We were welcomed to the site by a very pleasant gentleman who informed us where our pitch was and the location of the available facilities (including the pub down the road). The shower cubicles were a decent size with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in dispensers and cotton buds/balls and mini nail files free to make use of. The showers were 20p for 3 minutes which was enough for a freshen up. The temperature however was more warm than hot but this wasn't an issue for us. The site is beautiful with cows grazing in the surrounding fields and brightly coloured flowers dotted about. We all had a lovely undisturbed sleep and woke up to the sun shining, what more could we ask for! We would highly recommend this site and would definitely stay again.
Site's response
I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre went so well Jade and that you enjoyed yourself so much. Thank you for recommending us on Campsites.co.uk and I look forward to hosting you again. Paul P.S. I'll go and double check the thermometer that I use for checking the shower temperature - it's been showing at 41deg C all season so far.

Fantastic little site, just off junction 36. Really easy to get to, but just far enough away to feel like a real break. The site was scrupulously clean and well looked after, and the owners were lovely and friendly. If you're outdoorsy and sporty, the site is perfect for nearby cycling, running and is in easy reach of the lakes. There is somewhere close for paddle boarding too. We loved it, we'd love to go back!! Thank you.

I'm glad that you all enjoyed your stay at Little Acre, Anne. Thank you for the 5* rating and recommendation and yes, we'd love you to come back. Paul & Sarah

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it, so we definitely weren't going to pass it and not stay again this year while travelling from Cairnryan to Wales. It's such handy access from the motorway, though when you're onsite you wouldn't believe it's so close. It's easy to access the Lakes from here. The facilties are great, would highly recommend. We definitely look forward too returning on our next overseas adventure.

Thank you for your lovely review of Little Acre, John. Hopefully your plans are in motion for your next overseas trip! Paul

Owners are fabulous, very friendly and helpful with the area and places to go. Site is kept immaculate. Only criticism is there is only one toilet in the mens and one shower per block. Although it's a small site, it could do with at least 2 as there were queues to use the shower. Also, it cost 20p for 3 mins, which is strange when no one carries cash anymore and they're not warm. The site is right on the canal for walks, but comes to a dead end either side. There are kayaks to hire 5 mins away but can only go so far down the canal and you have to turn back. The pub over the road is lovely, but expensive. You also need to book in advance as it's popular.
Site's response
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at Little Acre over the BH weekend, Collette - our busiest time of the year when we were at 100% capacity. Yes, additional showers and loos would be ideal at the busiest times of the year and with the planning permission that we have just received, will be in place for 2023. The showers will continue to be 20p for 3 mins, as this ensures that there is always plenty of hot water available (when they were free, we had repeated issues of people leaving the showers running and draining all the hot water.) If you're on foot and going towards Kendal, the canal towpath runs for 2 and a half miles, then the canal runs dry. From this point, what was the towpath becomes a public footpath that you can walk onwards towards Kedal, a further 5 and a half miles away. Alternatively, if you go on foot towards Lancaster on the towpath, the canal runs for 1/3 mile, then walk around the bridge and pick up the towpath again which will take you to Lancaster and beyond- maybe somewhere to explore another time! Paul

This was our second visit to this great little site. In a great location for dog walking and a lovely welcoming pub opposite to enjoy an afternoon drink and serving lovely food if you fancy a change from cooking. The site and facilities are well kept, the pitches are big and the owners can’t do enough for you. The site is situated five minutes from the M6 although you wouldn’t think so as it’s so quiet. It’s a perfect location for exploring the lakes or to just chill out for a few days. We will definitely be back again.

Thank you for the lovely review Christine - we love returning visitors! Paul & Sarah

Had our first stay at Little Acre. On arrival - wow, it looked stunning - immaculate, nice large pitches and it got even better. We met Paul, the owner. A fantastic guy who was always there to help if needed. We had great walks along canal with our 3 dogs. A perfect relaxing site. Kendal is only 15 minutes for all your shopping. Great walks. There is a fantastic restaurant 500 yards away but you're better off booking as it gets busy. Our only downside was that we had to come back early as one of our pups was not well. Only missed one night. We will be back soon - 10/10

Thank you for the review Stephen. It's lovely to hear that you and the pooches enjoyed their stay with us and exploring the Lancaster Canal towpath. Paul. PS: I hope that your dog got well quickly.

Lovely place to stay, 1 mile or so from the M6 near Kendal and South Lakes turn off. 10 minutes to Kendal. It has nice facilities on site. The owners should be commended for the high quality of the caravan site. Nice Pub/restaurant 2 minutes walk away. We will go again - it is a lovely place to stay.

Great stay. Paul the owner very accommodating and friendly. Nice little site, quite quiet. Close to the canal and river for a walk with dogs. Could do with a few more toilets as people were queuing up. Overall, a pleasant stay and not to far off the motorway. Good location. Will return again.
Site's response
It was lovely to host you and I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay Darren. We are building a much larger loo, shower and laundry block this winter, which should improve things for everyone. Paul

We had a lovely welcome from the owner who would stop for chats during the evening. Our pitch was a lovely size and very well maintained. Very good value for money. Great WiFi signal. Could do with a couple more showers there.
Site's response
Thank you for bringing the nice weather when you came Alison - it was appreciated by everyone! When we're busy, extra showers would be very handy for the 2 hour, peak times of the day, for the other 22 hours they aren't being used! When the new shower block is installed next year, things should improve (although I bet we still could do with more for the busiest times, on the busiest days!) Paul p.s. your daughter seemed to find the free wifi a hit!

Great out of the way campsite, but be prepared for a drive into town. We stayed just the one night on our way to the Lake District. We didn't manage to book into the hotel/pub across the road, so ended up having to take the motorhome into the local town (about 4mi) to be able to get provisions - something we didn't think about! It could be quiet and some nice walks about, but be wary with smaller kids as its close to a very fast road with no pavements for walking. We had a scout camp nearby while we were there for the weekend and so there was quite a lot of music/noise until about 10pm - but that's just one weekend. I'm sure usually its very quiet! There's a lovely canal close by which was a good walk for the dog.
Site's response
Thank you for your review and your (brief) stay Michael. You're right, it usually is very quiet at Little Acre and the Scout jamboree made quite a difference when it was on - it was quite surreal listening to agadoo, gangnam style and other "scout friendly" songs. Paul.
