About Leadstone Holiday Park
Set between Exeter, Torquay and Paignton and just a 15 minute walk to a Blue Flag beach, this traditional campsite is a great spot for exploring South Devon. Welcoming families and dogs this is the perfect place for some classic camping fun! This seven acre campsite is laid out over four fields which are fenced and hedged to maintain privacy and a small site feel. Some pitches are on a slight slope so it is advised to bring chocks to help level it out. All pitches have electric hook up, measure a spacious 10m x 8m and allow car parking by the pitch. The Owl field is the largest of the four and is straight ahead of you when you arrive onsite and is suitable for tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes. Here there are pitches around the hedge for those who want some shade and some extra large pitches in the centre by some hedging for sun worshippers! The Badger field is past reception and the shower block and has the play park making it a great spot for families to pitch up. This field is more suitable for campervans and tents due to slight rolling hills. This is also where the visiting food trucks park so you'll be in the prime spot for a tasty meal. Fox Field offers large hedges for shade and glimpses of sea views. The rabbit field is the quietest with just nine pitches. There are also 20 seasonal pitches too. Pitches are on a sandy subsoil so rain disappears very quickly. Getting tent pegs in (and out of) the ground can be a real challenge at times, but that is all part of the fun. You can grab a morning pastry from the shop in reception and ask one of the friendly team members to help you plan your day exploring South Devon. As the evening draws on, and the children slowly run out of steam after a busy day, campers love the fact that the play park closes at 9pm so by 10:30pm it is quiet time - you may even hear the sea! No clubhouse and no pool are just two of the reasons campers return year after year - some for 40+ years! Parents bring their children who bring their children who bring their children - generations of families stay at Leadstone because that is how they remember camping - the old fashioned way. The site has easy access to the South West Coast path and the Exe estuary so either bring your bike or head out on foot and explore some stunning coastline! The 500 acre Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve is also within walking distance, a popular spot with birdwatchers and botanists. Dogs are welcome onsite. BBQs are permitted as long as they are raised from the ground, bricks can be provided by the site.

Things to do on site and in the Dawlish Warren area
The main attraction is of course the Blue Flag beach at Dawlish Warren - awarded Blue Flag status for many years now. It's lifeguarded in the main season. The Grand Prix Go-karts near the beach are great fun for all ages - there are some fast karts and two seater karts for all to enjoy.
'The car hasn't been used for a week' is a phrase frequently used here. Why would you? The bus stops at the gate taking you along the beautiful coast road to Torquay and onto Paignton for the zoo. Plenty use the train to explore the region too.
The sea wall trip between Dawlish and Teignmouth and onwards is popular and it connects to the steam train at Paignton for a trip to Dartmouth - now that is a great day out. A long (but level) walk into Exeter is another adventure. Jump on the train to Plymouth with its naval history.
Take the passenger ferry to Exmouth from Starcross, it's a great little cruise on the beautiful River Exe. How about trying the latest craze on water? Stand up paddleboarding, or just kayaking on the canal to a pub for lunch.
Hire a bike locally (or bring your own) and explore the Exe Estuary along the trail all the way around to Exmouth. There are some great downhill runs for braver cyclists in nearby Haldon Forest (there's a GoApe there as well).
If you fancy a pint there are five pubs within 10 minutes' walk, by which time you will be on the beach enjoying an ice cream. There is plenty of opportunity to enjoy a great meal locally too - pubs and the traditional seaside fare, fish and chips and ice cream.
Other nearby attractions include:
- Starcross Golf Course (5 minutes)
- Powderham Castle (10 minutes)
- Warren Golf Course (10 minutes)
- Torquay (35 minutes
- Exmouth (45 minutes)
