Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We found the campsite a great place to camp. The grounds felt wild and nature was all around. We used the site as a way to visit family in the area, so we're not around much. The facilities were clean and the wash up area useful in the rain. The electric kettle was a great help. The down sides for us were the two large mounds of dog mess we found as we were about to pitch our tent. Secondly was the wasp's nest which had not been managed and had been knocked to the ground, leaving a swarm of angry wasps which stung a small child. My husband is severely allergic to wasps and as a matter of safety, wasps nest should be removed in such public areas. While the use of fires is great, we chose not to have one. However, the proximity of other campers with fires left us concerned about fire safety and the use of a lot of water to put out a fire which sent steam smoke and ash across out tent. We would stay again but not on a busy August bank holiday.

Site's response

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review, Liz- we really appreciate your feedback. A wasp nest was not reported to any staff by campers over the weekend so to help us identify where it is for safe removal please could you get in touch. Rules regarding fires are fire pits are sent out in the arrivals email as well as posters around the camping kitchen and wood shed. We're sorry to hear that your tent was affected by other campers extinguishing their fire. Kind regards, the Wolford Wood Team
