Visiting the Eden Project
The Eden Project deserves its reputation as one of the UK's most loved attractions and those who dismiss it as a fancy collection of greenhouses are a long way off the mark. Where else can you enjoy the world's biggest indoor rainforest, England's longest and fastest zip wire, and a superb treetop canopy walkway?
The Skywire isn't for the feint hearted mind you - after shelling out your £18 you'll plummet over half a kilometre at speeds of up to 60mph!
Fortunately, younger kids will be entertained enough with the discovery trail!
The epic biomes are superbly photogenic and have a serious wow factor. They, along with the 30 acres of gardens, are home to almost two million plants (over 5,000 varieties), a steamy jungle and waterfall - and a fascinating canopy walkway that takes you above the treetops.
Chocoholics will love seeing cacao trees in the rainforest biome laden with ripening cacao pods.
The annual summer series of Eden Sessions concerts are also hugely popular. In this environment, it's almost a mini festival!
As a family day out it isn't cheap, but with so much to see it's still good value - particularly on rainy days.
