A set of grass and hardstanding pitches with electric make the perfect base. A cosy glamping shepherd's hut with riverside views, Jemima Puddleduck is a tempting retreat for couples. It includes self contained facilities and the luxury of a private terrace with table and chairs, perfect for taking in the view.

Newton Abbot Racecourse is just a few miles away from this site, so it's an ideal place for watching a race with friends.

The famous Prickly Ball Farm Hedgehog Hospital is 5 miles away, which is not just a place to see cute critters nursed back to health but also a farm full of friendly animals that you can meet.

Close by is the National Trust's Bradley, a must for history buffs. Dating back to the 1400s it includes a beautifully preserved manor house and luscious gardens.

Take the car for a 20 minute drive and you're in Dartmoor, the heart of outdoor country.
