We stayed at Farm and Fell for the weekend and had the most beautiful stay. The scenery is amazing and the site itself is beautiful. The owners are so nice and helpful, we would stay here again!

Really lovely site. The owners are really friendly and drive round of an evening selling logs for fire pits off the back of their tractor. They also walk around of a morning giving out bin bags if you need them to help keep the site clean. There are little brick storages dotted around for you to build your own fire pit or bbq. The main showers and toilets are clean and so were the portaloo's which are also dotted around if you aren't near the main block. Would recommend.
Lots of interesting animals for the children to see

Was great to stroke the piglets, see the goats and experience horse riding for the little ones. Lovely backdrop of the Howgills and nice pubs nearby. A good family campsite for the children.

This was our first camping holiday and we were really impressed. We were well looked after by those working onsite and the toilets/ were always clean. Our little boy absolutely loved the barn with the bouncy castle, the ride on toys and also meeting some animals in the yard. The location was also really good and it was only a short walk into the village. The views around the farm were stunning and it's a great location for exploring the area more. We visited Hawes and Kirkby Stephen, which were both only a 30 minute drive. We will definitely be visiting again and look forward to returning.

Nice friendly staff, great location but needs more showers and toilets. There was mud and sheep mess everywhere but otherwise a great break. Would recommend, thanks!

This was more like wild camping. Information on the site was not what was expected. There were 2 showers for the full site and port-a-loos. We thought the facilities were very poor. We understand that rain will impact, however the fields were so muddy you could not get the car on the fields. You would have expected for camping that there would be some gravel or lay outs to take cars in these conditions. There was nothing. If you got stuck, a tractor had to pull you out of the mud. The views were fabulous though.

Thank you Julie, There are opinions and facts, I welcome your opinion, but I must correct you on facts. There were 200 camping pitches occupied on the weekend that you visited (August Bank Holiday). It had rained for 2 weeks prior and heavily for the 3 days prior to your visit. We advertise a grass campsite - you booked a grass camping pitch. In these circumstances, I don't think it's reasonable to make mud the fault of the campsite. Regarding gravel, the views and landscape that you kindly describe as "fabulous" are within a national park. They exist because we haven't concreted the landscape or covered it in gravel (in fact - the local planning authority don't allow it). Thank you for noticing that we pulled 16 cars/campers (out of 200) out that got stuck. May I add that we did so at no cost. Regarding toilets, you didn't mention that there is a toilet block in the yard with 4 porcelain flushing toilets and 3 urinals with sinks and running water for hand washing. You also received a welcome pack prior to arrival that explained your freedom to select a pitch that met your needs within 30 acres and that you chose to put yourself in a busy field with nice views - but the trade-off was that you had a 200 metre walk to the toilet block. Sincerely, Brian.

A great site, if you aren't expecting permanent campsite features. I have mixed feelings about the campsite - the kids had the best time and it was lovely letting them be free: ride on toys provided to play for free, bouncy castle on a morning, hay jumping, and learning about and getting hands on experience with the animals (ferrets, calves, pigs and chickens). The bar area and live music is great if that's your thing (cheap cans, hot food / drink available and free live entertainment). However, I feel a little mis-sold. I think the site would be better not to advertise that toileting facilities would be 1 per 10 people, as I'm certain this wasn't the case, and there was no hot running water for dishes (when it says washing up area, there is, but it's cold water and I don't count that personally with young kids). There are two showers available at set times meaning it's busy and isn't included in the cost. As a result of those few things, I do feel pricing is a little on the high side. That being said, we thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor space, we didn't feel anyone was on top of us. When toilets became unclean, a quick note to the owner to let them know meant it could be dealt with (and was promptly). We often find it's harder to find a site that's dog friendly, kid friendly and allows fires (on top of that there's no need to buy onsite wood, but wood is brought round to buy to make it super easy). The grass was saturated on arrival and vehicles did get stuck, a lot of that was down to the drivers - lighten the load, pick a route etc. This could be offset by providing wheelbarrows and a "parking lot" but that may put more people off - and you can't please everyone! Set your expectations, bring plenty of baby wipes and hand sanitizer.

We had a wonderful stay at Farm and Fell, we really enjoyed the live bands and it was in a great location with so many walks on the doorstep. The thing which really let the campsite down was the facilities. We paid £100 to stay 3 nights, which granted is cheap for holiday accommodation, but compared to other campsites it's more expensive. You then have to pay £3 each for a shower and there are only 2 shower cubicles for the hundreds of people staying. The floors were muddy and we had to queue an hour for a shower. We also cooked our own food at the campsite and there were no facilities to clean our pots. We got told to clean them in the toilet sinks which were tiny! Overall it was a lovely stay but we won't be rushing back as the facilities really let it down.
Site's response
Thank you for your review, Sophie, but I must correct you on a few facts. The longest wait for a shower that weekend was 40 minutes. In April 2023, we hired in an 8 shower block for £1500 for the weekend. Only 22 people had showers over Easter Bank Holiday. With this, we chose to make the double shower block ourselves to minimise cost and it was installed on the 13th June 2023. We don't put a time limit on how long you spend in the shower and I think that contributes to the queues, given that the person in front of you in the queue could choose to spend 20 minutes in the shower. This is something that we are reviewing, but I find it disappointing that we will need to bring in punitive rules because some people can't respect the queue behind them. Equally, on that weekend, we were mopping the shower every 15 minutes. We could have done it after every shower - but that would have made queues longer. Given that the fields were muddy and wet, I don't think it was unreasonable to expect people to wash their shower shoes or take them off before getting into the shower. Sincerely, Brian.

Brilliant stay here, initially booked for 2 nights but enjoyed it so much we paid for 1 extra night. Location is amazing with plenty of great walks close by. Brian and his team are so friendly and helpful. Nathan was super helping with check in and keeping us topped up with firewood. Loads of space so no one's on top of you. Toilets and portaloos are immaculate. Food and drinks prices very reasonable. Can't wait to return next year.

It was a very large campsite, it was great. There was no one to meet and greet, but you get to choose where your pitch is. There are 3 areas you can choose, by the river, main and a quiet area. Each area had clean toilets and there are 2 showers by the farm, which we thought were not enough, but the queue was never too large. Would definitely go again.
Perfect for camping!

Farm and Fell is the very first place that me and my partner have been camping; and it definitely did not disappoint. The site was very spacious with lovely views, peaceful, and great value for money! We loved the area; there are shops and pubs within walking distance, and plenty of places to explore and go for walks. We liked that we were able to park our car next to our tent so it was easy to pack and unpack! Thank you for having us, we will definitely be returning :)
Nice setting but overpriced

Lovely setting. Large open fields where you can pick your own pitch. Great bar and café area. The website states each field has 1 portaloo per 10 campers however there were probably three times as many campers and only one smelly portaloo. The plumbed in toilets and shower blocks are strangely only open at certain times and costs an extra £3 to use the shower. Nearly every time I went to the toilets they were closed and I really don't understand why they are not open all the time. Also no pot washing facilities. If this site was listed as a basic/wild camp site and priced accordingly it would be fine but we but we decided to move to another site on the third night which cost the same money but had full facilities. I think the site has the potential to be a great site but needs these things addressing.

Lovely stay, set by a beautiful river. My children really enjoyed it!! We left early only due to personal reasons. Will definitely be back again. A gentle man drives around offering fire wood and fire lighters. My children even helped with the farm animals, which was amazing. Could be another portaloo on the campsite, that's my only downfall!

We had an amazing time on your site, really safe for our child, fab bar and kitchen facilities, reasonably priced and nice relaxed atmosphere. Loved being able to walk from the site to the surround area and local shop so no need to use the car for the whole stay! Will definitely be returning next year

We were looking all over for bank holiday camping with nothing available except Farm & Fell available. The reviews seemed good, so we booked & went. We are so glad we did! We absolutely loved this site, the staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has an amazing time. There was live music on in the barn every night, a giant slip & slide for kids & adults, a bouncy castle for kids, hot food available, a bar, lambs cows goats ferrets in pens you just go in and can hold them and stroke them (fees them a bit earlier in spring), horses. There is a quiet field you can pre-book but everyone followed the 11pm rule or there abouts. The views are incredible, and the location next to the river you can walk along the river left or right & you'll find plenty of swim spots (take swim shoes as it's a rocky river). The water is crystal clear, there are deep spots and perfect paddle spots so all ages can enjoy. The portaloos in each field are kept very clean. There is a portable shower block and portable toiled block up by the barn, always kept clean and if they're not, just ask at the bar & they'll clean them for you. That's what I mean about everyone going out if their way. The guys work so hard running a farm, camping but also a charity for ex veterans and addicts. The Rawthey Project is the name, they do amazing work! It's a basic site facilities wise but you will have all the fun and a really good time! Thank you so much Farm & Fell! See you in summer xx

Upon arrival we were greeted by Billy, who was very welcoming and informative. The site was clean, had brilliant facilities and the views were amazing. The barn was a great addition, with food and drink available, and a singer was on the night we stayed. The staff were friendly and the guy behind the bar charged my phone for me. The kids enjoyed the animal feeding. Would definitely return to this site! Highly recommended!

The staff were really friendly and greeted me on arrival. Ideal location for Sedbergh and the Howgill fells. The animals grazing on site right near the tent pitches was a great feature! Facilities basic but perfectly acceptable. Barn serving food, drink and with evening entertainment was also a good feature.

Nice location, a 10 minute walk from Sedburgh. Relaxed site over numerous fields, but quite a lot of sloping areas. We visited over a bank holiday weekend and there weren't enough facilities for the number of visitors. There were 2 showers for 100+ people, so we didn't bother queuing. We couldn't find anywhere to wash up. 2 toilets were out of use, so just portaloos, which were kept quite clean but inevitably smelly. I felt that the animal feeding was a bit underwhelming. Burgers sold were good quality but fairly pricy. Not a bad site but a bit too busy for us.
Good stay but it is just a field

Stunning views and I liked that there was food stand. But the minimal facilities were very minimal and the portaloos were unusable as they did not seem to be emptied

Surrounded by beautiful scenery. Short walk to town and various entry points to river for a dip! Liked the relaxed approach to check in/out/choose your pitch. Website said porcelain toilets but these were taped closed - however, there were plentiful 'portaloos' dotted around the fields/close by for tents. Overall, a lovely site in a fantastic location. We would stay again
