We had such a good night at this campsite, it is so close to Wast Water and there is a pub within walking distance. We would like to mention Jamie, who was working on the reception desk, as he was so helpful with us! He recommended a place to eat and really accommodated our stay. We were in a roof top tent, and he made sure we were on a flat pitch because we forgot our chocks, he was so lovely. The showers were so clean and very warm. The shop was well packed with things you may have forgotten. 10/10, would stay again.

We stayed for 3 nights at Church Stile and had a lovely time. The staff were very helpful and the amenities were really good. The sawmill farm shop & café nearby (owned by the same people) is also excellent.

Fantastic campsite with everything you needed for a comfortable camping experience. A short drive from some brilliant walking locations. Stanley Ghyll falls is a must visit. Some great pubs nearby and also recommend the Sawmill just 3 mins walk away that does great food and a selection of local gifts. Make sure you take a ground sheet because the pitch sites get quite muddy.
Decent campsite For Scaffel Pike hikers

Beautiful location and really well situated for Scaffel Pike hikers, only a 1.5 hour walk to the base along a beautiful lake. Two lovely pubs right next to the site and an onsite shop where you can grab bits and bobs, and barista hot drinks. The campsite itself was good. Decent facilities, pretty clean. My only criticism is the strange booking rules - we were a group of 4 people in two separate tents, only wanting to stay for two nights. Firstly, they have a 3-night minimum on bookings, which was annoying as it meant we paid for a whole extra night we couldn't use, and took up a night's booking someone else probably could have used on the desirable bank holiday weekend. Secondly, they wouldn't allow us to book together because they don't allow "large groups", but when we arrived, there were many large groups of people with enormous tents, so their problem seems to be with the amount of tents rather than the amount of people. Wasn't a huge issue as we just booked separately, pitched in different fields like we were told, then just visited each others pitches for meals and drinks, which the staff didn't seem to have an issue with. Other than those small gripes, it was a great campsite.
Site's response
Thanks for the feedback and we'd like to address the points you've raised. We only have a minimum stay limit of 3 nights on Bank Holidays, as it is the busiest weekends of any given month and the majority of people who stay with us stay for 3 nights. We don't have a minimum stay for non-electrical pitches and a 2 night minimum on electrical hook-ups at any other time of the year. We also only allow groups onsite with prior approval, which is clear on our website, all the communication we send out in relation to bookings and also on third party websites. The alternative is to follow other campsites in our region and refuse any group bookings, which we feel is unfair on respectful campers and groups. We're glad that the staff on duty allowed your group to stay and that you enjoyed your stay with us. We would recommend letting us know you are in a group prior to your next booking and avoid booking on bank holidays if you don't wish to stay for 3 nights.

Brilliant campsite for families. Clean facilities, nice hot showers. We really enjoyed it. Wasn't rowdy at night. Bonus that the pub is just a 2 min walk along the road and the food there was amazing. Excellent choice of things at the farm shop on site too. We will be back :)

This camp site is in a beautiful position. The staff were welcoming. The only small gripe would be the toilets. They are closed for 1 hour a day whilst being cleaned. By the evening the toilet roll in some of the toilets were empty. Ladies need toilet roll each time they use the loo. The bin was over flowing until I pushed the paper towels down. No hardship. The closing of the toilets even or 1 hour is no good for people with IBS and other conditions. Apart form this it is a good site and we would book again.
Site's response
Thanks for the feedback and review. When we close the Ladies and Gents toilets, we do make the family/disabled toilets available for everyone to use, so that the closing doesn't inconvenience anyone. We also check the toilets 3-4 times a day to make sure the toilet rolls are kept topped up, however we will revisit this and increase our checks to stop them ever running out of loo roll.

We had an excellent experience at this camp site. The staff were very nice and the facilities catered to our needs. We were provided with more than enough pitch space and the view was amazing. We would definitely come back again, as it has become our favourite camp site so far.

I've been to similar campsites around the country with the same amenities for slightly cheaper however I would definitely return and enjoyed the campsite and surrounding areas. It's in a beautiful part of the lake district, and a bit quieter than Windermere although close to the area. There is no internet and signal other than at the reception area, which is even better as you get total peace. Very close to two pubs which were both lovely.

This is a great little site that is especially perfect for families. We loved our 3 night stay and will be booking for next year. The site is very pretty and mostly quite sheltered. The views are spectacular. The park, football pitch and woods is great for kids. The local pub is perfect, with really nice beer and food. The staff on site were helpful and cheerful. This is as our first real camping trip as a family and what a brilliant start.
