Well-next-the-Sea is a picturesque coastal town famous for its stunning beach. It's a great location to go camping, with plenty to see and do including several beaches, a harbour, many shops and cafes. Other activities might include taking a hire boat from Wells for a bit of deep sea fishing, or cycling.

Things to do in Wells-next-the-Sea

Just a mile from the sea on the coast of North Norfolk, lies the port and town of Wells-next-the-Sea. There is something to appeal to young and old alike here, with beautiful coastal landscapes and fun family attractions.

Its popularity has stood the test of time, too, since the watery associations in Wells' name date back to mentions of its clear springs in the Domesday Book.

One of the must-see attractions for visitors today is Wells Beach with its soft sand and colourful beach huts. During low tide the expanse of sand is a great place to explore and during high tide the beach becomes a harbour, welcoming a swarm of cheery boats.

A fun boat trip courtesy of Wells Harbour Tours is a great way to explore the beach and marshes nearby. Don't miss the ancient charm of the granary, dating back over a century, which looms grandly over Wells' Harbour.

Why not take a trip on the wonderful Wells & Walsingham Light Railway which travels through beautiful countryside and offers the best views around.

Visitors are in the perfect spot for coastal birdwatching. With a little luck you can also spot three varieties of tern, as well as oyster catchers, turnstones, curlew and other great seaside feathered friends. See if you can spot more incredible wildlife with energising country walks or strolls along the pine bordered beach.

Kids and adults alike will have a fantastic day out with Alpaca Trekking. Enjoy an unforgettable walk through pretty coastal landscapes while leading a gentle and adorable alpaca.

Wells Carnival Week is the perfect time to visit, featuring events like a fiercely competitive sandcastle building contest and teddy bear picnic and really bringing home the summer party atmosphere.

Fancy an entertaining live performance? Then don't miss a trip to the Granary Theatre which hosts a variety of performances, from plays to music events.

In addition to exploring the town there are several wonderful attractions to visit nearby including the stunning Holkham National Nature Reserve and beautiful Holkham Hall. The Rescue Wooden Boats Visitor Centre in Stiffkey is well worth visiting too, while the Norfolk Coast AONB is a must-see for all nature lovers.
