I've stayed here 5/6 times now over the last 10 or so years and it never fails to disappoint. The peaceful, scenic stroll down to Robin Hood's Bay is a real highlight for me as I think the tiny coastal town is such a beautiful place to spend time, and I have many treasured memories there thanks to this perfectly situated campsite. The campsite is spacious, so offers space for children to play around in, making it ideal for families, but also the beautiful setting makes it perfect for couples too. There is always such a friendly atmosphere every time I come here and it has started to feel like a second home to me now. I can't recommend this place enough, and as for the location, anyone who hasn't explored this beautiful part of the country is missing out.

The campsite was relatively quiet, it was mid week and not school holidays. I expect it will get very busy at peak times. Looking at the pitch spacings, you'd be packed in like sardines at peak times. The toilet block was ok, small, but fine for the number of people there. The pitch was on a bit of a slope, but it was manageable. The main problem for us was a dog barking in the neighbouring houses. This was intermittently throughout the day and night. Having a dog with us, during the night, the barking would wake our dog who would bark or growl back. So we had very little sleep. Not helped by someone in a camper van slamming his boot until 1am. We were like zombies the next day.

Absolutely loved this site, so peaceful in a beautiful setting. The site is well maintained, the facilities are cleaned twice a day with lovely showers. The short walk to Robin Hood's Bay was lovely. Definitely coming again, can't wait to come back.

Poor site facilities

Poor site facilities for a supposedly '5 star site'. Would not recommend or go back. 3 water taps for the whole site, very poor quality hardstanding, I feel that the recycling needs sorting out - all rubbish seems to go in a skip.

Really enjoyed our weekend, facilities on family field a little dated but clean and all working. Play park was lovely. Walked down into Robin Hood's Bay along a cinder track, just a fab location. We had 4 and 7 year old who both had the best weekend!

We stayed with young children for a weekend away. The campsite was clean, pitches were a decent size, there were farm animals around. The site was a 10 minute walk down to the Robin Hood's Bay village which was perfect. The facilities were great, lots of toilets close to the pitches, park area for the children, freezer and laundry room, lots of bins around. We would definitely visit again! Thank you.

Spacious pitches with a stunning backdrop! Nice walk into Robin Hoods Bay, direct from farm. Clean and hot water showers. Near to Whitby Bay for a day out. No shop onsite however shop and pub within walking distance in pretty village.

Extra large pitches!

Pitches not as large as implied. Toilets where clean. Site was a bugger to get to if you have a large unit, the road to it was closed so a diversion was in place. It would be wise to warn people on approach to the site to warn of the village access as the locals park on the road and have not other choice, so it will be tight for larger units. It was tight getting past and out again, so we personally would not visit again. But smaller units tents etc it would be okay. I'd not say the pitch was extra large.
Site's response
I was sorry to read your negative review which mainly concerned a road closure which I have no control over! It was just for 1 day. If you had read our information, you would have seen our directions. As regards the pitch sizes, they are 10 metres wide, is that not enough?

This was my first time in a glamping pod, and I was not disappointed. The pod was clean and fitted with electric lights, heater, power points, microwave and electric kettle. The bed was comfortable and the insulated pod was good protection against chilly nights. The site facilities were cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis. During my stay, the grounds were also being maintained to high standard, grass trimmed, tent pitches being rolled, pot holes filled and rolled and hedges trimmed. Overall, the site is of a high standard. The site is a short walk from Robin Hoods Bay and also well located for access to Whitby, Scarborough, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend, all within 15 to 30 minutes drive, which suited my requirements exactly, fossil hunting on the many beaches the area had to offer, and taking in the views from the many walks. Shops were within easy reach on the approach to Whitby. The area also offers numerous walking routes, and splendid views can be had along sections of the Cleveland way and North Yorkshire path. Overall, I would highly recommend this site, whether in tent, caravan, motor home or pod. There are numerous attractions along this coast to suit all tastes

We loved the site as it had everything we needed. We stayed on the family field which was just the right size and had a park which kept the kids entertained when we needed to pitch the tent etc. The facilities were as expected, nice enough and clean toilets and a clean wash up area. The ground wasn't too waterlogged despite the awful rain we've had so that was an unexpected bonus! The only downside was that we had some very noisy neighbours. We chose the family field as we camped with our 3 and 4y old, and assumed night time would be quite. We deliberately put the boys to bed late both nights as we know it's expected to hear noise late into the evening. But both nights, we lay in bed listening to our neighbours be loud and merry until 11:30pm. They were a group of 'later in life' people with no kids and I completely get why they would want to do that, it's their holiday, but I was confused why they would stay in a family field with kids on if they wanted late nights drinking? It didn't ruin things, the kids slept through it, and luckily the rain drowned them out on the second night. But it would have been nice to not have that. Overall though, really lovely place and perfect location to walk to the beach, so would definitely stay again.

Short drive to Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby. The toilets/showers are lovely and clean. The entrance to the field has a barrier which is locked between 11pm-7am so if you're a night owl, this isn't for you.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. The barrier does not stop you walking into the Park, but it does stop cars entering the Park and disturbing our guests.

Nice site well located for a 30m min walk through farmland and a glen to Robin Hood's Bay. Or 45 mins via roads and footpaths. Facilities were clean and well maintained (given the wet weather). An on site shop would be a bonus, but we really should have planned ahead. Pod was minimalist but suitable and the matress/pad was comfortable.
Site's response
Thank you for your 5 star review. We do not have a shop on site as this would put the local shop (5mins walk) into the village, out of business! We like to support local businesses.

Very nice site and well maintained. We stayed on the back field, which became very flooded during heavy rain. Owners offered a refund and were very helpful. Very good location, with nice views. We will be back during the better weather.

Nice well thought out site with roads to each pitch, only fall-back was toilets were closer to caravans and motorhomes who have facilities in their vehicles, should have the tents closer.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. The toilets are where they are due to planning conditions.

Due to rain, the site was waterlogged. Drainage very poor, nearest water point was disconnected, next nearest was flooded. I would stay again but it needs to have been a very dry spell prior and no rain forecast for the stay. This site is rated 5 star but I felt I have been on better for less.
Site's response
I am sorry that it rained before and on your stay with us. As you may know, I do not control the weather! Maybe next time you might like to try our Glamping Pods. PS. Fields do not drain instantly, even tarmac is wet when it is raining!

Campervan & we were told we'd been moved onto hard-standing (not available when we booked) when we arrived, which was great as there had been a lot of rain. 10 min walk to Robin Hood's Bay through the fields or 15/20 mins via the road (with footpath). 5 min walk from the Cinder Track (disused railway line) to Whitby or Ravenscar. Lovely circular walks to Boggle Hole YHA & café, for example, and on to the Cleveland Way. Had a great weekend.

This is a good site, especially as it is right on the old railway line walk. I really did not like the 5 limit on the showers, 2 mins to warm up 3 mins showering. I thought showers like that had gone from campsites 20 years ago.
