Welcomed at the site on arrival and clearly shown where to pitch, as well as all facilities on site. Excellent guidance provided with questions about routes to different places and the local area. No mobile signal (Three) anywhere on site for me, but free wi-fi at the shop was enough when needed. Pizza from the shack on site was delicious and again great service.
Okay for one night

When we arrived we were told to go and find a space in a certain area. There were no spaces although to be fair I didn't arrive until 7:45 pm. We paid for a space though so it was a bit annoying to have to squeeze between two tents. The gentleman in the shop said they close at eight, but the pizza van remains open until nine. At 8:10 pm we went for pizza to be told there were none left. The toilets were clean and showers were okay. The park in general is kept very well. There are some lovely views although, depending on where you are pitched, they may be obscured by overgrown bushes. There was no Wi-Fi available except near to the shop/reception. This was fine as we were only there for one night.
Site's response
Thanks for the feedback and review. Sorry to hear you weren't able to find space to pitch. Had you returned to reception, one of our team would have been more than happy to have helped you locate a better spot for you to fit in to. The pizza van that we have on site is independent to us, so we have no control over their stock levels. However, we will ask him to up the number of pizza doughs that he prepares each evening prior to a day's service. Our Hedgrows are trimmed in the autumn and winter months, in line with DEFRA guidelines. This is to avoid any negative impact on nesting wild birds.

Absolutely stunning place to stay, with all the facilities you require. Great friendly staff, even the pizza guy on site was great. Will be recommending it to my friends and family. We travelled from Leeds and the drive was stunning once we left the motorway.

This is such a lovely site, just a walk away from the southern tip of Wast Water, a vast lake stretching up to Wasdale and the start of a walk up to Scafell Pike. The site is well kept and friendly, with a well stocked shop and regularly cleaned facilities. The pizza van was an added bonus! The friendly Strands pub is a stone's throw away. Thanks for a great stay.

Great spot, especially as we were climbing Scafell. Amenities were clean and tidy, shop seems to sell everything and there are pubs close by if you wish to eat out. Very friendly helpful staff. There is no signal on the site, but there is Wi-Fi by the shop.

Arrived later than expected...owing to increased traffic due to a rail strike. Met by a warden - who was very pleasant and helpful. The pitch was spacious, flat and quiet. The site was busy, but not full and everyone seemed to have been situated away from each other so felt private. Clean toilets and amazing views. Pub at the end of the lane - sadly didn't stay long enough to use it. Had breakfast at the Sawmill café - which was wonderful - new and next to the stream.... Will definitely return.

We spent two nights instead of the one we booked, and have already considered staying more, such a good atmosphere was there. The only problems are that there is no coverage to use the internet or phone and there is no possibility to charge your phone if you choose no electricity grass pitch. Camp provides wireless internet in the camp shop. But I was happy to disconnect myself from the network for some days.

A superb campsite in an idyllic, quiet spot. Great owners, friendly and helpful, excellent showers/toilet block, nice well-stocked site shop and the village pub is about 200 yards away from the entrance! :-) Be aware that there is zero phone signal and you will only pick up the free Wi-Fi in the immediate vicinity of the shop. Not a big thing for us, but maybe for some. I stayed solo camping the weekend before, then 2 nights with my wife last weekend and will not hesitate to return when I next do the south-western fells. If it was more central I would stay there practically every month :-)

We decided to climb Scafell Pike last minute & were lucky to come across Church Stile when looking for somewhere to stay. Very close to the climb. The campsite had plenty of space, toilets and showers were clean, shop for any bits and bobs and a pub at the end of the road. Staff very friendly when checking in. Despite being busy, camp was so peaceful. Would highly recommend.

On arrival I was warmly greeted and checked in easily. The site is superb from the pitches to the toilet block to the facilities and very friendly staff. I would recommend the place to anyone looking to be near the Fells and the sea to enjoy the best of both worlds. I will definitely be coming back.

Very nice campsite. It was particularly busy but not surprising as it was half term and the bank holiday. The location was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay

This was the best trip so far in our tent. The site catered to our young family so well and they had a lot of fun playing football and spending time in the park. Everyone was really friendly and the vibe was sociable and laid back. I noticed there were great walking trails straight off the site, hopefully we will get to return when the kids are a bit older to explore these.

The campsite was in a very picturesque area. It had good size pitches, and the shower block/toilets were clean and tidy. It was nice and quiet with a noise restriction after 11pm. It's pet friendly, all dogs on leads at all times, but there are places to exercises your dog. Enjoyed our stay, but would probably stay a little closer to the lakes/main roads next time, as the camping site is a little out the way and hard to find. There were 2 pubs within a couple of minutes walk that did meals, with a nice friendly atmosphere plus dog friendly.

We had a lovely stay here and wished we could have stayed for longer. The setting is just beautiful, we did a great local walk to Wastwater and a bike ride to the Bridge Inn at Stanton. The reception staff were really helpful in planning out walks with us. There are two pubs locally, unfortunately when we were there they were being used for a wedding but would be brilliant to go to normally as they're very close to the site. I'd definitely recommend this site if you want to be in a peaceful and stunning location, but close to a local pub or two.
