This campsite is in a beautiful location and is excellent value. It's basic -1 shower and 3 compost toilets, but they are fine and honestly for the money, it's a bargain and would definitely recommend it. I would say it would probably be helpful to have some more obviously placed instructions for the compost toilet, as some people clearly didn't know how to use properly, which meant that they were a bit grim sometimes (won't go into details). I stayed with my husband and seven year old son. I would probably say that its probably not the best for very young kids given the limited facilities but fine for 6+ year olds.
Lovely place and exactly as described

A lovely campsite with facilities exactly as described. Peaceful, welcoming, no rubbish. The River Eden runs right past the campsite. Firepits available, and you can sit and listen to the sound of oystercatchers and wood pigeons all day if you like!

What a delightful campsite right on the River Eden. Location was quiet, away from hustle and bustle, which was just what we wanted. The camping field was relatively small, and I think tents/vans had to pitch quite close to each other, that's the only thing that could have been improved, but it wouldn't stop us coming back. There are 3 perfectly usable composting toilets and 1 hot water shower which you can turn the temperature down by adjusting the boiler settings outside the cubicle (was a bit scalding to begin with!).

Lovely tranquil setting. Down a long secluded country road/farm track set on the banks of the river & surrounded by peaceful countryside, with a beautiful stately home on the hill overlooking.

Absolutely perfect little place for a few nights! The yurt was exactly as described and was beautiful & clean inside. Plenty of plugs to charge phones etc and little lamps for light. The toilet and shower are just across the field and perfectly clean and easy to use. The kitchenette is lovely and had everything we needed! (tea & coffee were a nice touch too). The location was lovely, it's right next to a little river and a good enough distance from neighbours staying in other facilities. Just slightly out of the way of the lakes (30-60 min drive), but that didn't bother us as the price was very reasonable! The hot tub was lovely, but would recommend heating it for a good few hours before use as it wasn't quite warm enough when we used it. There are also plenty of seats to sit on the decking outside too. Can get cold at night so recommend bringing layers. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Overall 10/10 experience.
What a magical place!

Beautifully kept. Simple and perfectly functional with compost toilets, a fabulous hot shower with spacious changing area. A brilliant wild swimming spot with easy access on the smooth sandstone river bed. Wonderful walks. Lovely welcoming and friendly owner. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

The site is pleasant and quiet. the ground was well looked after and flat, ideal for camping and the fire pit was a nice addition to facilities. We felt the composting toilets were a little challenging for us however, also something that we had over looked when booking this trip. It is probably fair to say that would put us off from booking another visit.
Beautiful site, well worth the basic facilities

This place is beautiful, remote and offers wild swimming on site. Downside is no electricity and very basic loos but I'd still highly recommend this site. Fire pits and swimming in the river and very spacious paddock for tents. Friendly helpful site owners too.

We loved our stay and hope to return. The facilities are basic but adequate. The setting on the banks of the river is lovely and peaceful with no traffic noise. Firepits available to use. Walking distance to a really nice pub and a good base for the lakes.

My daughter and I camped here for two nights, recommended by a friend. The site is clean with ample room to set up your tent and also have some space outside. We camped right next to the river where we then spent the day swimming, paddle boarding and enjoying the sunshine. We didn't need to leave the site once. Absolutely stunning. We will definitely be back! One word of warning - If you haven't been before, the composting loos take a little bit of getting used to, and my daughter hated them. It's as wild camping as it needs to be and the showers were unexpectedly hot and lovely and for the price, I don't think you could expect more. In fact, for the price, I think you could easily expect a lot less!

Me and my friends went for a two night stay here. The location is very secluded and beautiful, if you go back out the way you come and turn left there is a pub about a 20 min walk from the site if you wish to be at the pub! Overall clean and nice! Toliets got cleaned everyday!

Lovely remote location if you just want to get away from it all. The nearest shop and pub is around 2 miles away.

Budget friendly getaway and it's a beautiful small location. Nice and cosy not far from the Lake District. The river that runs alongside is beautiful and went for a dip and on my Sandip paddle board. Each pitch had a section to make a small fire on. Beautiful get away from the world.

Beautiful location, right next to the River Eden. Excellent swimming and beautiful walks. Facilities are basic but really good. The campsite is nice and quiet. We were just unfortunate and had really noisy neighbours. It would be good if someone came and checked in the evenings.
Definitely recommend this site

Although our pitch was perfect overlooking the river, although I was a bit disappointed in how close other tents chose to pitch to us, which invaded our privacy. I feel there were too many tents pitched in one field, felt really crowded. That been said, I would still go back in a heartbeat - just maybe ask others to respect our space a bit more! The toilets were bearable given they were compost, for the price it was worth it. The shower was ok, however the structure of the hut could be better - it felt a bit exposed with gaps in but a towel covers those. Lovely walks along the river, one mile walk into the nearest village with a great pub and small shop. All in all, I would definitely recommend it!

Stayed here for 4 nights. Cosy and fun for myself, my other half and our two dogs. Very private and peaceful. Plenty to do in surrounding areas. 20 mins from Carlisle etc. 25 minute walk from 2 outstanding pubs. The site was well maintained and peaceful. The site owners are very friendly and flexible.
