Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both just 7 miles away). Just across the road, about 100 metres away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

Beautiful little site, Kendal is 10 minutes away, quiet and the site/toilets/showers were spotless. Showers already had shampoo, conditioner and body wash so need to bring your own, which I think is a great touch. Showers were nice and hot. Wash room already had fairy and a sponge and toilet were sparking clean every time I went to them. Site was clean and tidy, short walk to the petrol station down the canal across the road. Would definitely stay again.

This campsite was so lovely, it was right next to the canal, which was perfect for walking our dog. It was dog friendly and the owners were so lovely and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as relaxing as it could possibly be! There was a dog friendly restaurant right opposite the campsite which served amazing food.

It was lovely hosting the three of you, Abbie, and I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre worked out so well for you. Paul

A really lovely site and a warm welcome on arrival. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and there were some really nice touches with the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel dispensers etc. Even though the rain was relentless for half of our stay, we still enjoyed it. Thanks to Paul and Sarah for all you do to make Little Acre so great, we look forward to a return visit.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us Jessica and I'm glad the Cumbrian Sunshine (aka rain) didn't spoil your time with us. Paul & Sarah

The site is easily accessible, very close from the motorway and not too far from the towns and main area. Toilets and showers are very clean too, water tap and electric hook at easy access point. Very good facilities.

Thank you Khum. It would be lovely to welcome you back to Little Acre in the future. Paul

Brilliant stay as always, gorgeous campsite in a beautiful setting. Owners are incredibly friendly, nothing is too much to ask. Toilets, showers and other facilities are outstanding, always immaculately clean and amazing value for money. Will be returning very soon!
Site's response
That is very kind of you, Christine. We keep trying to improve the site, but without spoiling it for the reasons that people keep coming back to us! Paul

This was the 2nd time for us here. Lovely, well-maintained camping field and the owners are very friendly and helpful. They are building a facilities block as the original one is a bit dated, it already looks great and it's not finished yet! Easy to get to places of interest too. Would well recommend it for a quiet relaxing stay.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review of your stay at Little Acre, Karen. The new loo, shower and laundry block are getting very near to completion and it's looking very good. All things for you to check out next time! Paul

Overall, we enjoyed our time at Little Acre, the facilities were well kept and clean and the staff were very friendly! The only thing I would say is that it would have been nice to know there was work going on onsite. Like many people, we wanted to come to the lakes for some quiet and to escape the hustle and bustle of a town but whilst we were there. There were workmen with loud heavy machinery. It just would've been nice to be told so we weren't as shocked when we heard it that's all.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and leaving an honest review of your time with us, Casey. At the time of your stay several weeks ago, we thought that all of the heavy/noisy work had been completed and all that was left was the fitting out inside. What I'd missed was the landscaping that needed to be done around the new shower/loo and laundry block and the sheer amount of stone, soil and turf that needed to be moved. Unfortunately, the notice that I'd got about the landscaping being done came very late in the day and I wasn't able to give people advanced notice. Now that we're only a few days away from completion (thank goodness), the site has returned to it's normal level of peace and quiet. Paul

Great campsite, good facilities, with new one getting built again. Nice and clean and free toiletries always useful. You're left to get on with your holiday without contact signs around telling you what you can and can't do. Owner, Paul, is very friendly and helpful. Totally recommend.

Just came back from our stay at Little Acre, the owner of the site couldn't be more accommodating and helped us with anything we needed, really friendly and never felt like a bother! The site is well kept and with the pub a stone's throw away, it's a perfect little place to pitch up. Thank you again for a lovely stay, will definitely be returning!

We booked this site expecting a quiet, basic site. Having read all the reviews, I confirm that the owners are very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi was good, facilities though basic, were clean with the added bonus of the provision of toiletries etc. However, before booking I had read about the new block being added 2023 - very much needed and will be an excellent addition when completed. So disappointed that it wasn't completed and in use for our stay. Also, the fact that workmen are there Monday-Friday, not so peaceful! Some nights I found the noise of traffic from M6 quite irritating. If staying in the area again, we would consider staying on this site.
Site's response
Hello Marian, thank you for staying with us at Little Acre and recommending us on campsites.co.uk. Like you, I'm disappointed that the new shower, loo and laundry block isn't completed and in use - especially as the work commenced in the first week of January. At the time of your stay several weeks ago, the main construction work had been completed and the plumbers, joiners and electricians would have been mostly working inside, fitting the new block out. They are a good bunch, but with the best will in the world, some noise from inside leaks out. Hopefully when you're in our area again, you'll stay with us and see the completed job. Paul P.S. Because the site is so quiet, sound does travel, especially at night if the wind is in the wrong direction. Most of the time, the site is a very quiet place to be.

Not really near anything walking wise. But drivable, there's plenty.
Site's response
Thank you for staying at Little Acre and recommendeing us on Campsites.co.uk, Megan. As you said location wise, if you're behind the wheel, we're 15 mins from the Yorkshire Dale and Lake District. On foot, it's a quiet rural location and we have the Lancaster Canal by our entrance to wander along and the good beer & food of the Crooklands Hotel 200 yards away. For folk who don't want to drive, but would like to explore a bit further afield, we are on a bus route that takes you to Kirkby Lonsdale in one direction and Kendal (plus all other places that Kendal serves!) in the other direction. Until next time Paul
Good value for money and good location for the South Lakes

Good location, a pub across the road, a clean toilet block and a new block nearing completion. Good pitch size, the only negative was the bit of traffic noise at night. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review Colin- hopefully the new loo, laundry and shower block will be completed for a future stay with us. Paul

Helpful staff, family-owned business with nice, clean facilities and a beautiful location and nice scenery. Quiet, clean, and welcoming, with impeccably clean showers/toilet block. It's about 30 mins from Lake Windermere, through some glorious countryside and there's a lovely pub over the road that serves food. The price was very reasonable too.

A beautiful little campsite in a great spot for exploring the Lakes. We have stayed here for the last two years as a base for the Great North Swim. Sandra and Paul are just lovely- kind, welcoming and really helpful. Peaceful location, with stunning views, great for small children to have a good run around on the field and make new friends. Basic, clean facilities with everything you need, although new fancy shower block is being built. Will be back again and again.
Site's response
I'm glad that your stay (& the Great North Swim) worked out so well for you again Amanda - and with glorious sunshine this time as well! Paul

Excellent un-fussy, quiet, well-cared-for site. Paul does an excellent job of keeping everything under control. I cannot fault the site for location, just a few minutes off the M6 (junction 36), out of the site entrance cross the road through the gateway and hey presto the Lancaster Canal! Facilities would have got 5 stars, but they are a little dated, but they are in the process of being updated. Overall our stay was a great break from our normal routine and we went home well relaxed and refreshed. A return in the future is definitely on the cards.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review Brian. Hopefully, for your next stay, we'll get those 5*'s from you. Yes, the "green block" is coming to the end of its life span! It's always clean, it's always fully stocked and it functions as designed, but the shower, loo and laundry block that is replacing it is going to be better in every possible way. See you next time. Paul

We loved our stay at Little Acre. The location is perfect for exploring. The Lakes and the Dales are on the doorstep! The facilities are lovely and clean (the shampoo, soap and conditioner dispensers are a great addition) and when the new shower block opens, it will be even better. The owners are friendly and helpful, and always on hand to help with whatever you need. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review, David. Like you, we can't wait for the new facilities to be opened - since your stay, we're several steps closer to that happy day! Paul
