About Heathfield Escapes

The site boasts 24 acres of land, including a pony paddock, bluebell woodland and the 12 acre valley. Guests are welcome to roam the land too! Within the 12 acre valley, you'll find five level, mowed pitches for tents where you can feel the freedom of wild camping. A wheelbarrow can be provided for guests to transport their camping gear. Each pitch is unique in location, has a picnic table and fire pit. You will never be pitched next to another camper as all of the pitches are many meters apart. There is a long drop toilet in each of the valley fields and a solar shower in one. Separate from the valley, the site offers a campervan pitch to suit a small campervan with electric hook up and a camping paddock for family groups up to 6 which can take tents, caravans and campervans. All pitches come with picnic tables and fire pits. Or perhaps treat yourself to a stay in the fully furnished yurt. Inside, you can enjoy use of a comfy double bed, double futon sofa bed, wood burning stove as well as a kitchen and dining area. Wander outside, and you can relax in your own private garden with decking, a fire pit and a picnic table. The orchard garden by the farmhouse has a bathroom with two flushing toilets and a power shower. Outside is a gas stove and kettle alongside a sink for washing up. There are clotheslines for drying off wetsuits and clothes and a volleyball/badminton net with bats etc provided.

Open from 1 April to 31 October

A note from the site themselves...

We love our home and since roaming in New Zealand discovered the joy of sharing what we have.

What we want you to enjoy is skies free from light pollution often with views of the Milky Way, only the soundtrack of nature to listen to, the chance to watch badgers, glimpse foxes and deer, admire the tenacity of rabbits, watch and listen to the many birds who love to roost, hunt, and make the most of our organic pastures.

Rare butterflies, wild flowers, old trees make the valley such a special place. It is very hard to see another building from the pitches and we run a drop-off and return lift to the pitches to enable you leave to your car back at the farmhouse and let nature engulf you.

We are very happy to communicate with guests, answer questions, provide bespoke recommendations, help find solutions to any difficulties etc but will never invade your space.

Many of our guests choose to return because as they say "this is like no other campsite!"
