About Into the Sticks

This is an ethical and environmentally-friendly site run by experienced and thoughtful campers. This quiet, sheltered space is perfect for a technology detox, with just the sights and sounds of nature. Enjoy a meadow bordered by the river, with 14 acres of thickets, woods, streams and fens to explore on a network of nature trails. The site is also home to pigs, ponies, and hens, so guests are welcome to join the morning feed and help collect the eggs. Each of the large seven tent pitches are complete with a picnic table and benches, a campfire pit, and an eco compost loo in a tent. They have a good degree of privacy whilst retaining the campsite atmosphere. Kids can make friends with other campers and play together but stay within sight. There is a more secluded pitch for those seeking more privacy, and hammocks or wild camping around the nature reserve are allowed. The Tiny Home offers a wistful and secluded getaway for two adults, so special that the previous owners themselves lived in it for three years. It's furnished and includes a toasty woodburner. When you're not exploring the reserve, head to the converted farm barn with sofas and games. The site also hosts a variety of exciting guided workshops, including birdbox making and much more! As the name suggests, Into the Sticks has a fabulous remote feeling but is still within a mile of the local village, with a full range of services and facilities, including a bus route. The coastal attractions of Pembrokeshire and the Preseli Mountains are just a short drive away too. The campsite owners are always on hand to offer advice and recommendations and help out if needed to enhance your experience. Campfires are allowed - in fact, encouraged here! Greener Camping Club membership fee is required to comply with countryside planning policy. The membership gives access to the greenest campsites in the UK and includes participation in the club's carbon offsetting scheme, whereby one tree per member is planted each year.

The Tiny Home is available on 1st May to 1st November, with camping available from 20th July to 31st August.

A note from the site themselves...

Kev and I really love where we live. We both have really enjoyed making this fantastic campsite even better by our little touches and improvements over these few years we have been here. Surrounding us is nature and our animals.....where else would we want to be? We look forward to sharing all this with you.

Medium Tent - Nature Reserve Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2023

A truly great experience staying here. Peaceful and environmentally friendly. A nature trail that both adults and children will enjoy. The location is at the end of a narrow road- truly off the beaten tracks. Great that no cars can be parked near the pitches! Owners will help you move your stuff from your vehicle to the pitch (quad bike & trailer) and wheelbarrows are available. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

We would give more stars if we could. Don't be put off by the slightly higher price comparted to other campsites- there is so much that makes this place genuinely special. Huge pitches with no close neighbours, absolutely idyllic natural setting, free firewood every night, pizza/ jacket potato nights each week, and lots of activities that the kids can get involved with if they want. The camping barn has lots of stuff for those wet days.Jo & Kev make this place- they're super relaxed, nothing is too much bother and their passion for the site and the nature within it, is infectious. My daughter fed the animals (pigs, ponies, chickens) everyday with Jo (who is amazingly patient :-) ) and was the highlight of her stay. Not once did the kids tell me they were bored- result! And to top it all off, the beaches and surrounding area is stunning. Highly recommended, we will be back for sure.

FAQ

Check in for both camping and Tiny Home is between 2pm and 6pm. Check out is by 11am on your departure day

Yes, they are! In fact, campfires are encouraged, and there are designated campfire places around the site. A daily crate of firewood is included in the pitch price. Any more is a small fee per crate.

Sorry, the site doesn't accommodate dogs as it's such a sensitive wildlife reserve.

Weekly wood fired pizza nights and communal campfires with marshmallow toasting and hot jacket potatoes are on hand to keep your belly nice and full, so why not relax and socialise?

Self guided and guided activities are available on site in this eco paradise, including craft, nature art, wildlife walks, birdbox making and much more.

How about turning explorer with the footpaths and bridleways leading straight from the site into neighbouring woodland, forest and meadows.

Just six miles away the incredible coastline starts, perfectly suited for walking, swimming, beaches, kayaking, surfing etc. Nearby attractions include castles, The Bug Farm, St David's city and meeting the local animal residents on wildlife boat trips.

Don't miss the weekly events at nearby Trehale Harm - live music, pig racing, stand up comedy with buffet food and fully licenced bar to get the fun going.
