There are dozens of great rides (including 10 adrenaline fuelled rollercoasters) but some of the most popular are the Congo River Rapids, Nemesis, Oblivion, Runaway Mine Train, Galactica, The Smiler and Wicker Man.

With more than 40 rides and lots of restaurants and play areas, there really is a lot to fit in. You can have a great day trip, but ideally do stay the night as it's well worth two days.

A reasonable number of holiday parks can be found within striking distance of Alton Towers. There is also a good selection of caravan parks and touring sites too if have your own caravan or motorhome.
