Everything excellent apart from our pitch, which was seemed to be the only one on a less than comfortable incline on campsite 3 and affected our sleep. Don't get there last. Beautiful gardens and a bar, clean facilities and parking only a short walk.
Stunning location

First time staying here and what an absolute gem this campsite is, couldn't fault anything from when we arrived, to when we left. Staff were great and very helpful and the facilities were excellent. We are definitely booking another stay as a family.

A mate and I had a enjoyable experience despite the poor weather,. The tea room serve good coffee and the sausage roll was one of the best. We had a good time in the bar with some interesting company, good ale and good conversation. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The only down side of the stay was that the ground where we were camping was on a slight slope and a little uneven. Due to this, the heavy rain started making it's way into the tent and the ground made it a challenge to be comfortable. However, I would go back again.

Perfectly central to get around the lakes. The grounds of Rydal Hall are enough to keep you occupied for a weekend and it's a great place to start off walks to the Rydal Caves or Buterstones Jump. Staff were so helpful and the facilities were always clean and in working order. Good mix of budget tents, yurts, wood cabins and holiday cottages too. Lots of dog owners there too, which was nice to see. End of September stay and the weather was still good, will definitely be going back, too much more we need to see and do!

Lovely campsite, very clean and could not ask for a better location. Can walk into Grasmere and Ambleside easily. Only a few little things could improve the stay. Depending on what area you're in the facilities can be a bit of a walk, especially in the middle of the night. A fire pit was not provided at reception as mentioned in the paperwork, but as advised by reception just used the communal one instead. Also fine with taking home non-recyclable rubbish, but would be good to have a dog litter bin on site.

A peaceful location with walking distance to Ambleside. Great location and well maintained. Facilities very clean and modern. No parking by the pitches, which is brilliant, but be prepared for a kit transfer workout :) Grounds and surrounding walk also lovely. Highly recommended.

Lovely site, very peaceful and in a fantastic location! Pitches are uphill and away from cars, but we found this made the site more quiet than others. Great facilities and a fabulous estate!
Brilliant site for access to both Grasmere and Ambleside

We had a lovely stay, despite poor weather (obviously not their fault). Location is hilly with flat areas. The warden said that a quad bike and staff were available to help get our stuff up the hill, but us and several others were not aware of this until after we'd dragged our equipment uphill. This needs to be mentioned by the receptionists. They could enforce the quiet time (10:30 onwards) better, as there was a large male group nearby who were loud until midnight-ish.Toilets and showers very well cleaned, 3 x times a day.
Beautiful, quiet and friendly

Stayed 2 nights on the upper field with stunning views of Loughrigg and Rydal Fell. The pitch was flat and ablutions well maintained. Drinking water is available to top up, which comes directly from the Fells (so no additives etc). Plenty of tent pitches scattered around and many with picnic tables for families. The walking routes are amazing. I recommend Loughrigg terrace, which runs across the road from the campsite (well marked) around Rydal water across Loughrigg down into Grasmere, then follow the route to the pub outside the camp. Blonde ale is a must. Staff are very friendly and had no issues at all. This site is one of the best for walking/sight seeing etc, and if you don't fancy the Fells, there are plenty of woodland walks.
Don't change

Keep it as it is, low key with only a few tents, as the place it's in is very special.

We stayed at Rydal Campsite for 3 nights camping. The facilities were sparkling clean with lovely warm showers (perfect for post hike). The staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Would highly recommend to everyone. The site is also about a 2 hour drive from Scafell Pike.
A gem amongst the Fells

Rydal Hall is a beautiful, tranquil and relaxing site located far enough out from the tourist honeypots, but close enough to be able to visit if that's you thing. The site and grounds are beautifully clean, spacious pitches with plenty of areas to disappear into the woods on tranquil walks discovering the history surrounding the Hall. All perfectly managed by happy helpful staff. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy scenery or set off into the Fells from on the many accessible footpaths around. Thank you for the time to refresh and recharge.
