We have stayed previously, but there are new facilities this year which are top notch. The location is central for the Lakes and other lesser known places. The site is about a minutes' walk to the Lancaster canal. Great for dog walkers. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Pitches are a good size and the site generally is very quiet and calm.
Site's response
Hi Pauline, thank you for staying with us again and recommending Little Acre on Campsites.co.uk. We're constantly trying to improve the site, but doing it in such a way that it doesn't spoil it for the reasons that people keep coming back to us - and it reads like we're getting the balance right! Enjoy your touring and it will be lovely to host you again. Paul.

We stayed here last week for a first overnight stay. It is a very easy to get to location, just off the M6. A nice little site with very pleasant and helpful owners who greeted us with a big smile. There is some road noise, as previously said, though it is not too loud. There is a nice walk directly from the site along the side of the pretty canal going north or east. There was a bit of building work going on when we stayed which meant the nearest men's showers were not useable but there was another shower block further along. Ladies toilets were clean and some nice little extra's had been added. Toilets did seem to struggle to flush in both ladies and gents blocks. It's a nice base and a nice stop over, not a lot to do in the immediate area but we would definitely stay again.
Site's response
Hello Steve, thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. Paul. P.S. The loos are checked several times a day and I haven't come across any issues with the loo struggling to flush - in the new block, you are able to do a half flush, which isn't as powerful.

Greeted by owner, which was nice. Some parks you self check in and then just leave. Personal touch matters! Shower and toilet facilities were just amazing! Great location, lovely site. Would definitely stay again.

The shower blocks and washing up facilities are amazing. Spotlessly clean, modern and a bit posh for campers, a really lovely surprise. We had a lovely warm welcome and really useful information about the best bridge to go to for Dave Day. Our only issue was the music from a VW festival a couple of fields away until 3.30 am! Not the fault of the lovely people onsite and it happens just once a year - we were unlucky. Catching up on sleep today. Loved our neighbours, there were ducks on the pitch next to us for a while and Lancaster canal was lovely to walk along.
Site's response
Hi Suzanne, watching the Dave Day ride-by was something special wasn't it? This season, the ducks seemed to have taken to human company as I see them wandering from pitch to pitch. The disturbance from the VW festival was hugely disappointing (previous events have passed without a hitch) and I'm aware that the County Showfield (who's field it was on) have had numerous complaints from people in the area. Hopefully it won't reoccur in the future. Paul.

Lovely owners. Excellent communication throughout, from booking to arrival. Great location for exploring the area. New toilet and shower block is luxurious, shampoo etc is provided as well, which was a nice surprise. You need 20p (3 mins per 20p) to use the showers but well worth it. The other block is going to be refurbished as well. Nice little tearoom (Farletonview Cafe) within walking distance was suggested to us by the owners. Lovely ladies who run the cafe, with a good choice of food and homemade cakes. Nice canal walk next to the campsite. The Crooklands hotel and restaurant is literally round the corner so nice if you don't want to cook. Although, we only had a drink there so cannot comment on the grub itself. Overall a great site, will definitely return in the future.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us, Frances, and letting others know about your stay via Campsites.co.uk. It will be good to host you again when our "original" shower and loo block has been totally refurbished. Paul

This was our second time. Both visits were for three nights to meet up with someone who lives in area. The pitches are close together and feel very cramped. The one we were allocated was barely big enough for a twin axle van. The facilities are very good though unisex toilet/washrooms are not to everyone's taste. The old toilet block was pretty well out of commission, which meant the new block was very busy. Can't understand why work on the old block was not done in winter when it's quieter.
Site's response
Hello Alan, thank you for coming back to me as a returning customer and I'm sorry that you feel disappointed this time around. The pitch dimensions haven't changed since the last time that you were here and I allocated you the same pitch as you had last time - thinking that this would suit you. The pitch comfortably takes a twin-axle caravan, with a full sized awning, but I can appreciate that some other pitches are even wider and can take a twin-axle caravan with full sized awning even more easily. The brand new shower, loo, laundry and washing up block has been very well received and we made a conscious decision to create unisex rooms for the showers and loos - each is a separate room with a full height door and a lock. When the work on the "original block" has been completed, we will have separate male and female facilities available again, for anyone who isn't happy to use the brand new unisex block. Sadly, we didn't have a choice in the timing to do the work on the "original shower block" - if we could have chosen a different time for the pipe to burst in the attic, destroying the ceiling, lights, electric cables, electric mirrors, toilet partitions, wall coverings, worktops and wet room floors, we would have done. We currently have the ladies' shower and loos in the "original block" working again and the inside of the gents' side have been completely stripped back to the original brick. Progress is being made and the "original block" has been completed rewired and replumbed and a new ceiling and floor has been installed into the gents. The next step is to add solar panels and a new roof to the building (the original block should then be powered, heated and hot water provided by solar), before be can apply new wall coverings, partitions and worktops. As I'm sure you can appreciate, it's quite a large undertaking. Once the gents' side has been completed, we'll then move on to the ladies' and the ladies' will also get a 100% refurbishment and modernisation. It's been a huge undertaking, but one that will be well worth doing once completed. Enjoy your touring Alan and I hope that you are able to find caravan sites that fit your requirements. Paul.

We stayed for 2 nights at the same time as the nearby Country Fest. The site owner was extremely helpful and loaned us an extension lead for electric hook-up. The facilities have been upgraded and one whole block was work in progress. Once that is done, it will improve things significantly. On our first night the toilets and showers were in use a lot, so we had to wait on a couple of instances. We also had a pitch on a bit of a slope but not a major issue. All in all, great and Kirkby Lonsdale is a must! Also, Levens Hall and its topiary garden. Stunning!
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and recommending Little Acre on campsites.co.uk, Steve. We now have the Ladies shower and loos working in the "original" toilet block and the gents won't be to far behind. Once completed, the "original" block will have been replumbed, rewired, reroofed, re-walled, refloored, repanelled and all fixtures and fittings will have been replaced - it'll be like Triggers broom! The vast majority of pitches are flat and ready to go and for the odd few that have a bit of a slope, I leave self levelling ramps for people to borrow, which seems to go down really well. I hope that you return to see the improvements, Paul

I must admit when I first pulled on to the site I liked the look of the site and the owner was most helpful. Then I went up to the facilities block and the men's was completely shut off, with builders equipment blocking all access, however the women's was open and the wife said they were lovely. After a bit of thinking 'what have I done stopping here?' I realised that there was another block in the other field, so I wandered over there and, well, it was like walking into a five-star hotel room. In fact I had a shower this morning and I can honestly say I have never had a shower that good in any hotel ever. The campsite was really nice, friendly, welcoming and in fact homely. I would highly recommend this site to anyone.
Site's response
Thank you Mark We're part way through a total refit of the facilities block that you found. Behind the scenes, the gents has been totally re-ceilinged, replumbed, rewired and refloored and this week (if all goes to plan) it'll be re-walled and new partitions installed. It's a total refurbishment and modernisation, and then once completed, we're moving onto the ladies to do the same. Plus, the new solar panels are going onto the roof on Monday, so from then on, all of the hot water will be supplied by solar! I'm glad that you enjoyed the other facilities block - since we completed it in Summer 2023, it has proven to be very popular. Travel well and I hope that we can host you again. Paul

Not far from major roads, but still feels very much in the countryside. New shower and toilet block better than most 4 star hotels in the UK - they are lovely. Can't tune a mobile home tele in from here though. Good half way stop on the way to Fort William.
Site's response
Hi Jon, Thank you for staying with us on your way to Fort William (through the season, we have lost of people on their way to/from Fort William/Loch Lomond!) and I'm glad that it went well for you. TV reception varies across the site, with some people having no problems at all and others (like you! ) having no success - on the plus side, if you have a Smart TV or Fire Stick, you can watch your TV via our complimentary Wi-Fi. Enjoy your touring, Paul.

Super site in a great location for enjoying both the Yorkshire Dales and the Morecambe coastline. Very dog friendly and there is a lovely walk in either direction up the beautiful canal straight from the site. Fully recommend and we will definitely be back.
