A note from the site themselves...

We look forward to welcoming you to our campsite by the sea. Carreg y Gwynt Campsite is surrounded by wildlife and farm animals. It has some stunning views of welsh countryside and of Cardigan Bay.

We are very proud of our camping field. During the winter our sheep graze and in early spring it becomes a maternity ward during lambing season. Once the days lengthen, and the Starlings fly back to Siberia, our dairy cows flex their hooves and gallop the track from the yard to enjoy their first lush blades of grass at the Carreg y Gwynt Spring buffet!

They then munch, lounge and play all spring until on the first day of June, the "buffet" closes for a little while. The field then has a rest.

In early summer sun, green vegetation grows tall and thick. After this period of calm restfulness, it is harvest time at Carreg y Gwynt. Cut grass is sun dried in the sea breeze and only when the air is sweet, it is harvested to the barns.

A welcome store of summer scented sustenance for the cows during those bleak and bare winter months. After harvesting, the campsite opens it's gates to friends and visitors looking for a few simple days of camping and exploring this beautiful area.

Walking, cycling, relaxing, swimming and sunbathing on Cardigan Bays' cute little beaches are often the attraction to Carreg y Gwynt.

Later, as the hedgerows bronze and all our visitors farewell, the cows return to Carreg y Gwynt. For one last spell they see out their green adventures in the long, warm days. The seasons change. The cooling westerly wind turns a shivering Atlantic howl. The cows huddle to the cosy barns and dream of their next adventure to Carreg y Gwynt....

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2024

On the 6th, we were chasing the sun! A lot of the country was due rain but we were desperate to have a back to basic camp out with the kids. We often leave last minute as we have a self converted van! We found an area where the sun was meant to shine (for most of our stay!) and after a quick hunt on Google, we stumbled across this campsite. We were not disappointed! As we pulled into the field, we caught glimpse of the toilet and taps which were perfectly clean and tidy. We drove up the slight hill and were in awe of the views, seeing the coastline just to the right, then to the left was like looking across the edge of the world, miles and miles of sea waves! We found our perfect spot, with the windmill just in view where we could hear the white noise hum. We are used to the sounds of busy city life,. so hearing the cows, the birds, the sea and the humming is so therapeutic for us. We set up camp and got everything settled, we did call as we arrived to notify the owners we had arrived and were setting up! We were lucky enough that there was some wind, so the kids got their kite up, we also have a drone so was whizzing that around too. We popped the dinner on and as we started cooking the owner popped round, he was a lovely man, Carwyn, we had some great conversations with him ranging from work, ways of life and politics! He then filled us in on some local places to visit which we would never have found without him! They do allow dogs on site but there are cows close by so you must keep them on leads, we didn't have our dog with us for this stay. We have definitely added this pop up site to our list of great sites! Will be sure to check back in when we are in the area and hopefully get to explore this part of Wales even more! Thank you to a lovely family for a wonderful stay! 🎉🪁

We especially loved Nel the dog who wanted to come away with us! We were especially grateful that we could stay as it was a very last minute booking. Thank you very much Overall great location and easy to find.

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2022

Peaceful spot, with plenty of room to park up and a beautiful beach nearby. The walk to the beach is approximately 10 minutes down a cliff side and hill climb back. Would suggest maybe a play area for children.
