Things to do in Leamington Spa
It's hard to forget the past in this bustling spa town, where you'll mosey daily past superb examples of Georgian and Edwardian architecture, plenty of local shops and a vibrant arts and cultural scene.
The landscaped Jephson Gardens are a nice place for a picnic with rare trees and a glasshouse, or you might prefer Victoria Park's pleasant green space.
If you enjoy arts head to the Royal Pump Rooms Art Gallery and Museum, or you can see a show at the Royal Spa Centre. The Althrope Art Studios and Gallery has great local exhibitions and often music events are held here too.
You can buy a town guide and simply stroll through the streets admiring the architecture and learning about the town's history. The Elephant Walk is worth trumpeting about, where you can learn about the history and talents of the famed elephant trainer, Sam Lockhart who had an elephant wash here.
If you really want to stretch your legs, you'd best head for the Ufton Fields Nature Reserve. And if you walk beside the river enough, you'll want to float away on it - you can hire a boat from the boat centre on the Learm's banks or even try your hand at canoeing.
Head to nearby Coventry for an excellent day trip, where you can visit its stunning cathedral and the bustling city of Birmingham is also a short drive away.
