This is such a lovely place to stay. The toilets were clean and showers are very nice. Although you feel as if you are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, if you need a shop there is lots locally and a big Tesco is only about a 10-15 drive away. The site was great, you can pitch anywhere and there was plenty of room. You have to park in the car park but they offer a wheelbarrow to help you move everything to the field which is great! We were a couple with a 14 yo and an 8 yo who we kept quiet. I got the impression it's a more relaxed, quiet place to camp, which suited us, but something to bare in mind if you want to 'party''! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely camp there again!

This site is perfect for back-to-basic camping. It's ideally located for the Peak District and the local pub is a 15-minute walk away. Facilities are no frills, but very clean and the shower was lovely after a day in the peaks. The grass is kept a little longer here, so consider footwear needs for moving about the site. Torches are a must for after dark and two in the morning trips to the loo. Check-in and check-out is very relaxed. Wood is provided at a reasonable cost for campfires - we took our own fire pit and sat listening to the owls calling! We loved our stay here and hope it won't be long before we're back again.
Great, friendly campsite

Great back to basics site. Very generous pitches and a friendly and helpful host. Toilets were clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. Close enough to supermarkets for easy supply runs.

Decent space, clean toilets, with 2 showers (1 male and 1 female). Shops are a close drive and the nearby pubs are dog friendly. Parking can be a juggle but there is a good "overflow" for 20 cars in the entrance drive. The site says "Yes, dogs are welcome here provided they are kept on a lead whilst on site and supervised at all times." Yet for 2 days, a dog was loose and often unsupervised, became confrontational to other dogs, and nothing was done. It did make a few pitches uneasy.
Lovely spot for camping and to visit the Peak District

Smallish field on a farm with cows grazing in adjacent fields. Plenty of space to camp where you wish. Toilets, shower and washing-up area excellent. Fire pits are allowed with large bags of wood available if required. Only drawback is that vehicles have no access, so all equipment has to be toted from the car park which is not for the less-abled, so I wouldn't have been able to camp alone. However a wheelbarrow was available, so my daughter coped well. Nevertheless, it was a good choice for a stop-over and we would stay again. Highly recommend it.

This is our third time coming back to camp here as a group of friends. We love how the site is kept, it's always clean and tidy, and that we can safely have a campfire, with the option for wood to be provided at the site too.
Lovely place

We enjoyed a 3 night stay here (Thursday to Sunday during the school summer holidays). Upon arrival, there was no one to greet us (not an issue at all!) but there was a handy notice board with all the info we needed. They have a laid back 'find yourself a pitch' approach, which worked for us. Some pitches were mowed out of the longer grass, others just found a spot on the larger field. We found a nice spot at the far end of the field (which was less busy) and set ourselves up, using the wheelbarrow provided to cart our gear from the car to the pitch. The wheelbarrow was handy, but it's worth noting that there is only one for the site. We didn't have any issues with it not being available but did see others not being able to use it. We then went to check out the facilities. There's a shared facilities block, with two kitchen sinks under a covered area, and then a male and female toilet/shower block - each of which has 2 loos and 1 shower. The loos are fine, and loo roll and soap was provided along with paper towels for drying hands which was good. There are also handy mirrors above the sinks. The shower is small, and only has one hook. Go prepared to squeeze into the space and plan what you're taking in with you (we took a tote bag to carry everything in so we could use the single hook). Once you're in, again, it's fine. They were as clean as could be expect, given they service a field full of campers. We only struggled a bit when it came to showering our daughter - it was tricky to fit into the shower room with her and get her sorted and I wasn't comfortable bringing her out of the room to dry and dress her. There are site rules in place - keep the noise down between 10pm and 7am being the main one for us. Unfortunately, on our first night, there were two tents making noise until 1am. It would have been great if the rules could be enforced a little bit more, or at least remind people with signs around the camp. Other than the slight noise issue, it was a fantastic location for exploring and we filled every day with ease. There are so many attractions, walks and beautiful towns within around 30 minutes drive of the site. There's also a fantastic pub within walking distance. We will be staying again, I'm sure!
Exactly what I want in a basic site

Lovely spot, very laid back. Can have fires which is great. Facilities basic but all does the job. Walked there with my son and he enjoyed making a fire and making contact with his inner Bear Grylls! Eould go again.
Amazing site, but...

One of the nicest, picturesque sites we’ve been to. However, please cut the grass! It’s horrific for hay fever sufferers! If you can get past that eye watering hurdle though, the site is fantastic
Site's response
Sorry about the grass! It is due to be cut in the next month so it should then be better for those who do suffer with hay fever. Thanks for the lovely comments!
2nd stay and it's just as good as the first

2nd time we have used the Campsite and was as good as the first. Great value for money and we have a pitch big enough to have both our tents together. Parking is good and can unload next to the house. Only complaint is that the shower water wasn't very hot, but was still good enough for a quick shower. Will definitely use again when we return to the peaks.

I had a nice and easy stay here, all the pitches were placed in little crop circles in the grass which was cool. Facilities are good and it's easy to find. I only stayed for 1 night and arrived late/left early, but it was convenient.

Stayed here for 5 nights, was a really nice site set in a meadow with a good sized mowed plot, giving plenty of space. Such a quiet and private location to stay, but not far from shops and tourist places. The toilets and showers were clean. Would stay here again and had a very lovely stay. Thank you.
Fantastic stay!

The campsite is alongside a farm, plenty of parking and the pitching area is only a short walk away. Toilet, shower and washing facilities on site. Although we weren't greeted, the setup was easy and we said hi to the owners in the morning who were lovely. It was a lovely place with loads of scenery and local wildlife around. We were even allowed to have a small campfire and there were benches dotted around making it even more appealing.

Very much like advertised. We felt like we paid a little too much for the firewood, and felt that more could have been provided. Besides that - wonderful to stay in.

Great campsite with a great bathhouse and an outdoor sink for washing up. The camp was well maintained. A short walk from the Greyhound pub, which had great food as well.

Stopped for a quick one night stay to see how my cocker spaniel got on camping. Great hosts. Great site. You won't be disappointed. Nice to be able to have an open fire.
