We used this site, and have done before and will do again, as a stopover whilst travelling to and from Scotland. Ideally situated from the motorway and by the Lancaster canal, so nice to have a stroll at the end of a long drive. Facilities are spotless. My only fault would be that there is only one shower for the ladies, so you may have to wait.
Site's response
Hi Anne, thank you for staying with us (again!) and I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at Little Acre. We have received planning permission for our new and enlarged toilet and shower block, with construction due to start in Winter 2022, so that should improve the (potential) waiting time. See you soon. Paul.

This is a great site that we have now used a number of times and will use again. This was the first time we have stayed there when it has been busy (both caravan/motorhomes and camping). The only downside was that there is only one 'wash up' sink which was in constant use. Another great stay, thank you.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us again Gerald and leaving such a lovely review. We've recently had planning permission passed for a new shower, loo, laundry and washup block and we'll be going from 1 washup sink, to 3 washup sinks, which should nicely improve things. Paul

Lovely little campsite just off the A65 and not far from the M6. A small amount of road noise but not enough to spoil the experience. Lancaster canal just over the road which was lovely for walking our ageing Labrador. Very convenient for the Dales and the Lakes and also to explore the Lune estuary. Lovely hotel just over the road serving great food. Booking is highly recommended as gets very busy.

Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation Diana.

You will get a warm welcome and a good-sized, level pitch on arrival. Little Acre is well situated just off junction 36 on the M6. Five minutes walk to the Lancaster Canal and the excellent Crooklands Hotel. Fifteen minutes drive to Arnside, Sizergh Castle, and Holker Hall, and only a little longer to the South Lakes, Forest of Bowland, and Yorkshire Dales.
Site's response
Thank you for the 5* rating and recommendation John. It looks like you packed a lot into your stay at Little Acre. Paul.

We looked all round the Kendal area and this one fit the bill best with regards to closeness to Kendal and value for money. Communication was excellent. The facilities are perfect and spotless. We didn't think to book for a meal at the local hotel so we were turned away, not the friendliest, but a quick cycle to Milnthorpe and I was able to rustle something up, but that's nothing to do with the site. Very peaceful night prior to an early start.
Site's response
Hello David. Thank you for the review and recommendation. It's a shame that you couldn't get into the "Crookies" - it has a good reputation and is very popular. To (hopefully) improve people chances of getting a table, I now provide a link to the Crookies booking diary, plus telephone number to contact them directly. It's a system that works well, but doesn't help if you've decided on a last minute break! Fingers crossed that you have better luck next time. Paul

Have just returned from a lovely weekend of camping here! The site was absolutely beautiful - really well situated just off the M6 motorway yet you are completely out in the countryside. The canal walks were lovely, the petrol station shop is very close by and we were able to eat a delicious lunch at The Crooklands Hotel, which was just a short walk away from the site and it was great. I hadn't arrived when the site owner met my friends that we were camping with but they said he was really nice and friendly. Shower block and toilets were immaculate and the shower (60p in 20ps getting you 9 minutes) was lovely and warm. We've really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return!

Paul came to see us once settled in, he was helpful and cheerful. The showers are 20p I used 40p for a full hot powerful shower, there's loads of room to change. The toilets have loads of extras - hair dryer, cotton buds, hand cream. Very clean. The wash area is great, washing liquid and cleaner supplies also lots of leaflets of things to do in the area. The Crooklands pub serves good food, booking is essential and dogs are welcome. The bus stop is outside the pub, £8.50 return into Kirkby Lonsdale, we spent the day and it is a beautiful historic town with loads to do - a fantastic river walk, lots of independent shops lovely cafes and restaurants and lots of nooks to discover the history. The canal runs just outside the campsite, a lovely walk in either direction. Water sports are within walking distance, and there is a boat trip from May onwards from outside the site.

I booked only a week before and was really lucky given it was Easter. Paul the owner was really helpful when I arrived with the camper (with my partner following later in the car). I hadn't filled the camper up with water before (partner's van) and he helped me to do this, loaning a hose. Fantastic pizza onsite on the Friday night (and an email in advance to let us know a chap was bringing a pizza oven). Lovely location with fab views and a really good 5 min walk to the local pub where the food was also excellent and plentiful (go hungry!). Very quiet site too. The only feedback I would give (and where I haven't give 5 stars) concerns the facilities. There are too few for when the site is busy (during Easter) but that being said, I only had to wait once for one person while they showered as I went off-peak. They were kept spotlessly clean too. I would definitely stay there again.
Site's response
Thank you for the loively review and recommendation Julia. There is an additional and much larger shower and loo block at Little Acre that is available for everyone to use and is very handy to have, especially on a busy weekend like at Easter. The good news is that we now have planning permission for another loo and shower block which will double the capacity for the customers who are using the tentfield part of the site (plus we'll have laundry facilities for the first) - fingers crossed, all will be in place for the 2023 season. Paul

Lovely stay can't fault at all. Around the corner from a lovely pub on the left hand side. We had a Chinese delivery delivered to the gate, amazing! Locals did recommended the Chinese in Crook and not the local one. Peaceful next to river. adult site I would say.
