Ideally located between the A1237 and the A64, Wagtail Park in North Yorkshire is set in ten acres of landscaped parkland, just three miles from the historic centre of York. Choose from a range of spacious pitches suitable for both tents and tourers. There are several cosy camping pods too. Open all year round, spend your days fishing in the lake on site or head to Monks Cross shopping centre for some shopping. Dog-friendly.

Camping Pod - Camping Pods (No Dogs)May 2022

This site is absolutely amazing. The owner is fantastic and as soon as we arrived, he came and met us and told us loads of information about the surrounding area. And also about the best bait to use on the lodge- my husband spent all day Saturday there and caught plenty. It was defo worth the few hours drive. Will certainly be coming back.

Great little campsite

Large Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent PitchesMay 2022

Stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting York. The campsite has everything you need. Spacious pitches and clean facilities. Other campers were friendly and respectful. Thanks to Peter for a friendly welcome and tips for transport/takeaways etc. We will return next time we are visiting York.

A lovely, quiet site

Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring PitchesMay 2022

This is a great park to unwind in, although it is a fair drive to any attractions. The briefing upon arrival was fantastic and relevant to our needs. Walking along the road is not recommended for good reason, and taxis are very hard to get. Picturesque setting though.

Site's response

Thank you for your feedback, Peter. I do always tell people to book taxis well in advance - I've been a taxi driver myself so I know how hard it is to book one last minute. There are bus stops about 1.2 miles away, either a park and ride one or a bus stop in the village of Huntington.

Great 3 night stay

Definitely recommend this well-cared for and clean site. Well spaced pitches and fishing pond too.

Peace and quiet, just a stone's throw from the city

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring PitchesApr 2022

On arrival we were welcomed and assisted to our spot - as well as provided with some very welcome advice (we are new to caravanning). Once there, the site was clean and quiet - small enough to be friendly but large enough to get on with your own thing. We were able to use it as a staging point for shopping trips and eating and drinking in the evening. Very cost effective way of getting into town - we will be returning.

Lovely

A lovely quiet campsite, shower block/toilets and washing up facilities great, kept nice and clean, we used the taxi service to take us into the city, cars were prompt and the price fixed. Great if you like fishing. Would definitely use again.

Excellent, tranquil experience

Small Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent PitchesMar 2022

I am more confident about the quality of campsite which I intend to book in the future i.e. already booked for another weekend stay! By the way, I am 69 years of age this year - do not let age prevent you from living life to the full! I think this response says it ALL!

Great location, amazing staff

Great location, only 15 minutes drive from the city centre and a £10 taxi with a local firm, plus the staff are very helpful and will go out of their way to help you.

Short city break

Twin Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring PitchesFeb 2022

A nice site, well laid out & with easy access to York City. It was fairly quiet at the time of our visit, so had the facilities pretty much to ourselves. My only criticism is that there isn't anything for the kids to do, but we knew that before we booked.

Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring PitchesFeb 2022

A lovely site in a great location. The fishing ponds were definitely a draw and would make us go back in better weather. A shame you could hear the motorway traffic but it didn't disturb us too much.

Definitely be back!!!
