, where there is a stunning garden, the Octagon gift shop and the marvellous Straw Cafe. They have gardening master classes and adult pottery workshops.

The Rollright Stones is a well known ancient site, consisting of three elements - The Kings Men stone circle, the King Stone, and the Whispering Knights. It's well worth a visit and is just up the road. Try counting the whispering knights and see if you can get the same number twice...

The award winning village pub, The Norman Knight, serves good meals and has a lovely view over the village green. They also have excellent live music nights and are open every day except Monday lunchtime.
