To do a bit of sightseeing at your own pace, take the Lancaster Treasure Hunt Trail. The whole family can have a go at solving all the clues that take you around the city. A fun way of exploring, the trail will take you through the bustling streets and around the market square.
After you’ve found the last clue on the trail, head to Williamson Park. Stroll to the Butterfly House before seeing even more critters at the mini zoo. Kids will love seeing the meerkats while braver members of the family can explore the minibeast cave to see dart frogs, giant snails and more.
When you’ve finished admiring the wildlife, enjoy a picnic overlooking Lancaster Canal. Soak up the pretty scenery before taking a cruise to the Lune Aqueduct for pretty views of the River Lune.
For more fun outdoors, head to Ryelands Park. Enjoy a kickabout or take the youngsters to the playground for a runaround on the climbing frames.
Or treat the little ones with a visit to Giggles Play and Adventure. This indoor soft play area lets youngsters run wild in a ball pit, crawl through a tunnel and ride down a slide! While the kids are releasing their energy, build up yours with a coffee near the play area.
For budding historians, visit the Lancaster Maritime Museum. Kids can admire a traditional horse drawn carriage as well as soak up the rich maritime history of the city.
Continue your history tour at the Lancaster City Museum. Admire Roman artefacts on a tour that has exhibits taking you through to the present day.
Or indulge in a tipple or two on a tour of Lancaster Brewery. See how real ale is made before trying out the samples yourself.
