Things to do in Tamworth
Start planning your daytrips to some of Tamworth’s highlights including the stunning medieval castle towering over the town. Take the little ones for a runaround in the adventure play area before a round on the crazy golf course.
Inside roam the halls, try on some armour, and explore the servant’s chamber or the armoury and dungeon. From family workshops to the beautiful surrounding grounds, Tamworth Castle practically ticks all the boxes for a fun day out.
Afterwards, why not spend the afternoon at Wigginton Park? Pack a picnic and sit on the lush greenery before trying out the ‘Tree Trail’ with the kids.
Alternatively, spend the day at Drayton Manor Theme Park. Meet the animals at the zoo, hop on board Toby’s Tram Express in Thomas the Tank Engine Land, or spot the prehistoric exhibits along the Dino Trail.
If the sun isn’t shining, take to the slopes at SnowDome’s indoor skiing centre. Take a lesson in snowboarding or grab your skates and head to the ice rink. Little ones can also get involved with tobogganing and sledging.
You could also try bouncing around at Jump Xtreme. From wall to wall trampolines to a dodgeball court, youngsters are sure to burn off some energy. The coffee shop is also a good option for catching your breath with a selection of hot drinks and cakes.
In the evening, get competitive at Namco Funscape. Aim for a strike to top the leaderboard at one of the bowling lanes and keep an eye on the little ones whilst they runaround in the ‘Pac-Man Play’ area. When you’ve finished, head to Clyde’s Bar and Grill for a selection of food including pizza and burgers.
Nature lovers should head to Planters Garden Centre. Admire the many plants on display or try something different and ‘walk the plank’ at the centre’s Sky Trail. You’ll also find loads of tropical creatures at the aquatics centre as well as birds, rabbits, hamsters and more at Pooch Parlour.
Continue meeting the animals on a visit to Broomey Croft Children’s Farm. Spend the day with llamas, pigs, sheep and others before enjoying a bite and a hot cuppa at the Granary Tea Room.
When you’ve finished, explore the farm’s surrounding scenery at Kingsbury Water Park. Spot the wildlife on a scenic walk through the park or rent a pedal boat and float on one of the 15 lakes on offer. Make time for a ride with the kids on the miniature railway too!
A little closer to the town, RSPB Middleton Lakes has plenty of woodland walks and wildlife to see as well as picturesque scenery to enjoy on a lakeside picnic.
After exploring Tamworth’s surrounding attractions, head to Birmingham’s bustling city centre and try a sample at Cadbury World or tuck into a picnic at the Zoological Gardens in Dudley.
