Overall, a great location, easy to find, quiet and good value for money. I know it is a campsite, but the toilets and showers were dirty and the bins in the ladies toilets overflowing! If the facilities were cleaned regularly then I would recommend. There was only a person there one night of our stay. They are meant to be there 5-9 every day, hence the low standard of service score. Although, when we did see someone, they were friendly.

The location of Graythwaite was lovely. Just a short stroll across a field to Lake Windermere. There was a lovely walk along the lake and stunning views. Being able to hire a fire pit and buy logs and kindling was great once the temperature dropped in the evening. What let the campsite down were the facilities sadly. It would have been much better to have someone on site to check the cleanliness of the shower block and washing up area more regularly. The horse box bar stocked some essentials but only opened from 5-9pm.

The campsite is in a lovely location but from the website I had assumed it was lakeside. It is a large field away. On arrival, there were no staff around. The toilets were dirty and there was no toilet roll. The site declares itself a glamping site so my expectation was high. 2 members of our party had mobility issues and struggled to access the toilets which are up metal stairs and there is a steep step out of the toilets with no handrail. The indoor relaxing area was full of rubbish, a broken table tennis table, no table football and was pretty inhospitable. The horse box sells drinks and ice creams but is only open in the evening. This seemed like a missed trick as plenty of campers would use it all day and it would pay for having someone on site to ensure there are no issues. When we came to leave as everyone was departing at the same time, the 3 wheel barrows were massively insufficient, meaning that we had to carry all our camping equipment across the field. While we were there, no one cleaned the washing up area. There is no bin next to the washing up area which is a basic necessity.

Beautiful location near the water's edge on Windermere. On the quieter western side of Windermere. 20 minutes drive to Hawkshead. 30 minutes drive up to Ambleside.

Fabulous site! The location is just fantastic, sitting on the edge of Lake Windermere we found a secluded spot. The weather helped, it was beautiful and tucked away from the hustle of daily life. Will be back definitely.

We had an amazing stay at Graythwaite. The view from our tent every morning was stunning, nice hot showers. Loved the addition of the horse box selling fresh coffee and hot drinks, pot noodles, snacks and drinks, and hiring out fire pits and selling wood. It would be great if it was open of a morning though as we would have liked the option to get a hot drink then. the communal area is great with a large fridge to be able to put your fresh food in with it being a non-electric pitch site, and also charging points for phones, the only thing is some of the guests use it as a dumping ground and don't tidy up after themselves, which is the only thing that lets it down. This was our first camping trip and we really enjoyed it. We went swimming in the lake, which is a couple of minutes walk from the tent, and had some lovely days out around the lakes, would 1000% recommend and we would love to return!

Lovely campsite. Great view of Windermere with awesome fly bys of the jets practising manoeuvres. Cute little shack for buying sweets, snacks, drinks and rent firepits, with friendly staff. Kids enjoyed paddle boarding and swimming in the lake, which was only a very short walk from the tent. The dogs had a lovely time too.

Perfectly located next to Lake Windermere, not even a 5 minute walk from our tent for a swim or paddleboard in the lake. The facilities were okay, the men's toilets were very small cubicles, which made it a little bit uncomfortable, and the women's weren't always well stocked with toilet roll and not always clean. Although, I understand this is difficult to keep up on a campsite. Staff were friendly and the fire pit hire is a nice touch. :)
Stunning location, very basic site

Arrived in glorious sunshine. The route to the site is down a very narrow, windy road so beware if in a large camper an or vehicle. Access to site is via a potholed concrete yard next to a barn. Parking is away from your pitch! Wheelbarrows supposed to be available to assist in getting your gear to your pitch. We had to hunt for one. More needed. You can pick anywhere to pitch your tent. Field is at different levels with areas of long grass. We pitched at the top as we liked the magnificent views of the lake. After a number of trips with said wheelbarrow (lost count), we pitched our tent. There were about 6 other campers near us. All spaced apart. It was so peaceful. Everyone very friendly. The guy arrived at the shepherd's hut. Very friendly, helpful and informative of the area. The toilets and showers are accessed via metal stairs. They really need cleaning more often given the amount of campers. The communal area with the fridge, freezer, table tennis and charging point needs updating. There was rubbish everywhere when we arrived on the Sunday. Fridge and freezer were dirty. The charging point is an extension cable with 4 plugs. We never managed to get a plug to charge our phones! Lots of people charging power packs which were left unattended. Campers coming and go frequently. Mixture of solo campers, couples and families. Very quiet until the Tuesday when a group of 4 families set up next to us and pitched close to each other and set up a kitchen and fire pit in the middle of their tents. They had a generator which was noisy, they played music loudly until nearly midnight. Lots of shouting and singing well into the early hours. We were glad to be leaving in the Wednesday. Other campers also commented on the disruption and noise. Such a shame. So inconsiderate. No staff on site. When it was time for us to pack up again, we struggled to find a wheelbarrow. We had to share with another party who were arriving. Then it was noticed that the large group next to us had 2 wheelbarrows stored behind their tents 🤬 We did have a lovely few days but we're happy to be moving on. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this site due to the lack of management on site and the below par cleanliness. The views are fabulous and location. Such a shame.

We really liked the location of this campsite and the accessibility to the water, as well as being close by to many places to visit. Having a little bar on site is fantastic which provides a range of drinks, hot and cold as well as fire pits to hire. Having a fridge and a freezer was great, and even a barn with games and charging points is a great added feature. However, the cleanliness of the toilets was a real let down, which was unfortunate, because having a plug in there with a hairdryer and fantastic mirrors was a bonus. Unfortunately, the toilet rolls constantly ran out and the floors were dirty and there did not seem to be staff on site regularly enough to keep up on cleaning and replenishing. This campsite has such great potential to be so much more if only a few things were polished up.
Quiet campsite with a view!

We had a lovely, relaxing stay at this quiet, rural campsite overlooking Lake Windermere. Toilets and showers are basic but acceptable. The couple who looked after the wonderful horsebox bar were friendly and knowledgeable. We walked from the campsite to the lake, which is accessible through an adjoining field. There is a lovely walk to the ferry crossing, which takes around 45 minutes from the campsite (longer if you stop to enjoy the scenery along the way!) We took the small Ash Landing ferry to Bowness and back - lovely not to have to drive. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend for people looking for a back to basics campsite in a stunning location.

We thought the site was in a lovely area, but we thought that the horse box was open in the morning for breakfast and hot drinks, but it wasn't didn't open until after 5. Then, it was very deer, so we had to drive to a shop that we thought was 5 mins away, it was 30 mins away. The toilets were always dirty and no toilet roll. The stairs to the toilets were very dangerous, I think, especially in the rain. I also received my email about what to do on arrival which said we couldn't set up till 3pm, when we could from 1pm. I don't think we will come there again which is a shame because it's very beautiful, just not close enough to anything.

This is the second time this year I have stayed at this site with my teenage son. It is a wonderful relaxed place and this time, the weather was amazing. The views are outstanding and the site was not too busy. Access to the lake is superb and there is a pleasant bar. It is dog friendly and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It is a pop up campsite so the facilities can be a bit basic but the showers are good. Also you cannot take your car to the pitch but on balance, this works well. We will definitely be back next year, it is also brilliant value.

A great place all round. A lovely spot and access to the waterfront beach is really doable, even with a wheelchair. Only slight issue for us with a disabled child, was the stairs to the toilet/shower room. But 5 stars, had a great stay and the management also very helpful when we got there.

The site was in a good location for access to the lake, really nice views. The owners are lovely and there's a lovely bar from around 5-9, tight country roads though. Toilets and showers need regular cleaning though as there's grass from the field. It would be even nicer if there was a path with a mat, or a stone path to walk to the toilet, so then you don't get grass in your shoes or wet clothes. Recommend sliders or flip flops for the walking around in and for showering.
Good location very noisy

Excellent location with lake access. Was expecting a quiet relaxing holiday. Unfortunately, the site was overrun with loud teenagers. The toilets were disgusting and never had any toilet rolls, so you had to remember to take your own. The campervan pitches were right next to the car park and very noisy with campers coming back to their cars every five minutes to get something from their cars. Maybe a better layout would be an idea?
Lovely peaceful stay!

This is a really lovely site in a fantastic location. The site is well-kept and well-furnished with hot and cold running water, showers and toilets. There is a fridge and freezer to store food if you like. I also spotted a dishwasher! The weather wasn't great and the ground was pretty wet, which perhaps explained why the ladies showers seemed to be permanently full of grass. The toilets were kept nice and clean though and we didn't need the loo roll we brought from home. The trailer selling drinks and ice creams is a lovely touch, and creates a homely feel. Opening for breakfast would be a useful addition, as would the provision of bacon butties.

What a beautiful place! The grass was being mown as we arrived to make it easier to get to pitches, loads of room for privacy and we had a lovely swim in the lake. Such a great site!
