We weren't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The site was well laid out with lots of places for water and waste. The facilities were exceptionally clean and tidy. There was plenty of space for the children and the dog to run around. Would highly recommend the site and would definitely visit again.

Good location, formerly Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne. Great location for the bus to go to nearby towns. Good walks, lovely scenery and a good country pub on your doorstep.

Lovely campsite on the edge of Hartington, a lovely village with some beautiful walks and pubs. Other popular walking spots were all only 20 minutes away. The campsite was very clean and well maintained. Our first time camping was a pleasure thanks to this site. Highly recommend.

Many thanks Rosie for your lovely review, pleased to read you enjoyed yourselves and will be back, Kind regards, Wayne and the team.

Lovely welcoming site. Parked up next to the stream which in summer, I'm sure is lovely. Weather not so good for my trip and I was underneath a tree, so sun wasn't really visible in the times I was parked up. Quiet policy between 10pm and 8am which I choose, though what sounded like racing cars zooming by at 3 am could not have been foreseen. Didn't use facilities much but they were modern and clean. Lovely wood fired pizza truck visits on a Saturday evening and they were very tasty. Great pub directly opposite campsite which is busy serving campers from the other nearby sites too from breakfast until evening meal.
Site's response
Many thanks Deborah for reviewing us. Pleased to read you enjoyed your stay overall. Unfortunately, we have no control over the loony boy racers who chose to cause all the noise at 3am, racing through the village. Kind regards, Wayne and the team.

Great views. Great amenities on a well run site by friendly owners. Only downside is that if you are pitched in the events field, you are by a well used road with tractors etc very early in the mornings. Also, bit of a hike to the amenities if you're on that field.
Site's response
Many thanks Michael for you review, pleased to see you had a great time. Sorry the road was noisy, it can get busy with the farmers when they are harvesting. Kind regards, Wayne & Team.

Very noisy next to road.

Hi Tom, sorry to read you were disturbed by the road noise. It can get a little busy during the peak season with the number of visitors to the area. Kind regards, Wayne and the team.

Bank House is one of my favourite campsites to date! The facilities were top tier; excellent and well stocked shops (cleaning supplies, sweet shop, toys, food, alcohol, wood), very clean and well kept toilets/showers/dish wash area. Lovely, well kept fields, and the aforementioned views were to die for. Also, the staff who were on duty (I forgot to get their names, unfortunately) were so nice and helpful! There is a very nice pub with a garden at the end of the campsite's driveway, and a pizza van on a Saturday night as well. Plus only being a stones throw away from some great little towns. The literal only downside was the hill that the site sits on gives you quite the walk to and from the top camping field and means you have to make sure you have orientated your bed and tables correctly. But other than that, absolutely no downsides! Can't wait to come back to be honest.

Hi Holly, many thanks for your lovely review, so pleased to read how you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, Wayne and the team.

We stayed at this site for a long weekend with the aim of it being a base from where we could drive to enjoy walks and cycling. However, we didn't need to drive anywhere as there is a great trail nearby, which we walked twice (once taking in Ecton Hill with misty views). We cycled from site to Waterhouses on another day. We were pitched next to the river which ran through the site. Local facilities great, with lovely food at the Visitor Centre and the pub opposite. There was even a pizza trailer on site on the Saturday. Perfect. Thank you.

This site is in a great location, close to Hartington and right opposite the pub. It's green and pleasant and handy for walking too. Call me old fashioned but I still think that 40 quid a night for a patch of gravel and grass and a toilet is a bit steep.
Site's response
Hi Tony, thanks for your review. Good to see you enjoyed your stay although you found us a little pricey - it's not cheap running a big campsite like Bank House. We pay 20% VAT on the £40 so the government get £8 of that fee, then we have all the other costs involved with running a campsite like wages, water and heating bills, recycling costs, ground maintenance and fantastic facilities with underfloor heating. Hope that explains a little where costs go too. Kind regards, Wayne and the team.

Everything we needed at this campsite including a great area for walking dogs. Only downside was an intermittent unpleasant smell which I can only assume came from the river as we were parked next to it.
Site's response
Many thanks Alison for your lovely review, sorry about the smell. Kind regards, Wayne and team.

Last minute getaway, campsite extremely well organised and good facilities. Pitch was large and adequate for motorhome, quiet and peaceful. View was scenic across a small river (minor aspect trees could be cut to see more of gorgeous scenery). Ramps required as pitches not very level, areas maintained well.

Thanks for your review Judy, pleased to read you enjoyed your last minute getaway with us. Kind regards, Wayne & team.

Very good little campsite, very good toilet/shower facilities. Only downside is our fully serviced pitch was a tad smaller (if you have an awning) than were used to. Extremely good pizza van on Saturday night. Well worth it. Dog friendly, nice little pub across the road.
Site's response
Many thanks for your review Martyn, glad you enjoyed the pizzas, they're delicious. Regards, Wayne & team.
Nice site and good location but one key issue

The site was in a lovely location and the fire pits were great. I fully acknowledge that we knew when we booked that the toilets were in the other field opposite ours. However, the reality is that they are a 5 to 10 minute walk, depending on your speed. You also have to walk a few minutes along the road where there is no footpath and at 3 in the morning, when all you have is a torch on you, it is less about the inconvenience but genuinely feels unsafe. Given how many campers were in that field, it really does feel like there would be a real benefit in a portacabin or some portaloos that just needs a toilet. We wouldn't stay again based on that.
Site's response
Thanks for taking the time to review us, Kirsty. A few points to reply to your concerns. The walk to the facilities is no longer than 5 minutes, even at a slow pace. When you book that field, it is made very clear that we have no facilities and you need to walk back over, unfortunately because of the peak park planning restrictions, I do not have an option to put any facilities over on the meadow. We would recommend you invest in a toilet tent if you are new to camping, as this always helps. Families love the meadow as it gives lots of space and freedom, we have never had any problems with safety. Kind regards, Wayne & team.

Really lovely campsite (if a little on the pricey side). We had a pitch by the river. We weren't allowed our awning but that was fine, as it was only a two night stay. Very clean and very quiet.
Site's response
Hi Sara, thanks for your review, good to see you had a great time, you can book a riverside awning pitch next time, we have both non-awning and awning Riverside. Kind regards, Wayne.

A brilliant site, with a shop on site which is very handy. It has all the basics you'll need and they have 2 fridge-freezers for you to use, which is brilliant when you're camping. The toilet and shower facilities were very clean and thoroughly cleaned once a day. They also have cavendish pizza on a Saturday, which was beautiful, as this was wood-fired pizza!
Site's response
Hi Bethany, many thanks for your great review. The pizzas are certainly a hit with campers and they're delicious. Kind regards, Wayne.

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend at Bank House Farm, the campsite has all the facilities you need for a relaxing break away and a convenient shop with the essentials and more. We stayed it the meadow field, which was spacious and peaceful with the relaxing sound of a river in the background. We were aware this field did not have the campsite facilities and would need to walk to the main site, this wasn't an inconvenience for showers and pot washing, but maybe a portable toilet in the meadow field would make the stay even better. Many thanks, will definitely stay again :)
Site's response
Hi Scott, thanks for your review, pleased to read you had a great time. We have tried several times to put porta loos on the meadow field but unfortunately they don't work due to how messy they get. Kind regards, Wayne.

Good central location, to go off in different directions. Nice pub (The Manifold) right next to site and has WiFi. If you're in the Meadow or bottom field, it's a short walk down the road to the main site/toilets/reception. Good clean facilities open all night. Very busy when we got back on Friday evening to Meadowfield, so if you're just in a van, put a windbrake up before you leave, so you don't loose your spot. We enjoyed our stay.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your review, good to read you had a nice time, kind regards, Wayne.
Just a field across a busy road

We picked here due to reading the reviews but wished we didn't bother. Turned up thinking this is lovely to be told we were over the bridge. Turns out to be a spare field. They were cutting the grass and left it on the floor. Grass was everywhere, especially when it rained. The main site wasn't like this. No facilities. When you needed to wash pots or use the toilet and shower, you had to cross a busy, dark country road on a blind corner. Seeing families doing this with young children was horrible. It says no groups and there were groups. We put ourselves in a corner away from everyone as I'm noise sensitive. First 2 nights were lovely, but then a group turned up of about 12 young adults. Night time, they were drinking and singing well past the no noise time 10pm till 8am. When asked about groups, the owners said they don't allow them. Not sure how this place gets any rewards. Been camping over 30 years and will not be returning or recommending.
Site's response
Hi Sasha, sorry to read you did not enjoy your stay. We absolutely don't accept any large groups over 4 pitches and any groups of 4 have to be pre approved by us. We had no issues with noise the weekend you stayed, just family and friends having a great time camping. When you booked the meadow field it clearly states we have no facilities over on this field and you need to walk back over to use them. The grass is cut using a ride on mulching mower, unfortunately if it's rained when we cut it sometimes doesn't mulch as good as when it's dry, we have a limited window to cut grass during the summer holidays due to how busy the site is. We get our rating and rewards due to all the hard efforts we all put in to making Bank House the great place it is, as you can see from the many great reviews we get. Wayne.
