I booked to stay for two nights but only ended up staying one night. Didn't sleep a wink as the farm just behind has dogs constantly barking all day and night. The television only has about 6 channels that have signal and the Wi-Fi signal is so poor, it wouldn't even load Facebook. If you want it for walking and you don't want to sleep or are a heavy sleeper, then I'm sure it would be great but I didn't sleep a wink and couldn't do my work I had planned due to poor Wi-Fi.
Site's response
We would always encourage any guests to tell us immediately if there is any concern as we always try to address any issues straight away. The problem with the TV and Wi-Fi could have been easily remedied. We think Storm Darragh the few days before your visit must have had some impact but we retuned the TV (143 channels) and restored the Wi-Fi, which is usually good as we have fibre optic. This is something we should have checked before your visit and so we apologise for this and have already sent a partial refund to you to reflect this. We will always check this in future when a new guest is arriving. We are in a farming area and farm dogs can bark at times and this is not usually a problem. Unfortunately, as you explained, your dog reacted to the barking with more barking, setting each other off. This is obviously not the experience we want for our guests and we take feedback seriously. Best wishes.

Poplars Farm is great site, I stayed in a pod which was super cosy with a toaster, kettle, microwave and utilities. There is also a tv if you feel you need it, personally with the views it's nice to sit and read. The pod also has its own dedicated toilet and shower a few meters away. The hosts were really friendly and gave some ideas of where you can go for walks and food. There are several pubs within walking distance. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you very much, Wayne. Great to meet you and your friendly dog, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay.

This small site is excellent if you want some chill out time. The facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean. The owners could not be more welcoming and helpful telling us what was happening in the area on arrival. The dog walking fields are huge, this is an added bonus for our Staffie dog. Plenty of local pubs to choose from serving food, we ate at the Hanging Gate and it was really good food and dog friendly. We will be returning sometime next year.

We had an absolutely lovely time staying at Poplar's Farm in one of the beautiful pods. So peaceful and well equipped. The toilet/shower allocated to our pod was great. Little welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk plus a packet of kit-kats was a nice touch. Thank you. We'll be back ASAP!

It would be lovely to see you again. Many thanks.

Myself, hubby and the dog went to Poplars Farm for a 2 night stay in a glamping pod. We were made to feel most welcome from the start, everything you could ever need is in the pod already and we wanted for nothing. Great field on site for dogs to run free and the bathrooms were spotless.
Site's response
Thank you very much for your visit and positive review. If dogs could write reviews, we’d be very popular!

Wanted somewhere quiet to test out our new van, we were not disappointed. The site is small but spacious with beautiful views. Pitches are set out in an arc shape, so no one's view is compromised. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming and took time to chat. The facilities are spotlessly clean and heated, with plenty of hot water. It's an easy walk into the village, where there are two excellent pubs, serving great beer and food. Despite the wet and windy weather, we had a great stay and would definitely go back again.

Lovely stay. Owners very friendly. Be aware of the potholes in nearby lanes! We tried to go to the reservoir, but the sat-nav took us along narrow roads and when we got to a turning, the road said 'no access to reservoir'. Apart from that, had a lovely quiet stay. Nice pub local, but be aware that there were no paths to walk on and a busy road. A little run down looking, but apart from that, it was great. We didn't use the facilities as used our own van. Good recycling options and doggie bin also.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit and we appreciate your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. We always strive to ensure visitors have a pleasant time and are looking for ways to improve the site. I agree the potholes down some of the narrow lanes locally are bad in places - the main roads to the reservoir and to our site are in much better condition and wider. We have a sheet explaining ways of getting to the Reservoir by road or foot. Satnav doesn't always help as you discovered! We understand the site is not looking it's best just now. The heavy rain over the winter and into spring means we have only just been able to mow this week. Also, fencing and gardening jobs are on hold for the same reason. Roll on better weather! Hope you have a great summer in your motorhome and thank you for your comments.

Lovely site, has glamping pods and everything was nice and clean. My 1st time campervanning, hence not for the faint-hearted, as it was very cold and windy - 3 seasons in one day but beautiful area. Hosts very helpful and kind.

Booked a last minute weekend away at this site, only 15 mins from my house. The couple that run the site were lovely, helped me to the pitch and made sure I had everything I needed, including recommendations for food and places to go. Pitches are long so can accommodate larger vehicles and the views are brilliant. 2 toilets and 1 shower are on site, they are immaculately clean. 5 minute walk to Hulland Ward and there are 2 pubs (the Black Horse is excellent for food), a small shop and a farm shop. A bus stop is right outside the site entrance, but it doesn't run on Sundays. Will definitely be back again!
Site's response
Thank you very much for your visit and your detailed review, Ben. It's a help for others thinking of booking and we appreciate that you have taken the time to do this. Lovely to meet you. Best wishes and hope to see you again.

A wonderful small setup for a lovely, quiet getaway. Super friendly hosts who couldn't do enough, felt very welcome in an instant. The grounds are well organised with all required facilities, which are well laid out. Amazing 360° views and 7-10 mins to local pubs. The Black Horse Inn does amazing food. We will definitely return.
Site's response
Thank you, John, for your very positive review. We aim to help if we can and it’s great you enjoyed the hospitality at the Black Horse. Hope to see you again.

Stayed at Poplars Farm, very relaxing break. The owners were very welcoming, considering we interrupted their Christmas Day. Shower was lovely and hot with plenty of room and it was spotless, as were the toilets. A big thank you for the loan of the hook up cable, looking forward to returning in 2024.

Everything you need for a weekend break. Two pubs just down the road doing home cooked food, we ate at the Nags Head twice, which was very nice and reasonably priced. Unfortunately it was sub zero temperatures and all the caravan pipes froze, along with the washing up facilities and taps on site. Toilets and shower was basic but clean. Would go again.

Warm, cosy pod in the middle of the wild. If you're looking for peace and quiet, then this is your place. Owners welcoming and helpful. Next time, in warmer weather, we will try the toilets and bathroom outside of the pod. We had a visitor from the next farm, a cat called Tommy - very friendly and cheeky.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit. Lovely to meet you both. It is true the toilet and shower room for each pod are in the nearby amenities block, so it is a short step outside. Tommy, the farm cat from next door, certainly missed you after you left!
