We stayed here with our two little boys (3&1) and it was just perfect for us. We loved seeing the peacocks & alpacas and the views were incredible! The little play park was great for us & easy to find. We stayed on a hard standing, electric and water hook up in our tourer caravan and we couldn't fault anything. Everything was clean and tidy, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The location is also great if you want a walk to a local pub, or even some sightseeing walks. Absolutely beautiful! Definitely be visiting again!

Amazing location. So well organised and adaptive to weather. We came for the family festival and they had everything covered, even when it rained they moved the band to the barn. Games room, public fridge/freezers, clean toilets and exceptionally run venue. 10/10.

Barn Farm is an excellent site both for DofE and personal camping. Mark is always happy to help. We have used this site for a number of years for Expeditions at both Silver and Gold. We will continue to stay at this site as the walking in this area is excellent.

Super site with lots of room for campers and lots of facilities. I've never stayed at a site before that had two blocks of toilets, two blocks of showers and two blocks of washing up facilities, you get the picture.

Great site and location. A slight issue with dogs wandering around and seemingly being allowed to do their business anywhere they like. No owners in sight to clear up. I am speaking as a responsible dog owner.

I thought the campsite was very good! Excellent showers and toilets, friendly staff and a nice part of country. A short walk into town to two very nice pubs, which both serve a good meal. I would recommend staying at this campsite.
Looks hilly but is surprisingly flat

Such an excellent site in a beautiful location. This was our second stay at Barn Farm this year because we loved it so much the first time and if we plan another trip to the peaks, we will be coming back! It is the best value for money campsite that I have found near to where we live.

Had an absolutely brilliant stay at Barn Farm with 5 dads and 9 kids (aged between 4 and 11). Very friendly staff, luxury pizzas, Euros on in the barn and really clean facilities - what more do you need? Would definitely come back!
Loved every minute

Cannot fault them on anything. Lovely staff, great location, clean facilities. Made the extra effort to put on the England Switzerland match in a barn, which was a brilliant way to watch it and fantastic atmosphere. Our party managed to screw up our booking and we'd booked into three different fields. The lady in reception made a real effort to rejig things so we could be together, despite the site being close to capacity. Kids loved the woods to make dens in and it's a good location in general to being walks from, which we did, heading out to the stone circle not far away. Will be back.

We've stayed at Barn Farm for several years now. We chose it originally for it's location in the country, well placed for friends travelling from Bristol, London, Newcastle. It's a great site to stay at, we choose the large field that has lots of space to camp in and arrange tents in a huddle with a gazebo in the middle. Toilets and showers are spotless even though there are lots of people using them (specifically Duke of Edinburgh teenagers). The butty van and the pizza people provide a bit of variety in terms of food so you don't have to do all the cooking. There are two lovely pubs in the village for beers and Sunday lunch. We spend our time relaxing and chatting and let the mix of kids who are aged 2-13 wander around and play in a safe environment, they love the shop and the arcade. There are also plenty of walks of varying lengths when a change of scene required (Robin Hood's Stride; Winster; Stone Circle). Thanks for another brilliant weekend, see you next year!

Marked down cleanliness as Duke of Edinburgh Award campers and you cannot expect teenagers to clean after themselves. Site is a bit exposed, so expect some wind. It is in a great location and there are walks from the site.
Best campsite ever!

Field 1 was peaceful despite lots of (well behaved!) Duke of Edinburgh kids elsewhere on the site. Very close to toilets which were cleaned regularly and drinking water points. Nice clean showers with plugs & hairdryers, also washing facilities available. Handy little shop and games room. Really great family-friendly site for kids. Friendly staff. Excellent location for exploring, we loved the Nine Ladies walk. The Druid Inn just down the road is fantastic. Easy to get to via public transport from Matlock and Bakewell. We loved the Peacocks, Alpacas and Polly the dog! Thanks for a lovely stay!

We haven’t camped a lot and we had a brilliant time here. We have two children who loved the play area. We appreciated the clean facilities and great customer service. As walkers, it’s a good base from which to take some local walks and the local pubs are an added bonus. Some maps from the site signposting trails and walks might be useful?

It's a great campsite, however, the peacocks are loud and the steward only told us to turn our light off, even though other groups had theirs on. Unfortunately for us, we went during a Duke of Edinburgh event which made it very busy.
Brilliant, thought of everything!

This campsite was absolutely brilliant and they had really thought of everything. Lots of facilities and very clean. If you love animals there are loads - alpacas, goats, dogs and peacocks!
Not as good as previous visits

We have stayed at this campsite numerous times before. However, this visit has made us not want to visit again. There were children playing football outside our caravan who continuously hit our car and caravan with the ball. The noise of screaming kids and people shouting carried on into the early hours of the morning. The toilets and showers were not enough for the amount of people on site and at points people were queuing 7-8 deep outside. It just wasn't the relaxing, peaceful visit that we have had here before so we won't be returning.

Brilliant site, well maintained and all facilities cleaned regularly. Helpful and friendly staff who will go the "extra mile" for you. Can be quiet during weekdays, but weekends and bank holidays are very busy.
Nice countryside stay

The site is within the Derbyshire Dales countryside with walks in different directions. It has some lovely views, but can get busy. The caravans are split into two different parts, and one of them shares this with tents, which isn't that great. The other one has a much longer walk to the facilities and the caravans are boxed in more. It's a nice place and the staff are polite, but watch-out for the night time security. He can be a bit bossy, but he isn't rude. When we stayed, the place was packed-out with lots of young people doing their D of E expedition training, so that kept the place busy, but they were in a different area. All-in-all, it's a nice campsite and people respected the 'music off' rule at 10.30pm.
