Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

Lovely place to stay great facilities within easy walking to Woodbridge along river path. Sutton Hoo NT next door never disappoints. Downside is the traffic noise during the day but quiet at night and never bothered us. We were on the chicken shed side, not the road side.

Lovely, will definitely be back

We got home today from our first outing in my classic caravan. It was the perfect site for a trial run. Each pitch has lots of room with a little hedge in between. We were camped next to some lovely trees which our dogs really enjoyed. The site is nice and flat so easy to park up. Nice clean facilities, couldn't fault them. Helen came to say hello which was welcoming. I liked having a drinking water tap on each pitch, it meant I didn't need to set up the water feed for the caravan either. It's a good location, nice and central to lots of places to visit. Looking forward to coming back.

Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

With the price of many campsites, even those belonging to clubs, going through the roof, it was great to find a private site with basic but perfectly adequate facilities, with serviced pitches at a good deal less than the club ones. Plenty of room with pitches separated by small hedges and 10 minutes walk from the entrance to Sutton Hoo. Absolutely ideal for our needs. Very friendly and attentive owner creating a relaxed atmosphere. Grass pitches on sandy soil so beware very wet weather, I would imagine.

Really lovely campsite, kids had a great time making friends and perfect location for Sutton Hoo, Orford Ness, Woodbridge. Appreciated the fridge and freezer for non-electric pitches. Really good Chinese takeaway from Castle Kitchen nearby.

Great value and set up

This site is great value for money. The toilets and communal areas are well-kept and cleaned. The communal fridge was helpful, and it was nice that the owner introduced herself.

Lovely site with fridges and great showers. We saw Red Rose Chains theatre production in Sutton Hoo on one evening and it’s two minutes from there. Highly recommended.

Small Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

For us this was the perfect campsite. Our pitch (4) was spacious and backed by beautiful pine trees. The shower and toilets were close by. They were well maintained and the water was lovely and hot. We hired a firepit which came with enough logs to last us the two nights of our stay. The campsite was a very short walk from Sutton Hoo and also a lovely pub which served the most amazing steak and ale suet pudding! It was also very close to the river walk along the river Deben and into Woodbridge so for us was the ideal location. The only downside was the road behind the campsite. It was busier than thought and you could hear traffic but it wasn't an issue and we would have still preferred to be on this side of the site as we liked being by the trees. In summary, this campsite is well maintained and the owners friendly and accommodating. It is a great location to explore the area and excellent value for money.

Large Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

Had a lovely pitch that we requested due to having young kids and being disabled. Toilets where great, showers hot. Good washing up, play, utility area. Only downside, it was next to a road that had no real sound protection if your in a tent. The motorbikes were racing up and down at silly hours. Neighbouring tent with older couple and young kids had radio left on all night! No consideration for other users. At 3am it ceased and was back on 5am. We did use the fridge and freezer but had ice lollies stolen. An ice cream came round when we were packing up. Good to see. We were pitched on #2 had a break in the long grass and trees and other camping kids were using our patch to run through and throw water bombs. So wasn't particularly private and everyone else had better privacy, it seemed. We were so tired, we left the site that afternoon to return home a day early. We would return but would need to be situated elsewhere maybe now we know the site.

Site's response

I am sorry that you were disturbed by other peoples children and we will look into fencing off the area of trees behind the pitches. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about road noise. We have planted trees, hedges and a grass bund to try and reduce the noise, but I appreciate that at times, it can be noisy. If you had told me you were disturbed but fellow campers, I would have asked them to switch off their radio and keep their older children away from you. I do hope we see you another time. Best wishes - Helen.

VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

Nice large grass perimeter pitches, with drinking water and grey water drain on every pitch. Each pitch surrounded by low hedge giving great wind protection. Childrens play area in centre of camping field with nearby field for football, giving great room to play and for kids to explore. Entrance is via a farm yard with good signage. Pitches allocated prior to arrival and posted up on noticeboard - no need to check. Generous (midday) departure time allowing for a museum visit on the same morning of departure. No on-site shop, but fridges available for all campers in the reception hut. Showers free, and cleaned daily. Nearest shop for food is Woodbridge, 20 minute cycle or short drive away. Good local food pub within walking distance.

Convenient location, but busy nearby road

Small Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

This is a nice, small site with decent facilities, but situated quite close to a busy road. It's not really a problem, but I didn't think it was great value for money, considering that the site is quite basic. That said, having water on the pitch was very convenient. Sutton Hoo is only a few minutes walk from the site and that was my main interest for this trip.

A lovely peaceful site with spacious plots. Water, electricity and grey waste drain on plot was very handy. A 10 minute walk ,at most, to Sutton Hoo. Toilets and showers clean with lots of hot water. Good recycling facilities. We would definitely recommend.

Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

5 mins walk to Sutton Hoo, 20 mins walk to the Wilfred Bridge pub, stunning 1 hour walk along Deben river to Woodbridge. Also drove to Orford and took the 1 hour boat trip. So much more we could have seen. Just 1 1/4 hour drive from home so will definitely return. Was in plot 3 which had great shade and sun too. There is road noise, but I got used to that and the only minor niggle as at £28 a night for fully serviced, this was outstanding value. Toilet/shower block basic, but sufficient and never had to wait. Don't be put off by a pretty derelict barn as you drive in and factory for a free range chicken farm adjacent. No smell and was just like out of Chicken Run, except these birds seemed very happy and very well cared for. Saw others take advantage of huge fire pits and logs - excellent value at £10 and we'll do next time. Owner came by a couple of days to see how we were doing - nice touch. Very happy caravanners at this site.

Excellent site for Sutton Hoo and surrounding area. Great pubs offering meals nearby. Recommend the Unruly Pig taster menu on a Thursday evening. Only slight disappointment being the road noise from busy B road adjacent to site. Clean and tidy toilets and showers. Free use of fridge/freezer and electric kettle.

Lovely little site with mixed hedging between each generously sized pitch. Level site and free draining soil (so rain didn't cause a problem). Hot showers, clean toilet blocks. Great access to Sutton Hoo site to walk the dog. Friendly owners, would stay here again

Relaxing, rustic, clean

Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

A great location, good value for money. A fully serviced grass pitch, not usually what we choose (hardstanding & posh) but a really enjoyable alternative. Lovely site, good facilities, great location and excellent value for money. Host, Helen, visits you on arrival to offer a nice personal touch. Great pub (The Wilford Bridge) just down the road, food is excellent and Sutton Hoo complex a couple of hundred metres walk. We'll be back next year. One point to bear in mind is that there is some daytime road noise but it didn't bother us.

Small Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jun 2024

This is a great campsite in a great location, right next to Sutton Hoo. The pitches are placed around the edges of a large field, with hedges separating each pitch, so there is lots of space for kids to play and one doesn't feel too close to the neighbours. The campsite has a great checking-in system when the owners are not on site.

An enjoyable stay

Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jun 2024

The campsite is well located, just 1/4 a mile from Sutton Hoo itself, beside a main road and bus stop. The pitches are well laid out, showers and toilets clean, and as the fridge in our motorhome had died, I especially appreciated the fridge/freezer in the hut. I enjoyed the field/cycle track just beyond the field with the pitches for my morning exercise. My regret is that there is no shop attached to the site, so provisioning, even for basics like milk and bread, means driving or bussing to a nearby town, which for a stay of a week or so, can be a bit frustrating.

Very comfortable and well equipped

Enjoyed all about our 1 night stay. One comment though about the grey water draining on the plot, it's very tight to get the drain on the campervan over the drain hole on the plot.
