This was my first time booking a campsite and was glad to find it a simple and easy task. The campsite owners were lovely to talk to, making our experience that great deal better. Their services were great, the location was brilliant, and the facilities were good! Overall brilliant experience, will come again!

If you want a non-overcrowded place to camp this is the perfect spot. Whether it be a romantic getaway, family holiday or with a group this place caters for all. Cleanest toilets I have ever used. We were looked after from start to finish whilst also having our privacy respected. To top it off the river was amazing to have a few swims in too. Loved this place

Our favourite place to stay. The location, hosts, showers and toilets are great. Small and cosy site. Recommend it for everyone who wants to experience true camping.

The location is fantastic with stunning views and access to the river and the hosts were very attentive. I was disappointed that there was only one shower for the number of pitches and there was no mention beforehand that the showers required a pound coin for four minutes of hot water. There was also no hot water for washing up and rubbish had to be taken with you on leaving the site. The portaloos however were clean and well kept.

Both Rich and Yvonne are wonderful hosts and run an excellent campsite, and made us feel very welcome even upgrading us into their new railway carriage which was an amazing experience. While it was brand new and needed some minor bits adding to it (fridge, kettle) we wouldn't have expected this if we were camping and they are just nice touches to add to what is a fantastic place which was very comfy. The breakfasts were delicious, and we loved every minute of the stay which has some incredible views across the Wye river. The campsite has different areas for couples, families and single campers and Rich and Yvonne are friendly, approachable and chatty and able to respond to all needs. Will be going back and would recommend.

Great little find for a weekend of camping. Hosts were fantastic and helpful. Great location if you're looking to visit Hay on Wye. Even had a dip in the river, which was lovely. Facilities are basic, but very clean and enough for a few days. It was a nice touch to have the added campfire. Would definitely go back.

Very nice site right on the water. Friendly owners helpful with delivering wood to your campsite. However, there is zero privacy. Most campsites in UK are like this so this is not unique to this site but there could have a tree or two between the sites. Could hear everything from our neighbours on each side.

Good campsite, would recommend to others. Would be better with a few more facilities on site but overall, we had a good weekend.

Called Yvonne to try and make a last minute booking for a mountaineering trip to the Beacon. Despite the site already being packed for a number of festivals in the area that weekend, she was extremely dedicated & accommodating, and managed to squeeze us in for the whole weekend! Very friendly and welcoming, and checked in at multiple points to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy! Travel to North Brecon's by road is around 40 - 60 minutes, With the Pen Y Fan horseshoe start-point only 45 minutes away - a perfect distance to charge your phones and battery packs in the car, and recover on the return trip! Would recommend, and will likely be back myself in the not-to-far future for more adventures.

Booked here last minute, it’s in a lovely quiet location by the river, with some lovely walks. Yvonne and Richard are genuinely lovely people and very accommodating! I would love to stay here again on our next road trip!

Nice and peaceful camping spot away from all distractions. Just what you need to relax. The hosts, as always, were great and we had a good laugh chatting to them. This is the third time we've camped here and would highly recommend this spot. Looking forward to going again next year.

If you want a place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of a busy life, then this is the place to go. It is located right on the River Wye and has a place you can launch your sup, canoe, whatever, into the river. Lots of wildlife, we saw various birds, fish, squirrel, phesant and even an otter. Has basic facilities- portaloo and outdoor sink for washing up. Gentleman running the site was very nice. Met us on arrival, had a nice friendly chat and showed us to our pitch. He came to see us once a day to see if everything was ok and enjoyed staying for a bit of a natter. 100% I would reccomend this site.

Cannot fault this site one bit! The campsite was the perfect size, it wasn't overcrowded but there was some life there which made it feel more homely. The toilets and showers were extremely clean and well stocked with necessities such as toilet roll, air freshener, body wash, etc. There was a washing up station and somewhere to hang your wet clothes which was a massive help! There was also clean, fresh drinking water. There are also fire kits available to purchase from the managers which makes life so much easier as you don't have to take it all with you. Site is located on a lake which is great fun to swim in or do some water activities and only takes about 30 seconds to walk to. The whole campsite was very clean and a perfect combination of proper wild camping, whilst also having access to a warm shower and nice toilets. To top it off, the site managers were very friendly, extremely helpful and made me feel like nothing was too much trouble. The site is only 12 minute drive from Hay on Wye so easy access to a shop if needed. I would recommend this campsite to anyone and will definitely be visiting again!

We had an excellent 3 night stay, the owners were lovely and super helpful. The campsite was really well maintained, the location was excellent- just a 10 min drive from Hay on Wye where there is all the shopping you will need. The sky on a night time was worth the visit alone- I have never seen the sky so clear and so many stars to see, it was simply amazing. Would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone!

A fabulous campsite down a country lane in a beautiful location. We stayed in our VW campervan down by the river with fabulous views, swam in the river and enjoyed the camp fire that came with the spot. The owner was very helpful and friendly. A lovely quiet spot, highly recommend, we'd come again. Great if you'd want to kayak down the river and camp en route. Toilets were a bit whiffy but hey ho.

A truly beautiful spot, literally located on the banks of the Wye. We really felt that we’d hit the jackpot when we were shown to our pitch with a very warm welcome. Peace, quiet, on a working farm (which adds to the charm) and the ability within a matter of feet to drop your canoe or kayak onto the river Wye. We loved it! No grandiose facilities here but that’s not what we were after. An added bonus was the individual pitch fire pit and being able to purchase a bag of logs/kindling etc. Quite magical by day and night. We will return!

We had a really beautiful stay at Locksters Pool. The riverside location is amazing and being able to wake up and go for a wild swim is unparalleled. It was easy to find and the hosts were on hand at reception when we arrived. There are a modest number of pitches, so it didn't feel too crowded and we were offered a choice of pitch upon arrival. The toilets were very clean, showers were available but we didn't try them out, big utility sink outside for washing up. A great fire pit and a hearty amount of chopped wood and a fire-starting kit were available for a tenner. I was worried before booking that it wouldn't be as secluded or picturesque as it looked online but it was, and one of the most scenic campsites I've stayed at. We went for dinner at the Boat Inn nearby which was also good for decent pub food with a beautiful view. Hay-on-Wye and Brecon Beacons were also within driving distance and that formed our days out. There was a Co-Op 10 minutes away for any supplies. The campsite was peaceful and respectful at night. I would really recommend this magical spot to anyone considering it.

Hosts were fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. Location was perfect and not far from local amenities if required. Really peaceful place with stunning scenery. It was great waking up and heading straight out onto the river. Great value for money and had everything we needed. Would 100% recommend and return.

This is my third time at Locksters. Yvonne and Richard are extremely welcoming with lots of brilliant country humour. It's incredibly beautiful and peaceful staying at Locksters. I go every year if I can. It's great value for money & the town is lovely to go and visit. I've also done canoeing and spent a good day walking around the town. I've been to Locksters as a group with friends and I've been with my girlfriend as a romantic break. Yvonne and Richard are both so accommodating and helpful with getting you set up in the right spot. The river is perfect for a fresh morning swim. I've been to many festivals and I've seen the state of many portaloo's in my time and I can safely say that the loos at Locksters are always immaculate and smell fresh. Hopefully see you again next year!
