About Higher Culloden Farm

Just a five-minute walk from the heart of Camelford and sitting between Bodmin Moor and the north Cornwall coast, this friendly site strikes the perfect balance between glamping and back-to-basics wild camping. Run by parents, India and Spencer, this site is especially geared towards children. There's plenty for your little ones to do on site, such as feeding the pigs, chickens and other animals in the mornings, exploring 15-acres including the stream that runs through the site and search for the hidden den, and stargazing around the communal campfire. Five cosy off-grid camping pods sleep two very comfortably or up to a family of four (king-size bed space and two small bench beds for children), plus room for a travel cot. Alternatively, bring your tent and spread out in a spacious tent pitch, boasting a private bathroom per pitch. With the pods, just grab your sleeping bags and have a go at camping without the hassle of having to pitch your tent. The pods are double glazed and insulated, so you don't have to worry about your neighbours' snoring keeping you up, or vice versa! And if you don't have the gear, you can hire a camping pack which includes all your cooking equipment and a lantern. Enjoy your own private lockable shower and toilet as well - forget queuing in the cold with your toothbrush! There are charging lockers for all your devices in the shared kitchens, where you'll also find a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Enhance your stay with a locally sourced charcoal for the free barbecues or get a fire pack and enjoy chatting around the large campfire area late into the evening. Being within the Bodmin Moor Dark Sky Landscape, the site boasts stunning skies on a clear night. If the weather takes a turn for the worst, there's a campers' barn with picnic tables for your fish and chips from town and table tennis for a friendly match. Located just off the A39, the site is also perfect for day trips. Enjoy rock pooling at Trebarwith Strand, the nearest beach only 15 minutes away, or visit world-renown surf beaches like Polzeath, Widemouth and Summerleaze in under 25 minutes. Tintagel Castle is also 20 minutes away, and The Eden Project is about a 40 minute car journey and well worth a day trip. Unfortunately, because of the fluffy animals on the farm as well as the abundant wildlife, no dogs or other pets are allowed on site. This place is great for those new to camping, for families with little ones to entertain, or for friend and family groups to take over the site. Enjoy all of the best parts of camping, without the concerns over the weather forecast or sharing facilities!

Glamping is available from 27th March to 29th September. Camping is available for Easter, the late May bank holiday week, weekends in July and then from 9th August to 2nd September.

A note from the site themselves...

There's something magical about our favourite place on the farm. There's a medieval cattle track that winds downhill along ancient hedgerows towards the river. It's where the piskies live amongst huge beech trees and you might catch them flitting back behind their doors along here at dusk.

Only the very best spotters can find all the doors! But if you don't see them, carry on quietly along the nature loop walk here and you may well glimpse deer running through the fields, or evidence of the hedgehogs that live here, you might hear the shrews chattering in the evening, bats darting overhead, and you'll probably see rabbits scampering away from birds of prey circling above.

Although we are so close to many of Cornwall's attractions, we are surrounded by nature here. It's absolutely magic and we'd love to share it with you!
