Things to do in Brixham
Brixham Harbour is one of the town's top attractions and is a lovely place for visitors of all ages to explore. There are lots of great restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as the Golden Hind, a full-sized replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship, which he circumnavigated the world in.
From the harbour, you can also catch a ferry to Torbay or perhaps take a day trip fishing or wildlife spotting. Those feeling extra adventurous might like to try a coasteering or kayaking trip with Reach Outdoors who are located just a couple of miles down the coast in Paignton.
Breakwater Beach, in between the harbour and Berry Head, has a Blue Flag award and is a popular place for scuba diving as well as a great spot to relax and enjoy the sea views. The nearby Shoalstone Pool is a sea-water swimming pool and a great place to cool off during the summer heat.
If you feel like taking a walk, then Berry Head National Nature Reserve is just a few miles down the coast. An amazing cliff walk allows the kids to spot the local wildlife including rare insects and birds, while you enjoy the views.
Kents Cavern on the opposite site of the bay at Torquay is also fascinating, with guided cave walks to amuse all ages.
Back in town, the Brixham Heritage Museum is packed full of local history, while Brixham Battery Museum is also a great way to spend an afternoon exploring well preserved buildings from the war. The hilltop location means you will get some brilliant sea views too.
Cayman Golf, just a short distance back up the A3022, offers a family friendly twist on pitch 'n' putt, spread across nine acres of greenery. Or if it’s a rainy day then you can rely on Whizz Kids indoor soft play area to keep the little ones entertained.
Nearby, Torquay and Paignton are both within easy reach, as are Dartmouth and the National Trust property of Coleton Fishacre.
