About Dreamy Hollow Woodland Campsite and WW1 Trenches

Sit back and relax amongst nature at this family and dog friendly campsite immersed in nature, surrounded by woodlands. Just 15 minutes from sandy beaches, this is an ideal spot to enjoy both the countryside and coastline. All of the pitches will provide you with an authentic camping experience, set on either grass or in the woodlands, each sleeping between two and eight people. The eastern half of the site is for family camping and the western half of the site is adult only. There are then another four group pitches, each one sleeping either 10 or 15. None of the pitches come with electric, and all have their own fire baskets, perfect for evenings of toasting marshmallows. The north end of the Hollow has a wood-fired pizza oven too! Alternatively, you can opt for Sgt Taylor's Bunker which sleeps up to four adults in bunks for a unique war-time experience. Basic mattresses are provided, but guests will need to bring their own linen. Also inside you'll have your own table and chairs, small wood-burning fire and a flat top with a copper kettle. Dogs are welcome onsite too, just please keep them on the lead and always clean up after them. Campfires are allowed as long as they are in raised fire pits. All cars (except camper van pitches) will need to park up in the car park, with barrows and a buggy to help you get your stuff to your pitch.

A note from the site themselves...

Dreamy Hollow is a very unique and special piece of quiet woodland. Listed as a site of National Importance by Historic England it has a sense of peace that you have to experience to appreciate. We love to offer campers holidays in the true meaning of the word, time to restore that feeling of wholeness by just being in nature.

Each pitch, like our campers, is unique, from the large open pitches ideal for family groups to quiet secluded areas for couples or people on solo retreats or small hammock camping pitches.

We just love it when campers "get Dreamy Hollow" and become regulars. Sometimes the site just buzzes with campers making friends around campfires or sharing food. It's a joy to run and spend time there. If this is your sort of thing you will be made very welcome.

Just remember, for first visits please arrive in time to receive your welcome tour as looking for your pitch in 7.5 acre of woodland isn't a fun way to start your holiday.

Small Tent - Small Woodland Tent Pitches (Family Friendly)Aug 2024

Couldn't recommend Dreamy Hollow highly enough for anyone who enjoys self-sustained wild camping but with the luxury of amenities! A peaceful dog-friendly environment with a historic atmosphere, clean toilets, showers, fire pits, firewood on demand and washing up amenities which were all respected and well taken care of by your friendly warden Harry. What more could you ask for!? Don't hesitate to book.

Small Tent - Small Woodland Tent Pitches (Family Friendly)Jul 2024

I wanted a little getaway in a quiet spot in a beautiful location and this ticked all the boxes. The pitches all feel separate and enclosed, so you can feel a million miles from other people. The team running the place are friendly and on hand should you need anything. The toilets and showers are easily accessible and more than enough for a back to basics trip away. The surrounding country side and villages are beautiful, making a nice drive to and from the site. All in all I highly recommend, and I will almost certainly be back for another off-grid weekend soon.

Site's response
