The owner was very helpful. As most of the water pipes were frozen, he pointed out which ones use and so on. He also gave a hand with the hitch before we left. We had a nice spot by the fishing lake, not that any fishing was going on this time of year đ

This site is a 5 minute drive from Monks Cross shopping centre, the park and ride and a great choice when visiting the Christmas market. The gentleman who greeted us onto site was extremely friendly and very informative about the local area, and even provided us with a map of York city centre. We drove our 7.2metre (length) motorhome to the shopping centre and found it easy to park as there were plenty of spaces on a Friday afternoon. On Saturday, we drove to the park and ride, arriving around 9.15 and expected it to be packed, but it wasn't and we found a space backing onto a grass verge which we reversed into and over hung the grass at the rear. The park and ride was a bargain. We were told by the gentlemen who greeted us at Wagtail that the height barrier might be down, but it was open when we used it. The site was quiet when we were there and the toilet/shower blocks warm and clean. Would definitely book here again when visiting York.

Had a great weekend away at this site. Our reason for going was for the fishing, which was a good day - caught a variety of sizes of different fish (mainly carp), loved it. The pod we stayed in was very clean and cosy. The toilet/shower block was also very clean. The landowner was very welcoming and friendly. Food places, grocery shops and retail shops very close by. We will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend to others. Very happy.
Peaceful, roomy, and a lovely walk around the grounds for the dog

Lovely quiet, friendly site. Good shower block with toilets. Plenty of room around our motorhome. We enjoyed the walks with our dog around the fishing lake and the grounds. Met by Peter on arrival who gave us some basic information to start our 3 day break.

Well received by the friendly Site Manager who communicated well giving plenty of local information re transport, parking and local amenities. Took time to chat at other times when passing. A fenced off fishing lake which still left an area to walk around away from the plentiful pitches. Would highly recommend.

Lovely quiet park, but nearby to lots of things. Had a lovely welcome with lots of useful information. Toilets and shower facilities were clean beyond expectation and we would definitely stay again. New to camping, but this site has set a high standard!

Really friendly owner, the site was well-spaced and offered everything you needed for a break. The best part was that the pitches were not on top of each other, and offered plenty of private space around the caravan. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for somewhere for fishing for a few days, and nothing else, then this place is recommended as we saw lots of fisherman catching over the 2 days we stayed. However, if your looking for a base to do some walking, then definitely not. Site is flat but next to a very busy road with traffic travelling at speed (and no public footpaths for miles), the site is also undergoing building works, so noise from 9am throughout the day. Added to that, I felt that it was very expensive for what you get, so definitely not returning.
Site's response
There are a couple of public footpaths within 400 meters and another one 1/2 mile away. There is other walk's a 10 minute drive away along the River Foss or the River Derwent. Also, a little bit further is Castle Howard, where you can walk in the Howardian Hills, a place of natural beauty.
Lovely site, friendly owner

The owner/ manager Peter was very helpful and got in touch a couple of times prior to our arrival. Site was a good location for travelling into the city centre which we did both days. Taxi ride is approximately ÂŁ12 one way. The toilet/ shower block was clean although we werenât cooking this time, only sleeping in our camper, so I didnât use the washing up facilities. We really enjoyed our time and will hopefully be back. Thank you!

Tranquil park a 15 min drive from town centre. Lovely, smallish, calm site. Facilities clean and sufficient for park size. Fishing looks nice if you're into that.

The site was very central and a great location to York, when we arrived we were greeted and shown our spot and given information of the local area, the gentleman was very informative and polite. We had a great pitch and the site wasn't a huge one, it was so spacious and spot on.

Sure was lovely and peaceful, even though there were children present. Fishing was spot on, lots of different species to catch. Definitely will go back again.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were met as we arrived by a very friendly gentleman who showed us to our pitch. It was clean, quiet and a great size pitch. I would highly recommend this campsite.

Arrived in the evening, and was welcomed by the owner. He gave us a map and was telling us what routes to take to the local shops and York city... Had a great stay would definitely visit again and recommend to other people. Very clean, helpful staff and if you have a dog, there's a great walking area for them.

The campsite is very clean & tidy. The washroom facilities are warm & immaculate. The shower was brilliant. The sink area for washing up was tidy, could of done with a bit more dusting to remove cobwebs around conduits. The location is 10 minute drive from York centre or 5 minutes from the park & ride. Unfortunately the roads aren't safe enough to walk because there's no path & the verges aren't maintained. But overall a really nice enjoyable place to stay.
