About Shepherd's Rest

Located on a small family farm, the campsite boasts views over the rolling countryside in the Scottish Borders - explore both Scotland and England, with Northumberland nearby. The farm is run non-intensively, so you can enjoy seeing the wildlife and happy farm animals roaming the fields. Although in a completely rural setting, the site is just 15 minutes from some spectacular unspoilt beaches and the local town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Great accessibility too with local train routes to Edinburgh and Newcastle or less than an hour's drive from both. Welcoming campervans and motorhomes up to 6m in length, there is a separate camping area laid out with grass pitches without electric. For those looking for tent pitches, there is another separate area with dedicated grass pitches and a limited number of electric hook ups available. Each pitch has plenty of space for privacy and for allowing kids to play, including large fields where they can explore for hours. For an even more comfortable holiday, there are luxury heated shepherd's huts. Sleeping two, each is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay, including a cosy double bed, linen and towels, and a kitchen and dining area with all utensils and crockery. No camping trip is complete without gathering around the fire pit, especially as the dark night skies here are ideal for some stargazing! You can also hire fire pits should you forget your own, as well as purchasing supplies of wood and kindling. Sorry, due to being a working farm with livestock no pets are allowed.

Shepherd's Rest is open from 01/04 to 30/09.

Facilities and amenities

The main facilities area has a shower block, toilet block and a washing up area, there is also a separate toilet near the tent and campervan pitches. You can also find a small communal kitchen area, with hairdryers and charging points.

A 10 minute walk down the country road brings you to a local bus service connecting nearby towns and the main railway station.

A note from the site themselves...

We opened our campsite in April 2019. Located on our small environmentally run family farm. Surrounded by wonderful countryside, in a quiet location. We are lucky to wake up with the sounds of birds in the morning and to roam amongst the fields and woods.

Enjoying the wildlife and our happy farm animals roaming the fields whilst breathing in the fresh country air is one of our favourite things to do. The dark night skies here are ideal for some stargazing. We hope you enjoy it here too. We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely campsite!

Wonderful camping spot in beautiful area of Scottish borders. Great site with absolutely lovely owners who have created a lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and adventure around the borders, lots to see and do with the friendliest of welcomes from everyone we came across. Beautiful beaches, great swimming, lovely towns and walking. Three days wasn't long enough so will be back soon!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Campervan PitchesMay 2024

Great wee campsite, clean facilities. Stayed 2 nights (no hook-up) on grass campervan pitch - good that our son stayed in adjacent tent area. Host was very friendly and helpful. Nice touch with the little barn lounge and quirky camping huts. Great, quiet location - not too far from Berwick and A1 - would recommend.
